I ordered at the counter and tried to look for a table - but didn't find any - so got takeout As soon as I was done I saw a table empty out - and I took that one. I walked in and the cashier tells me that if I guess heads or tails I get it free and if i get it wrong I pay two dollars more. To me personally, the flavor is worth it. but I can't eat here very often. Unfortunately. I especially like their quesadillas al pastor, which swim in grease - but have the BEST flavor. My wife and I tried Tacos Moreno on the beach in Capitola tonight for the first time. It was really good and the service was excellent. We both got street tacos (chicken and carne asada. They come with melted cheese on the little corn tortilla, then the meat, then guacamole. They were super yummy and my favorite was the shredded chicken. Also their chips and red salsa were amazing. The al pastor was dry... what little there was in and amongst the beans and cabbage. For a super taco they skimped on the guac. Both had greasy tortillas. When we walked in we should have known. The floors and tables were dirty and the young man was busy with his phone. We had hopes as we like the other locations. The pluses: the wait was not too long and the decor was interesting. I can deal with this, but didn't seem efficient or organized. We received 4 of the 5 items we ordered. The last item (chips and salsa) we did not receive. After giving it 20 minutes, I finally went and asked about this. In doing so, i was hardly acknowledged and was handed a basket of chips, with no salsa. After asking about the salsa, I was handed two small plastic containers of salsa. After the money we spent here, this felt like a slap in the face. I'll say, the food was good. They got my order wrong, probably overpaid. By the time I sat down on the beach I just accepted it. Tacos were stingy on meat/shrimp. The contents were a wet indecipherable goo of guac, salsa, a few pintos and meat bits topped with a some shredded cabbage and pico de gallo. They were good but for the location I would expect something a bit more quality. Not very fancy and it is what it is. Drinks were self serve in a fridge. Almost like going to a gas station. Gotta ask to use the bathroom and have them unlock it for you. Not a very customer service friendly place. A kid actually rang me up and served me and he didn't really seem to know what was going on. You just go up to the counter and order your food and go find a spot to sit. I think I just have better expectations for being such a high tourist spot and a beautiful location you'd have a better customer friendly type restaurant style place. Although we were a bit disappointed in the lack of seating (just three small tables outside - everything else belongs to Zelda's), we found ourselves quite content with the beachside view. We ordered the super nachos, the street tacos, and a fish taco. My favorites were definitely the fish taco and the shrimp street taco! The nachos we got were a bit soggy, and we were left with a lot more topping than chips. We also were disappointed in the lack of drink options, although it was easy enough to order drinks at Zelda's and bring them back to our table. Overall, there's definitely some improvements that could be made with the food, drink options, and seating... but it's sure hard to be too unhappy eating a fresh street taco on the beach. read more
