Saw all the reviews for this taco truck were pretty positive but wasn't sure since there was no customers,maybe it was the rainy day or still too early 17:40.I was already there so I said why not, if food not good then I just won't go back. Glad I decided to try it cause it was worth it, this place is good. Got the asada torta and darn it I should have gotten some tacos on the side. We were hungry and in the area so we figured we'd try this place out since it had really good ratings. This place surpassed any expectations I could've possibly had. The lady who attended us was very nice and hospitable, she even brought our food to the table. We ordered some tacos, an agua de piña, and an horchata. The tortillas, meat, drinks, and salsas are absolutely delicious!! I love that they have a little seating area with tables, we sat down to eat there and it was such an enjoyable experience; it reminded me of eating at small establishments when I'd visit Mexico as a kid. Tacos El Rey is hands down one of the best taco trucks I've ever been to around the Santa Ana area! I stopped by and got the asada and pastor tacos along with a horchata, and everything hit the spot. The asada was flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The pastor also had that amazing balance of smoky and spicy flavor that great tacos have. Both came on fresh tortillas and included toppings like orions, chili, and cilantro. The horchata was super refreshing not too sweet as well. On top of the food, the service was quick and friendly. Ambiance was also super good. Surprisingly, they also deliver the food to you if you choose to dine in instead of takeout. You can tell they take pride in what they do. What a delicious experience at Tacos El Rey! Their truck is on Fairview and they have tables and chairs so you can enjoy your meal there. Al Pastor Tacos (5/5): Now I'm very picky when it comes to my tacos, especially al pastor. This place nailed the seasoning and texture of the meat. It was so savory, sweet, flavorful and sooo tender! The right amount of grease and the tortillas were delicious!! Not to mention that the plate also came with grilled onions, cucumbers, and a serrano pepper, which really adds to the tacos in my opinion. Seriously, you need to try their al pastor, it was BOMB! Horchata (5/5): A lot of horchatas I've had have been gritty, not well strained, or just lacking in flavor and sweetness. NOT HERE! The horchata was creamy, smooth, and had the right amount of sweetness I'm looking for!! I love that it had a cinnamon swirl to it too when I got it. It has a condensed milk taste, which I assume they used, that makes it sooo addicting. Not even being dramatic, one of the top horchatas I've had. The spot is very easy to find with ample parking. The menu is thought out perfectly and they present the prices for each item according to the meat. The area is spotless and the workers here are so friendly! I love the sticker on the cup as well! It's those little things that make me go back. Called ahead to pick up the carne asada fries and they were ready within 15 min of placing my order. Once I got there, I couldn't help but order an agua de fresa. It was so yummy! Seriously, don't skip out on the drink. Next time I will forsure be trying the horchata. The fries themselves were loaded with toppings! The carne was not particularly my favorite, so I'll be trying the carnita fries on my next visit. The salsas are definitely on the spicier side. The pastor tacos were not the sweet/pineapple variant, but were very tasty. The tortilla was perfect too. Not dry or falling apart. Asada nachos were perfect. Not wet and soggy. The nachos they use are thick and crunchy without being hard or taking from the flavors of the other stuff. Decent ratio of cheese too. The horchata and mango water were thick and full of flavor. Not too sweet, not too rich, but just right. I would go here just to get drinks if I wasn't hungry. Really good. They also didn't just give me 90% ice either, perfect ratio. The truck is a little tucked away, so you kind of have to know where you're going. They have an outdoor eating area with two clean tables and plenty of light --if you want to eat there. The chorizo mulita was my favorite, it's made with the small, street-taco sized tortillas so if that's all you're getting, get more than one. I'm a crispy tortilla girl and that was crunchy perfection. I also got the asada burrito which was booommmbbb. It had a different flavor than other asada but in a great way. Some of the best tacos I have had since moving to the area! The asada and pastor had amazing flavors. My favorite is definitely the lengua. Super tender and delicious. I'm always willing to spend a bit more for great lengua! Lots of different meat options so you got variety. They also offer some grilled onions too which goes great with the food. I'm not the biggest fan of cucumbers but it does add some freshness to the meal. Service was perfect and the area has a lot of parking around so it's nice. Definitely check this place out! read more

Tripas taco 10/10 (I don't even like tripas) Asada mulita (9.5/10) don't like cheese but damn it was good Tacos al pastor on point! 8.5/10 (missing piña but I'm from DF). Sope de asada was small on the amount but plentiful with meat 9.5/10 (i love sopes so no one gets a 10 except my abuela). The owners are cool AF. They bantered with me and even had a laugh about me potentially stealing their wallet (chilangos will know). The salsa was the best Mix of Michoacán and Oaxaca deliciousness.
