Really enjoyed my experience here! The fries topped with flavorful al pastor pork, melted cheese, and fresh guacamole were delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out quickly. I loved the variety of salsas and especially the grilled onions. The jamaica was fabulous, and the horchata was also really good just a touch sweet for my personal taste. The staff was very helpful with recommendations for first-time visitors, and I love that they offer more than tacos, including pizza, wings, desserts, and halal options. The arroz con leche was one of my favorites. I could have it every day! The restaurant is also kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible. We usually order food from this spot whenever we go to Twisted Tiki which is in the same marketplace. Tacompadre has tacos, burritos, quesotacos, alambre, loaded fries or nachos, and a few other miscellaneous items. They also have a good selection of proteins including asada, pastor, birria, chicken, chorizo, suadero, and conchinita, as well as a veggie option. The same space is shared with Mongiello's Pizza and Wings, and we ordered items from both menus at once at the register. We ordered our food to go to take to TT, but there is also a common dining area in the center of the market. My girlfriend had three tacos plate ($11.99), two pastor and one veggie. It comes with rice and beans, and we ordered a side of chips ($1.99). They have a self-serve station with utensils and several large covered steel containers of different salsas with small cups to fill. Each of the tacos have two tortillas, and she thought they were good, but she didn't care for the rice or beans. The chips were fine, and the two salsas we tried were good. These are larger than street tacos and they Jam Pack with delicious tender flavorful meats. Great taco Tuesday deals as well but the price is good anytime of the week. Birria is so flavorful and moist and carne asada is grilled and juicy. Salsa bar is excellent. Everything in it was a big hit especially the green salsa, Pinneaple salsa, the grilled onions, and that super spicy salsa. The owner and staff are all amazing with customer service and makes you feel very welcome. I'm definitely adding this into my regular meal rotations! read more

Large portions and good bang for your buck. Tacompadre is located in downtown Santa Ana parking is structure which is free for one hour. Restaurant has table seatings and a arcade upstairs. I got the three taco plate with veggie chicken and asada. My fiance got the fajita style with asada and suadero. Service was a bit slow due to the large order they were making but were in no rush so wasn't a huge deal. They have many salsas and topping on the side. Asada was my favorite! Chicken was a bit dry, but the salsa helped. They also have pickled pineapples which is delicious. Overall solid taco place that will keep you full for a while. read more

Disgusting and inattentive service. Came here on a Thursday night , stood at the counter for almost 20 minutes and had to echo out a hello for any service. After ordering this employee began to use his phone, pick his nose and touch ALL the pizza ingredients. Made the food and went back to his phone / blowing his nose. The food didn't take long to come out and when It was done, it was piping hot. I only tried a few bites of the regular nachos, but the el pastor tasted good as well as the chips, cheese, and veggies on top. Now it's time to talk about the real dish here, the French Fry nachos! The dish itself was bigger than I anticipated, covered in cheese, covered in tasty birria, and tasted great. Overall, Tacompadre was a solid place to grab some dinner before a show and one I'm glad I stopped at. Additionally the service was fast especially in light of the fact that the kitchen is shared with pizza and wings place. I had a friend visiting OC and thought it would be fun to show her Downtown Santa Ana. I wanted to bring us to 4th Street Market, only to find out that a lot of the businesses in there were already closed since it was a weekend night. Luckily, we saw on Yelp that Tacompadre was open and we decided to make our way over. PARKING: Tacompadre is located in the McFadden Public Market - I'm not sure if there's parking right in front but there's tons of public parking in Downtown Santa Ana, especially right now while there's construction for the streetcar and the city is offering free/discounted parking garages. WHAT I ORDERED: Quesabirria THE FOOD: YUM! You can never go wrong with cheese, but this place takes it a step further with an amazingly seasoned birria. The quesabirria comes with a cup of consome which was great for dipping. We were super impressed with the bar on the side - I'm used to seeing grilled onions and peppers but the pineapple habanero salsa stood out and was very delicious. SERVICE: The staff were so nice, and food came out rather quickly. VIBES: It was my first time at this market, and vibes were great!! There are other businesses around and Mission Control bar is on top for if you want to hang out after.
