We usually order food from this spot whenever we go to Twisted Tiki which is in the same marketplace. Tacompadre has tacos, burritos, quesotacos, alambre, loaded fries or nachos, and a few other miscellaneous items. They also have a good selection of proteins including asada, pastor, birria, chicken, chorizo, suadero, and conchinita, as well as a veggie option. The same space is shared with Mongiello's Pizza and Wings, and we ordered items from both menus at once at the register. We ordered our food to go to take to TT, but there is also a common dining area in the center of the market. My girlfriend had three tacos plate ($11.99), two pastor and one veggie. It comes with rice and beans, and we ordered a side of chips ($1.99). They have a self-serve station with utensils and several large covered steel containers of different salsas with small cups to fill. Each of the tacos have two tortillas, and she thought they were good, but she didn't care for the rice or beans. The chips were fine, and the two salsas we tried were good. A casual food court style taco spot! After trying a few of the different meat options, the birria was definitely my favorite, it was the most flavorful! The alambre is a little greasy, though this is pretty standard considering the amount of bacon and cheese that it came with. The cashier was friendly and there is a self serve salsa bar with all the usual toppings, but they also have a spicy pineapple salsa which was great. There is a paid parking behind the restaurant, and other parking structures around downtown. It's also located in the same building as an arcade and a tiki bar, making it a good spot for food after fun activities! read more

Everything in it was a big hit especially the green salsa, Pinneaple salsa, the grilled onions, and that super spicy salsa. Large portions and good bang for your buck. Tacompadre is located in downtown Santa Ana parking is structure which is free for one hour. Restaurant has table seatings and a arcade upstairs. I got the three taco plate with veggie chicken and asada. My fiance got the fajita style with asada and suadero. Service was a bit slow due to the large order they were making but were in no rush so wasn't a huge deal. They have many salsas and topping on the side. Asada was my favorite! Chicken was a bit dry, but the salsa helped. They also have pickled pineapples which is delicious. Overall solid taco place that will keep you full for a while. read more

The food was a 10/10! We really enjoyed everything that we bought. Honestly great space as well it's a food hall with this being one of the 4 places to choose from. Upstairs is a totally fun vibe with an arcade and bar and nice patio seating outside. We sat on the second floor and enjoyed the dodger game. The service was great the manager was super nice. It's an awkward little place with two or three restaurants and a club upstairs. But the food was decent and the service polite and very fast. I got the birria ramen - and to be fair it was served in the Tapatio Ramen bowl you can get at the store, but with added meat and exquisitely flavored. I am not one to post reviews but this is how bad the food was. Came here to eat breakfast with my family and we were all highly disappointed and came out feeling nauseous. I wish I would have taken pictures of the chilaquiles because they did not look appetizing at all. Ordered two orders of red chilaquiles with asada and the chilaquiles looked liked vomit. You couldn't even tell that they were once tortilla chips with salsa. The taste was not any better. We had to throw them away and only ate most of the carne asada from the top. The burritos were not the best either. We ordered 3 burritos and one with avocado and they didn't even add the avocado but did charge me for it. We will not be coming back. My wife and I were in Santa Ana for a show at the Observatory when hunger struck so we decided to grab a bite before hand. Thanks to the help of Yelp, we made our way to Tacompadre! Now, originally we planned on getting some burgers in the same building, but thanks to some very compelling photos of nachos we decided this was the place to try. My wife ordered some nachos with el pastor while I ordered some french fry nachos with birria! Did we really order two nacho dishes? Yes, because one of them used tortilla chips as a base while the other used french fries and I will always, and I mean always, order a dish bashed around french fries. The food didn't take long to come out and when It was done, it was piping hot. I only tried a few bites of the regular nachos, but the el pastor tasted good as well as the chips, cheese, and veggies on top. Now it's time to talk about the real dish here, the French Fry nachos! The dish itself was bigger than I anticipated, covered in cheese, covered in tasty birria, and tasted great. Overall, Tacompadre was a solid place to grab some dinner before a show and one I'm glad I stopped at. Tacompadre has the most delicious birria quesadilla that I've had. The birria is tender and the cheese bonds the flour tortilla with the birria. Additionally the service was fast especially in light of the fact that the kitchen is shared with pizza and wings place. The ambiance is spacious and informal with arcade games and ample seating both inside and outside. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good food and fast service. I had a friend visiting OC and thought it would be fun to show her Downtown Santa Ana. I wanted to bring us to 4th Street Market, only to find out that a lot of the businesses in there were already closed since it was a weekend night. Luckily, we saw on Yelp that Tacompadre was open and we decided to make our way over. PARKING: Tacompadre is located in the McFadden Public Market - I'm not sure if there's parking right in front but there's tons of public parking in Downtown Santa Ana, especially right now while there's construction for the streetcar and the city is offering free/discounted parking garages. WHAT I ORDERED: Quesabirria THE FOOD: YUM! You can never go wrong with cheese, but this place takes it a step further with an amazingly seasoned birria. The quesabirria comes with a cup of consome which was great for dipping. We were super impressed with the bar on the side - I'm used to seeing grilled onions and peppers but the pineapple habanero salsa stood out and was very delicious. SERVICE: The staff were so nice, and food came out rather quickly. VIBES: It was my first time at this market, and vibes were great!! There are other businesses around and Mission Control bar is on top for if you want to hang out after. Came to try out these tacos, I heard they're really good. You can find this place inside the McFadden eatery downstairs from Mission control bar. There's a couple of places in here that I've tried but so far this one has been the best one yet, their pizza and wings, which are super delicious and good for the price are also sold at this location. The guys that work here are always friendly and willing to make your pizza AND tacos made to order. I got the 3 taco plate which came with rice and beans. I don't write reviews often but felt the need to today. I'm fortunate to live nearby and after today I'll be coming more often. I enjoyed some tacos with rice and beans and their Hawaiian pizza. The pizza was delicious, perfectly cooked with a good cheese to sauce ratio and a nice crunchy crust. It is clear from the first bite that the ingredients they use are high quality. Got a generous lunch break so took a walk to venture out to Tacompadre. Located in McFadden Public House, I believe, it's one of the two vendors in here. In fact, shares the same general area, I'm assuming it's the same owner/crew too? Not quite sure. I was the first one there, and was alone for the first half of the lunch hour. Score for me because I wanted so chill time. I ordered the 3 taco platter -- pollo, asada, and al pastor. Came with rice and beans. At the end of the service area, they had their salsas and other condiments. From what I saw, there were 3 salsas (two looked alike) and then there was a smaller container with the black salsa. I love salsa so I got all of em. I especially liked their rojo salsa. Their green was good too. Their black salsa was interesting to me. Don't think I've ever had this before. It was like Smokey, sweet and spicy?! I couldn't stop myself from eating it with every bite. The tacos were just ok. The meat lacked some salt, which was fine cuz means more salsa for me. However, in general, tacos were just ok. Will satisfy if you're craving it but it is not the first taco place that would come to mind if I had to pick a spot.
