all you need is love and tacos
Trina V.

Definitely one of my favorite taco spots in the Twin Cities! My dad used to take my brother and I to the New Hope food truck, so that already provides a nostalgic vibe, but nostalgia aside, the tacos here are actually pretty good and are authentic street tacos. The Asada, lengua and tripa are very flavorful, with a well balanced meat, topping, tortilla ratio. Also, the green and red salsas are both spicy (not just "Minnesota Spicy") which I love! It's all counter serve but there's seats scattered throughout the small restaurant. Also, a small lot is available in front. Would recommend a visit to the restaurant or the food truck if you get the chance!

Carnitas, birria tacos, and flautas. Side of guac and salsa... ALL AMAZING!! Very kind staff and beautiful presentation of food. We definitely eat here again and have already started telling friends to go try it!

Carne asada taco combo with rice and beans. Squeeze some fresh lime, add their salsa verde. Mmm good.

Carne asada tacos were crispy at first bite, and juicy with the next. Good meat, cooked well. Darn good taco.

We had heard of this place from a Facebook suggestion on a community page, given my husband has a bean and rice love, we stopped in here for a day date lunch and it hit all levels of great authentic Mexican food! I'm a huge fan of Elote and good good street tacos! Price is perfect for a quick lunch and service is speedy! We will be back!

Supermercado y Panadería Loma Bonita has quickly become one of my weekly go-to stops--part grocery…read morerun, part reward meal. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a diverse selection of dairy products, sodas, and snacks that you don't typically find all in one place. That variety directly stood out to me. Unlike many markets that focus on just one country, Loma Bonita offers a wide range of products from across Latin America, including El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and more. One area for improvement is pricing clarity. In some sections, particularly dairy, labels can be difficult to match to specific items. That said, the staff at the checkout counter is willing to assist with price checks. As you move through the store, the selection just keeps getting better: fresh cuts of meat, frozen goods from around the world, and ready-to-eat hot meals. There's even a paletero (ice cream stand) tucked near the back by the produce section. The produce department stands out for its range, availability and affordability. It's great to find items like culantro, yellow (ripe) and green plantains, papaya, guava, mango, nance, yuca, and malanga, along with standard produce. Having all this fresh and reasonably priced is a big plus. What is the reward of visiting Loma Bonita? Their restaurant food! I almost always leave with a "Burrito de Asada" or "Huarache de Asada". Everything is made fresh to order, though they also offer convenient grab-and-go options like whole chicken and Mexican rice. On weekends, the menu expands with items like menudo and tacos dorados, making it more enticing to visit. There are multiple Loma Bonita locations in the Twin Cities, and while this one may be smaller, it's still packed with great finds. Pro tip: For homemade tacos, get their fresh, handmade corn tortillas. They're a game changer!

The place recently remodeled to add a bunch more space for the restaurant and it feels much more open. The staff has always been great and, if able, are happy to speak english. It definitely helps if you know the basics, though since it's 99% a spanish-speaking joint. The pastries are always flavorful and fresh. I love their orange blossom and anise sesame buns, pan de feria, and conchas. The chicharrones are always on the deli counter and you grab your own with some tongs. Tons of meat on them and a few minutes in the air fryer make the meat tender and the skin crispy. Haven't tried their hot bar or restaurant yet but I hope to soon.

The staff was friendly enough and the food came out in a timely manner, but I was a little disappointed with the quality. I ordered a couple of carnitas tacos with rice and beans to go. The rice and beans were great, but the meat...now I like it a little crispy, but this was more like it was scraped from the bottom of the pan. The meat was really greasy, burnt, and there was a large bone in one of the tacos. Like I said, perhaps it was an off day, but it was a little off putting. Maybe I'd try again if I'm in the area.

I loved their Flavocano hot sauce, my god it was bomb! I want to buy some! Their chips and guac were not great, I was expecting homemade chips not ones I'd get from any bag at a grocery store (which I would never choose these in particular since they had no flavor to them) and their guac didn't seem fresh or homemade... it lacked thickness and flavor... I also didn't like that even though I got a vegetarian meal they still charge extra for guac (unlike Chipotle). It was fast service, and the restaurant looked clean and taken care of. Service was very friendly and efficient (more than some Chipotles that I have been to). I would go back since it still was good experience with great food, but I would still choose Chipotle over this any day (for food quality and price).

I imagine Minnesotans with a low tolerance to spice enjoy their food, but I was disappointed. The flavor was lacking in each ingredient of my burrito until I dipped it in the hot salsa. It was not busy at all, but it was after dinner rush and before bar time. There is a parking lot with one handicapped spot. The restaurant is spacious, not fancy, but they are pretty new (open less than a year) and looked like they were adding things. It was a little chilly, but it was the day of the first snowstorm of the season and I suspect they had just not adjusted the thermostat yet. There are a few TVs all showing sports. Chips and salsa were served and were good. Possibly house made chips? I didn't ask. The salsa has a little spice hit at the end, but I am a spice wimp and it wasn't too bad. It looked like a full bar, but we just wanted water. The music was a bit too loud, hard to have a conversation. The service was certainly not hurried, but not too slow. Shredded Beef Burrito-really good but not well mixed. The first half was mostly rice, with the beans and meat mostly on the other side. There were plenty of beans and meat. This review has been long overdue because Riviera Maya is one of my top 5 favorite places to eat…read morewhen I can't decide what I want and need a filling meal. My top favorite dishes: - "QUESABIRRIA TACOS"!!! If you come for NOTHING else, the Quesabirria tacos are the only thing you should strongly consider stopping by for. Stuffed to the brim with tender, shredded, slow-cooked beef and cheese, served with a hearty consomé for dipping, these Quesabirria tacos will brighten anyone's cloudy day. If you're looking at the menu and nothing speaks to you, want to try something new, are in the mood for a comfort meal, or just want to guarantee a solid meal, the Quesabirria tacos are your fool-proof option. - "Enchiladas Tapatias". My backup dish if I'm not in the mood for Quesabirria tacos is these stuffed chicken enchiladas, covered in a cheese sauce. Served with rice, refried beans, lettuce, tomato & sour cream, this dish is a cheesy, gooey, delicious bite, every time. -"Taquitos Mexicanos". Four deep-fried taquitos stuffed with chicken or beef, served with guac, lettuce, tomato & sour cream. You won't find these bad boys anywhere else but in the appetizers section. If you blink twice, you might miss it. If you're not too hungry, this is a great, "light" option that's both filling and high protein ;-) -"Family Style 15 Street Tacos". This is a meal my family consumes at least once a month. It's practical, filling, and leaves leftovers! For $40, you get 15 corn tortilla tacos (your choice of protein), rice, refried beans, guacamole, chips, salsa, cilantro, & onion. If you need a meal for a group of 4-6, this is a phenomenal option. There are several other family-style options (including Margarita Mix ), ranging from $20-$50, available, but I've only tried & returned for the street tacos. -"Beergarita". This margarita with a twist is served with an upside-down 7 oz. Corona. Refreshing and stiff, this signature drink is a fun option to try with any meal. Riviera Maya is a delightful family-owned restaurant. The service is exceptional. Our family is always treated with the best care and attention.
