Finally got to check out Tacos El Notte Gurnee. I personally have to say I like this one more compared to the lake bluff one. So, let me get into it! The food was definitely much different than the lake bluff one. The menu was much better and had more options for sure. I got the taco bowl and I have to say it was really worth it! I felt satisfied and full after eating it! My co work got the 3 taco dinner and he pointed out that has tortillas were dry and hard. The service was good. Our waitress checked in with us often which I liked! The atmosphere really reminded me of restaurants that I visited when I was in Mexico! I really loved the decor! Was there on Sunday I ordered queso fundido and flautas. The queso Fundo had a consistency like soup. It was runny, literally put my spoon in and pour it right back into the plate. My flautas had absolutely no taste. I couldn't tell you if it was beef or chicken. I think they mixed it with refried beans, cause the consistency was weird. The meat that was in there was burnt to a crisp. It was absolutely awful. The salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. The service was slow. And no follow up to see if everything was ok or a refill of my drink was needed. There was nothing good about my experience at this location. Tacos El Norte is a really good authentic Mexican restaurant. Since one of my coworkers found this one and he has taken me there we are there three days in a row. I have enjoyed soups and enchiladas thus far and all were really good. The salsa isn't the best I've ever had but I like a really good flavorful Spicy salsa and unfortunately the salsa is not that spicy, but it is still good and for being in the north that says something as I know that northerners don't typically like spicy so it's not something I like as much. My favorite thus far has been the ground beef enchiladas with verde sauce. But if you are under the weather try one of their soups they are delicious. read more

Just went food was terrible. Tortillas weren't cooked my fluta was burnt and stale my friends food didn't come with the right ingredients and didn't taste good and the tortillas were also super dry . I was in the mood for tacos but at the same time didn't want to go to an expensive place for tacos and not get much for how much I spent. I have been here before back and early 2000 when I used to attend University of Phoenix with some classmates living up here. It's family owned and they have other locations but this is the one I remember. Reason why 3 out of 5 stars is because despite the food was good and I felt I got the wrong order for tacos. I wanted one beef tongue and one sirloin tacos but then wanted an extra Taco but it was sirloin and ended up being the beef tongue which was incorrect. Nevertheless it was delicious but I really wanted the sirloin Taco extra. Just really tell the staff for server what you want otherwise they're going to assume wrong. That's the first thing that came to mind, but growing up in the Waukegan area and the recent closing of that Tacos El Norte, I can safely say this restaurant is just as good as the other location. But what is there to say? Entering the eatery, the place was clean, and welcoming, and I was greeted well by the waitress. The wait wasn't as long upon my arrival as the food was handed to me promptly. The quality has lived up to my previous experiences, though, to test their consistency, and I've arrived at this location a few times before writing this review. And overall, each visit has yet to disappoint! As for the food, I am a fan of burritos. As this dish does test the quality of the entrees, fillings, and quality of each ingredient. The steak? Delicious! Grilled Chicken? Worth trying and unique! Their horchatas? One of the best! Our experience was good. The only reason they didn't get five stars, is they had entertainment that was actually pretty good, but way too LOUD! And we were all the way on the other side. Pretty solid, average Mexican spot! I've had better but I would order again, too. We ordered on a whim. Went with the trusty tacos...I ordered all steak and my husband ordered a variety of ground beef, etc paired with beans and rice. 1 horchata, too. I loved mine with the green salsa but the steak was a bit overdone. It ended up being more chewy. Beans and rice were so good! Horchata was one of the best I've had in the area.
