This place huge and the food is very so so, at best. If you have very low expectations for flavor, quality, or service, you may not be too disappointed with them. read more

"Amazing food and even better people!" Tacos El Norte is outstanding! The food is always fresh and full of flavor, but what really makes this place special is the staff. Management is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the waitresses are attentive, kind, and always smiling. You feel taken care of from the moment you walk in. Easily a 5-star experience every time! read more

Tacos El Norte - Shrimp Burrito - Mexican Near Me - Gurnee, Illinois

The food seemed to be reheated - chiles rellenos with shrimp. The cheese was still cold and not even melted and only 2 shrimps in each pimiento. They need to change the cooks there. It's been coming down through the past 2-3 years. This used to be a good restaurant. read more

Finally got to check out Tacos El Notte Gurnee. I personally have to say I like this one more compared to the lake bluff one. So, let me get into it! The food was definitely much different than the lake bluff one. The menu was much better and had more options for sure. I got the taco bowl and I have to say it was really worth it! I felt satisfied and full after eating it! My co work got the 3 taco dinner and he pointed out that has tortillas were dry and hard. The service was good. Our waitress checked in with us often which I liked! The atmosphere really reminded me of restaurants that I visited when I was in Mexico! I really loved the decor! Overall, I would say check TENG if you want to try a very good menu! read more

people say this used to be a good restaurant. I never found that to be the case. The tacos were not good, the tables were sticky, floors were dirty. we tried going several times but always the same. I thik most of their help went to Jalisco down the road which isn't much better read more

Service is fine, food is just ok. Food lacked a bit of seasoning, especially the refried beans. It's a serviceable Mexican restaurant but nothing really stands out a really good. There are better places to go but this isn't the worst option. read more

Was there on Sunday I ordered queso fundido and flautas. The queso Fundo had a consistency like soup. It was runny, literally put my spoon in and pour it right back into the plate. My flautas had absolutely no taste. I couldn't tell you if it was beef or chicken. I think they mixed it with refried beans, cause the consistency was weird. The meat that was in there was burnt to a crisp. It was absolutely awful. The salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. The service was slow. And no follow up to see if everything was ok or a refill of my drink was needed. There was nothing good about my experience at this location. I won't even try the other locations because it was so bad.. read more

I recently visited tacos El Norte because I was given a gift card for my birthday. I decided to bring the kids with me. The kids enjoyed their food. My burrito was okay. The burrito wasn't rolled well and I basically had to eat it like a giant taco. The sauces seemed watered down. They had a pretty good horchata and the service was really good. Our waitress checked on us a few times to make sure we were good and didn't need anything else. read more

Food was good. Service: had to remind server several times for water. Bill: charged me twice for hot tea @ 3.49 each. Asked them to correct bill & they overcharged me on tax. I had my calculator to show them & they still overcharged me. I'll not go back. read more

The food was disappointing to say the least. I had a barbacoa taco (not pictured) and it was bland. Got a milanesa torta and it was also bland. My friend had the menudo and she said it was not tasty she couldn't even eat it. Our server almost charged us $20 extra so make sure to check your bill..... the music stopped halfway through and our waitress really didn't check up on us. Pretty disappointing visit. read more

One of my favorite place for Mexican food! Their food is always good. I've tried a couple of things but I always go for their steak tacos. Service is really quick depending how busy they are but I never have an issue. Sometimes they play music, which is always a good vibe! read more

Tacos El Norte is a really good authentic Mexican restaurant. Since one of my coworkers found this one and he has taken me there we are there three days in a row. I have enjoyed soups and enchiladas thus far and all were really good. The salsa isn't the best I've ever had but I like a really good flavorful Spicy salsa and unfortunately the salsa is not that spicy, but it is still good and for being in the north that says something as I know that northerners don't typically like spicy so it's not something I like as much. My favorite thus far has been the ground beef enchiladas with verde sauce. But if you are under the weather try one of their soups they are delicious. read more

Just went food was terrible. Tortillas weren't cooked my fluta was burnt and stale my friends food didn't come with the right ingredients and didn't taste good and the tortillas were also super dry . The pina coladas had huge chunks of ice and couldn't drink them and the water taste like sink water so disappointing read more

It was a good authentic Mexican restaurant. I forgot what region they cover but it was tasty. I was in the mood for tacos but at the same time didn't want to go to an expensive place for tacos and not get much for how much I spent. I have been here before back and early 2000 when I used to attend University of Phoenix with some classmates living up here. It's family owned and they have other locations but this is the one I remember. Reason why 3 out of 5 stars is because despite the food was good and I felt I got the wrong order for tacos. I wanted one beef tongue and one sirloin tacos but then wanted an extra Taco but it was sirloin and ended up being the beef tongue which was incorrect. Nevertheless it was delicious but I really wanted the sirloin Taco extra. Just really tell the staff for server what you want otherwise they're going to assume wrong. I would still come back but I'll probably go for their fajitas. the tacos was good too just really emphasized to the servers what you want despite poor understanding read more

Nope. Nope. Nope. Salsa and chips are not complimentary. You have to pay for them! The salsa is canned, not fresh. Tacos, lettuce cheese and tomato. How is this authentic? And for the carne or platos they don't even have cebollitas, the authentic green ones. They brought me a yellow onion that was sautéed. read more

Called and ordered 3 chicken tacos with double rice. I asked how big the horchata cup was she said she didn't know. I said when I come in I'll look. I came in and Estella is very rude and disrespectful. Went to my car and ate two tacos almost chocked on a wire piece that you see in the picture in top of the sour cream. we called back asked for a refined and I spoke with the cashier. I asked for her name and she said you don't need my name the manager Jose will be here tomorrow and can give you a refund. She said she couldn't give the refund because her drawer would be short. She said you can come back now and I can give you move food. I said no I wanted a refund. read more

Excellent Service! That's the first thing that came to mind, but growing up in the Waukegan area and the recent closing of that Tacos El Norte, I can safely say this restaurant is just as good as the other location. But what is there to say? Entering the eatery, the place was clean, and welcoming, and I was greeted well by the waitress. The wait wasn't as long upon my arrival as the food was handed to me promptly. The quality has lived up to my previous experiences, though, to test their consistency, and I've arrived at this location a few times before writing this review. And overall, each visit has yet to disappoint! As for the food, I am a fan of burritos. As this dish does test the quality of the entrees, fillings, and quality of each ingredient. The steak? Delicious! Grilled Chicken? Worth trying and unique! Their horchatas? One of the best! So is Tacos El Norte is firmly a highly advised place you should eat at if you're craving for something Hispanic to eat! read more

I love this tacos, del Norte I feel all of them have good food, but this one is definitely the classiest and nicest one. I had great service with great food. me and my wife truly enjoyed the fajita, and, as an appetizer we had ( shrimp queso fundido) I think this is the only tacos del Norte that serves us it was so so good can't wait to go back read more

This place has a complete lack of management being coming here for a while as we live near by but everything I come I tell myself need to find another place. Terrible service on average, you always see many workers all doing nothing, most servers are like zombies and have a bad attitude. Looks like no one is in charge and there's no organization. I'm here now and some one brought us the menus wearing AirPods clearly not paying attention didn't even say hi ... Good it's average ok Lack of management / ownership read more

Food was ok but not prepared correctly. You have to be sure if you're with a group of people, to ask for separate checks. Otherwise it will come out on 1 check. That in my mind is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! The Server should ask the table if it will be separate checks! The gratuity I give should NOT be calculated off someone else's order. The server is being LAZY and GREEDY if they do not ask a table if order is on same check or different checks! read more

Tacos el Norte Gurnee catered our party for 75 people. the order arrived early, the order was 100% correct, the delivery team helped setup the food, the food was piping hot and delicious. The previous week, I joined a few friends for lunch. one of my friends ordered tacos that looked so great that we went back the following week and all of us ordered them. When they came to the table, we were so disappointed. they were on different shells. There was hardly any meat or other regular fixings. we said something to the waitress but she didn't say anything. We said we wouldn't be back. No answer. So inconsistent! Needless to say, we left there still hungry. read more

I order from this place often my food is always ready on time, friendly service and the food is always delicious!!

We went here Saturday night for dinner. All in all, it was a good time. We didn't have any issues with service, but I could see why others complained. Lots of friends of the servers at the bar. Our experience was good. The only reason they didn't get five stars, is they had entertainment that was actually pretty good, but way too LOUD! And we were all the way on the other side. I ordered the mixed Fajitas. Everything was done great and seasoned very well. My son ordered the quesadillas. They looked great. He wouldn't share and ate them all up. My wife ordered a steak burrito and loved it. Their food is really fresh and they did a great job. They need to keep the music a few decibels softer please. read more

Be aware that the waitress' are not thorough! they don't ask questions! Examples: Burrito salad bowl ordered and I didn't receive a taco shell because I didn't know I had the option! Pretty solid, average Mexican spot! I've had better but I would order again, too. We ordered on a whim. Went with the trusty tacos...I ordered all steak and my husband ordered a variety of ground beef, etc paired with beans and rice. 1 horchata, too. I loved mine with the green salsa but the steak was a bit overdone. It ended up being more chewy. Beans and rice were so good! Horchata was one of the best I've had in the area. I would give another star but it didn't have any wow factor. Keep in mind this was a take out order. read more

Havn't been here in quite awhile and remember why now. Food was good, came quickly and was made to order. Service was poor poor and poor. Our waitress took the order and then proceeded to sit and eat in front of all the customers. A dishwasher or similar person brought our food to the table and left us. No one checked on us no refills on our drinks nothing. I wouldn;t woory about trying this place it will be closed soon if service stays the way it was. One Star is one to many read more

This was the first time we went to this location. Usually the food is great. The service was good. Got a table right away. It was not busy at all. The Margaritas were ok. Tasted like it was a premix out of a bottle, $8 not worth it. We each ordered the El Norte burrito plate. I don't mind onion but however it was ALL onion. Both of our burrito had 3 slices of steak 3 thin slices. Enough to make 1 taco. read more
