Ours was about 45 minutes. They ended up seating us at a shared high-top table with another couple, which honestly wasn't a big deal. For appetizers, I ordered the shishito peppers with this orange marmalade-style dipping sauce, and WOW -- those were phenomenal. The peppers were fried perfectly with just the right crispiness and a little salt, and that sweet orange sauce paired with them so well. Definitely one of the best things we ordered. My friends also got queso, salsa, and ceviche. The ceviche was fresh and delicious, but the salsa was way too hot for me personally. I took one bite and couldn't handle another. For my entrée, I ordered the carne asada, and unfortunately it just was not what I expected. Instead of the thinner, flavorful steak I'm used to, it was a thick chunk of meat that was really chewy, fatty, and honestly lacked flavor. It just didn't work for me at all. The rice and beans were decent though, so no complaints there. The service was okay, but our server definitely seemed overwhelmed or maybe just uninterested. We often didn't see her for long stretches of time, so when she did come by, we had multiple things to ask for. It kind of felt like we were a burden anytime we needed something, which put a little damper on the experience. Overall, I'd probably give this place a 6/10. There were definitely some highlights, especially the appetizers and the atmosphere, and I'd still be willing to go back and try something different because I don't want one disappointing entrée to completely ruin the place for me.

Mexican music was playing in the dining room with only tables and padded chairs to sit at, no booths. There is a parking lot & an outdoor patio which could be great in warm weather. Note, they are closed on Tuesdays. We were seated right away & our server immediately brought over complimentary Tortilla Chips & Salsa. Both were good - the salsa was mild & the chips were good too but needed some salt. Service was okay, we did have to wait awhile to get our food after ordering & to get our check to pay. We ordered two combination meals. The first was two Cheese Enchiladas & one Beef Enchilada. The sauce on the enchiladas was great, very flavorful - nice & spicy and the cheese enchiladas were delicious with lots of cheese. We didn't care for the beef enchilada since it had shredded beef not ground beef. (We were expecting ground beef & didn't ask beforehand.) The other combo was a Cheese Enchilada, Chile Relleno & a Beef Taco. The Chile Relleno was very tender & cheesy. The Cheese Enchilada was good as in the other combo. The Beef Taco was disappointing as it had shredded beef & was soggy. We also had a side of rice & beans that lacked seasoning & was bland. Overall, big platters of food with wonderful cheese enchiladas & chile rellenos plus I always appreciate complimentary chips & salsa.

And then they brought out the chips, which no joke were the worst tortilla chips I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant- where did they go wrong? So unfortunately at this point we just decided to leave and go to another restaurant down the street... (Also this picture in the menu of the "chicken enchilada" versus the "supreme chicken enchilada," makes it look like the only difference between the two is that for the "supreme" one, you get an extra olive )

My daughter and…read moreher fiancé wanted comfort food last night, so we went to Birdhouse and, like always, left totally satisfied. We got the Birdhouse Flight to start--guac, five-cheese queso, and their birdhouse salsa (a tasty, mild tomatillo). Seriously, it's the best way to start your meal. For dinner, we all had ramen. I went for the Hellfire with extra bok choy. This ramen is no joke. If you want something spicy, this is it. The chili sauce, flakes, and oil really bring the heat. The kids got the Tonkotsu, which was amazing as usual--great broth and super tender meat. I had my spicy ramen with a Juicy Bits from WeldWerks, perfect combo. Seriously, it's some of the best ramen and service around North Denver. Whether it's for a special day or just a chilly night. Birdhouse is always good. I totally recommend it!

So it was shocking that I found such a good bowl out here in Erie. I got the Hellfire Ramen, a tonkotsu-based ramen served with their house spicy sauce, chili oil, pork shoulder, and a soft boiled egg. The broth was rich and flavorful, the spice level was perfect (quiet hot but still maintaining a good balance of flavors), and the pork shoulder was tender but still has a bit of nice toothsomeness. Overall, this was an excellent bowl of ramen comparable to any of the top spots in Denver. The only slight downside is that the broth was just a tough too salty for my liking, and I would've preferred a soy marinated egg over a soft boiled egg. They have other ramen here was well, such as a chicken-based shio ramen, a regular tonkotsu, and a Thai curry ramen. I definitely would return to try the other ramen. If the other items on this menu is as tasty, I wouldn't hesitate to give them 5 stars.

At least on this day, at this time. Chad and I got to the restaurant around 1:15 PM yesterday. There weren't many people at the establishment, maybe one other party inside and one outside. We were greeted fairly quickly and were seated by a lovely woman. She was very helpful and answered all of our questions about the menu, and was quick to give recommendations. We started with chips and salsa, and I ordered a Skinny Margarita. Yes, it's a little out of the ordinary to charge for chips and salsa, but I thought both were amazing. The salsa was fresh and really tasty (and tasted nothing like ketchup, which I despise). I've had a lot of horrible salsas; this was not horrible at all, and neither were the chips, crunchy and delicious, imo. The skinny margarita, which was $14, was huge and actually worth the cost. The lovely waitress gave me the Happy Hour cost of the margarita ($10) since we were paying right about when HH started (2 PM). Chad noticed that they had a Cheese Crispi (or just Cheese Crisp as we AZ folks like to call it), but we were pretty hungry and really just wanted meals. I got the Vegetarian Burrito and asked that it be smothered with the sour cream cheese sauce that I saw on another vegetarian dish, the Chimichanga de Hongos. I'm sure I put on a few pounds from that sauce alone, and it was 100% worth it! The entire dish was SO GOOD! Chad got the Expresso Burrito and couldn't even finish the whole thing, not for want of trying, though. I don't know if we had the good luck to come at a good/slow time, and that's why we had such a wonderful experience, but I almost felt like I was at a totally different restaurant than the one being reviewed here. When we are in the area again, Chad and I will definitely be visiting Fuego Azteca again and trying out the Cheese Crispi and the Deep Fried Ice Cream!
