After hearing great things about Tacos Del 8 on a neighborhood chat forum, we booked them to serve food for a surprise party in the backyard. We had tacos, fajitas, and quesadillas which were made to order with chicken and beef. We also subbed shrimp for the rice and beans as we had those coming from a different vendor. The food was hot, tasty, and plentiful. Our guests just couldn't get enough of it! Many people in our group of 50 got seconds and thirds and we still had leftovers. Tacos Del 8 was great to work with. They arrived 1.5 hours before they were set to start and they seemed to be in no rush to breakdown their booth after the agreed upon two hour serving time. They brought everything they needed - a tent, tables, table coverings, cook top, plates, utensils, and all the fixings - sour cream, salsa, cilantro, cheese, guacamole, and chips. The price and menu are pretty much set, so there's no guessing what you'll be receiving. Communication was excellent (phone, text and email), so I'm guessing some of these Yelp reviewers complaining about this issue - maybe it's you as it tends to be so many times. They showed up on time, set up, and served at the promised time. Teresa and the kids set up everything up nicely. Carne asada, chicken, and al pastor for the meats. They also had quesadillas with Mexican cheese, a mixture of onions and peppers, calavacitas, and all the condiments and fixings. We decided to give Tacos Del 8 a try because when we were looking for caterers for our event, they were recommended by a couple different people. We came here to check the reviews and we were encouraged even more to do business with them by the pictures past customers have posted and because of the positive reviews they receive on the taste and quality of their food. We looked past the reviews that mentioned that they are hard to get a hold of or that they don't respond because we just didn't think it was that bad. Unfortunately, it is this way. I sent texts with all the information they required of us about our event and it would be over 1 day of no response from them. I figured they were probably just busy, so I would just send them a quick text asking for an update. They would reply asking the same questions we had already answered and basically it was as if it was our first time talking through text. When I suggested I'd call instead, they replied stating they prefer text. At that point, unreliability was why we decided to not continue trying to get a quote from them. We were pretty bummed we weren't able to do business with them. Tacos Del 8 catered a friend's party recently, and they knocked it out of the park. They are the real deal! They featured tacos with carne asada, pollo, al-pastor, and chorizo. The tacos de pollo that I tried were authentic and delicious. I also got a cheese quesadilla, grilled veggies, rice, and beans, and I was totally satisfied. Of course, they had all of the necessary fixings, including homemade salsas, cilantro, guacamole, etc. My herbivorous wife found out that the rice and beans were vegetarian, so she was very happy. She had the rice and beans, the quesadillas, and the veggies, so she did not walk away hungry, either. We also found out that they can bring soy chorizo if requested. If you haven't tried soy chorizo, you'll be surprised how much it tastes like chorizo. Their prices are very reasonable. Tacos Del 8 has recently started coming over to our building on Tuesdays. That seemingly appears to have been a sound business decision considering nearly everyone in the office antiicpates Taco Tuesdays now. Everyone was a bit weary of them at first, but once they got a dose of their 3 for $5 tacos, not to mention, their very accommodating staff (you know service is commendable they can wow you within that 2 minute interaction.) You can do mix and match tacos and quesadillas with chorizo, chicken, asada and carnitas. All the fixins are free, as well the chips. Throw in an extra buck, and it comes with a soda. They season their meats really well and handle the food with care. This is easily making it into my weekly food staples at work. I'm glad they don't come more often or I'd be eating tacos every day of the week. read more

I first found out about TacosDel8 because I was going to be hosting a birthday party for my wife at a public park in Irvine. The folks at Irvine said that any vendor that is there must have an Irvine business license and show proof of insurance. I did a search on the Irvine business license website for "tacos" and, sure enough, "TacosDel8" was on the list. There were others on the list, too, but when I contacted Ralph and Teresa they almost immediately responded with exactly what I was looking for. After reviewing all these amazing reviews on Yelp I thought to myself "these are the folks I want to serving great food to my friends at my party!" Everything from then on could not have been better. Teresa and Ralph was great at helping me get all the needed paperwork for the city, and they were super clear about exactly what they would be serving. On the day of the event, they were on time and completely prepared. I didn't have to do a single thing. They just "handled it." Ralph, Teresa and their daughter lovingly prepared the BEST tacos, quesadillas, guacamole and all kinds of side dishes. They even brought chiclets for my guests (what a great touch!). When things were winding down they prepared "to go" boxes for all my guests, which they LOVED! I can't recommend TacosDel8 enough and only wish I could rate them even higher than 5-stars. What can I say? They are terrific. They are generous, reasonibly priced and delicious. I hired them for my wedding back in 2010 and my 30th birthday party in 2011. They let me come taste their food before I hired them. I can see why, they didn't dissappoint. I always refer them to anyone that asks and all my friends throwing a party. All their meat is tasty and does not have big chunks of fat or mystery chunks. I hate when you bite into fat and gross meat particles in a taco.. Taco's Del 8 has good quality meat. I honestly chose them because they had such great reviews in Yelp, and I'm so glad I chose them for our party. Ralph and Yesenia got to the venue right on time and began set up. They were super pleasant to talk to and you can tell he puts his heart and soul into this business. The set up was great because they have a board that blocks people, especially kids, from getting too close to the grill. The food was beyond delicious! I've now had two occasions to try Tacos Del 8. We had rave reviews from all who attended the gatherings. They were prompt and efficient. Arrived and set up on time. I saw that someone previously complained about getting a prompt decline for a date. I'd much prefer that to holding out hope and finding out later that they weren't available. We too got an auto response to our first inquiry. We followed with an email as requested and got a timely response... with all the details worked out and in writing. Glad they were available and will be gaining new clients because of this. I had these guys come out last Saturday for a birthday party with 60 guests. I could not have asked for better food or service! The 2 ladies that were sent were very nice, showed up on time and even started serving a little early (they asked first). The food was perfect as well. Good quality meat with no extra fat or gristle. The salsas were spot on and very flavorful as was the guacamole. The little extras was what made the evening perfect such as simple quesadillas and veggie tacos that I didn't even request but were great for the kids and the one vegetarian. We had Tacos Del 8 cater my sons birthday party at Irvine Park Railroad. Setting up the event with Tacos Del 8 was easy and smooth. The tacos were a hit with my guests. The 4 meats we had were carne asada, pollo, chorizo, and al pastor. My only concern was that they ran out of pollo, chorizo, and al pastor. But, that's probably because my guests all over eat (like me). They had plenty of carne asada though. So, if you order from them, you might want to specify if you like certain meats more so that can bring more of that instead. I like the way they cook the tortillas in oil and toast them on the grill. Some taco places just serve the meat on steamed tortillas. Steamed tortillas are not as good as toasted in oil! The condiments are great - they add cucumber too! Yes, 5 stars! We hired Tacos Del 8 for a 4 year old & 2 year old's birthday party in July at Irvine Regional Park. The group pulled through without the slightest bit of a hiccup and I would hire them again, without reservation. Food was for 50ppl (minimum order) but its a good thing to have leftovers, if u have less than 50 party guests; you can take & will honestly want the extra food for yourself, I promise!! The taco meats were Asada, Al Pastor, Pollo & normally would also have been Chorizo, however, we didn't serve this b/c we knew our guests wouldn't eat it. They also include mini quesadillas in their package which is great if you have kids!! The condiment table had the most delicious watery guacamole sauce, spiciest roasted salsa (but so worth the pain & tears), fresh cucumber (yess!!!), sour cream, onions, etc.; it was all there. Beans and rice had good texture--beans were watery-ish which was way better than the typical refried beans & the rice had a mild but nice flavor that complimented the tacos well. You get to keep all the leftovers so be sure to bring a cooler to store it in! Ralph & Laura showed up right on time to set up (1.5hrs in advance) and were ready for their first "customer" at 12:00, as planned. They were very organized, friendly and unassuming which I liked because it wasn't awkward to have them around. Ralph was even so nice as to make me a fresh plate of food when he noticed that I had gotten too busy to eat the original. Once the 2hr cooking time was up, Ralph & Laura stayed for a bit in case anyone wanted more food and were even so kind as to help pack it up. We had the fortune of running across Tacos Del 8 on yelp. My wife and I had been looking for food vendors for our recent wedding reception. We had researched several of the major caterers ( Choura,etc) and compared services with prices and customer reviews. Ultimately the amazing reviews for Tacos Del 8 swayed us , and let me tell you , Tacos Del 8 came through big time. From the very beginning they were excellent with communication, got back to us in a timely manner and were patient with all of our requirements and questions. They made us feel at ease and very comfortable, which meant a lot to us during the wedding preparation process. We contacted them about 8 months in advance after reading all of the amazing reviews on yelp. They were even kind enough to schedule a pre-tasting during one of their regular catering gigs. They allowed us to try anything on their menu and did so in a very kind way. They did not make us feel rushed and actually made us feel very relaxed during the process. Those reviews are dead on accurate. Their food was delicious, so much so that people are still talking about the food almost two weeks after the wedding =). Many if not all of our guests came back for seconds and or thirds to say the least. And our guests know their Mexican food trust me, so for them to shower so many compliments is not to be taken lightly. Their food is top notch hands down. I am so glad we chose them over any other caterer. We ordered the following from them: Tacos: Chicken, Carne Asada, Soy Chorizo and Al Pastor ( they were so nice they ended up throwing in some Chorizo as well , we didnt ask for it but they insisted. They are way too nice!) Quesadillas: Same meats as above plus grilled Veggies Sides: Beans/Rice, Chips, Guacamole and Grilled Veggies. All of the food was amazing and literally made my mouth water. Simply put, this is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Its hard to pick out one thing above any other, every component in the meal exceeded our expectations. As others have stated, all ingredients and especially the meat are top notch quality. I did not taste one shred of fatty meat or ill cooked meat what so ever. They were also very good with our vegetarian guests, who all raved about the food just the same as the non-vegans. To top it off they threw in some extra meat for us and even helped out when our bartender ran out of ice. How awesome is that? That was another sign of how they go above and beyond with their customer service. They showed up on time, setup on time and had the tacos served precisely at the moment we had asked. They were clean, kind and served all of our guests with a smile. It seems like they took their food and customer service as if we were their own family, even serving us our plates at our honeymoon table. That was a class move, typical of all of our interactions with them. On top of it all they are fully insured and have all of their licensing is proper and valid ( our reception ground had very strict rules, all of which they met). Tacos del 8 is a professional company that goes above and beyond to make one feel comfortable and happy and even alleviates ones stress during the event. For example, they helped me with my lighting, they stayed later than they said and brought extra everything; plates, utensils, etc. I had guests coming at all hours of the night and I was happy to know that Tocos del 8 had food ready for the very first that arrived to the very last that arrived. The most important part were the tacos, and let me just say that they were so goooodd!!! I had people talking about those tacos to me for weeks after! I had four meats, quesadillas, rice, beans and their price was reasonable, not to mention that they even worked with my budget!!! That was so kind and most business' won't do that. I was very happy with their service. I heard of them through a friend on facebook, (great advice.) I used them for my boyfriends 30th birthday party that we both planned together, and it turns out that my boyfriend surprised me and asked me to marry him that day!!!
