Shutthefrontdoor!!!! Let's just start by saying if anyone wants to meet up, met me or simply start…read morestalking me, I will be at this location EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY between the hours of 12 and 4pm-------eating my weight in the BEST Mexican food ever!!! Out of sight out of this world out of bounds Dynamite!!
It's a food truck. It's a Mexican amazing food truck! I've seen this truck all winter long parked in this same area and it's been taunting me. Once, I even drove into the property to peek inside to see if it was run down or if it looked like it was in working order. It was clean and up to date inside so I had hope that one day I may see it live and running. Well this past Sunday (6/10) was that ever so long awaited day. And it was SO worth it!!!!! This place crushes all taco places in the area (sorry Diego- I still love you the other 6 days of the week). But Sundays, Sundays are reserved for God and now Tacos La Familia too!
When I got in line there was 26 people in front of me. Yes, 26 people but I didn't care. Even with all of my kids, I was waiting in that line! When I had my order in my hand 40 minutes later, there was still 29 people in line. It didn't let up. People upon people kept coming. And I'm certain it will be like that every single Sunday that they are open. For good reason. The food is simply legit delicious! Fresh. Made to order. Everything cut, diced, chopped, made by hand. Done is a cool food truck. With friendly people. Tacos and quesadillas $1.50 each, I ordered 2 chicken taco, 2 carnitas tacos, 1 chicken quesadilla, 1 carnitas quesadilla, and 1 chorizo quesadilla. Taco pitas were $3 and I got a chicken one. It's a thick, fluffy pita, kind of like a Greek pita you ask, maybe, very similar. It's stuffed to the gills with a protein of your choice and lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, jalapeños and avocados. Everyone was ordering these unique and HUGE pitas! So glad I got one too. The burritos were $6 each and another hot seller. The thing had to of weighted 3 pounds! It was the size of my forearm! I was going to get one too but the 8 things I had already ordered seemed like a good start. Later that afternoon I'd be kicking myself in the pants for not getting that burrito! Or just more in general. I was sad when it was all gone and eaten. Damn it- I wanted MORE! It was that good! They had can pops, horchata, Gatorade, Jamaica's, bottle water and Red Bull. They made durros for $1 and even had elotes for $1.50 cup. The corn is cut off the cob and served in a 16oz plastic cup with the traditional mayo and cotija cheese. The cup was over flowing with cheese and it was sooo good! Again, I was mad I didn't order a few of them to have later to eat. The best part was the condiment table. Oh man- this is where the meal took off! A whole 6ft table filled with 12 different pickled veggies, fresh veggies and salsa. There was limes, cilantro, sliced radishes, diced onions, sautéed onions, pickled whole jalapeños, pickled carrot chips, pickled red onion with habaneros- which melted my face off, fresh pico de gallo and another fresh pico with diced cactus, one hot sauce and one medium hot sauce. I could have made a meal out of that condiment table alone. I got 8 different things and my tab was $13 even. I threw some cash in the tip jar and walked back to my truck. We popped back in my Expedition and feasted!! This food isn't just food. It's love and life. It's heart and soul. And it's where I'll be every single Sunday from here til it closes in the cold months. Do I recommend?? Silly question!
