This jalapenos tasted like Mexican food for gringos. It was kind of bland and the menu was the typical, and tonight it fell flat and didn't really do it for me. Went with the chimichanga, I usually get that but this thing came out looking like a football, I got the beef with the jalapenos and the cheese on top. But even with the jalapenos and cheese on top it was just bland. Just ground beef, beans jalapenos and cheese didn't taste any flavor kind of a letdown should have picked something else. I wanted to get the nachos with the meat on them but they were 15 bucks and wouldn't do it with a half order so he just ended up getting the cheese nachos I think they were $7.99 they were loaded up with cheese and pretty tasty. But again nothing really set me off tonight got me thinking oh I got to go back to jalapenos for blah blah. Kind of boring sorry they're good people and it's clean. Great Mexican spot in Pontiac. First came here back in 2017 and then several times post pandemic and nothing has changed! Food is still on point, great (large) menu selection, good portions. Free chips and salsa and it tastes like they're made on the premises. Carne asada is moist and flavorful. Mexican rice and beans, you can't go wrong with it. I've had the burrito, tacos, enchilada, tostados. Everything is 5 stars. Gotta say the Mexican food scene in Michigan is amazing. Ive had a lot of Mexican food in SoCal, so that's saying a lot. Also it's up in Pontiac so by golly I'm pleasantly surprised and satisfied. I hope this place continues to flourish and stay open. Service is prompt and the free chips get refilled fast. Ambience is quiet, plenty of booth seating. Decor is colorful, the walls are decorated. Staff is very friendly. If it weren't such a drive for me I would come here every weekend. read more

So this is my mom favorite restaurant and I love coming here to celebrate, dinner, or any special occasions. This restaurant is a family owned business. It's looks different on the outside but the it a different vibe inside. There's plenty parking opportunities and it doesn't get busy here on weekends. So my mother and I came here on a Monday night to grab dinner before I had to fly back home. We were seated immediately, was given chips and salsa. There's three options of salsa from mild to spicy. Taste according to your spice level that you can handle. We ordered our drinks and food. I ordered the carne asada steak tacos and it came with rice and beans. (I skipped the bean option) I'm not a fan. My mom ordered the chicken enchiladas like always. So, half eating our food, and we asked for boxes to take our food to go. As I was pouring my rice into my to go box, I found a hair underneath the rice. I was disappointed and disgusted. I told the waitress and there was no apology or ask if I wanted a remade of the food. SO GOOD. I ate a variety of tacos a la carte and my friend had a meal, both were served hot and fresh. I thought everything was quite tasty. We both indulged in some adult beverages, and the Jalapenos lemonade was exceptionally delicious, do recommend! The food was good. It did take a while to get my Margarita. I ordered an Italian Margarita. It was very tart and honestly seemed like there was no alcohol in it at all. i don't drink often and it was a large Margarita and it didn't phase me at all. Normally one beer or glass of wine goes right to my head. I wouldn't order a margarita again. We love their chips and Avocado salsa. The portions for the food are large. On 10/7/23, we were visiting from Illinois and decided to stop and eat at Jalapeños Restaurant. The food was really good and the Top Shelf Margarita was well served and tasted great. We had the bistec a la Mexican, sope dinner, steak tacos, Carne Asada plate, and the chips were free. Plus our kids had the fried Ice Cream and my wife had the flan. Service: phenomenal Food: good Atmosphere: you create it Came to Jalapeños as a group of 6 people (that's the max for COVID precautions) and we were immediate seated. Our waiter Antonio was a great host, and overall we were always taken care of. He made sure our drinks were full, and that we were having a great time. The food wasn't all that amazing in my opinion, but hey.... it's probably better than other Mexican places around. I definitely have a bias. My friends enjoyed their food, and we all had a great night. I also noticed that the restaurant started getting really busy around 7pm, so just be mindful of that. How to begin. My boyfriend has lived in the White Lake area most of his life and this area is new to me. We have tried a number of restaurants in the area but none really hit the spot like going to the my fav near the Ambassador Bridge area downtown. The chips come with three different salsas, all of which are amazing: red, green and a fire roasted. All house made and served in bottle sized containers! The food is fresh and is delish. The only item I would change is the size of the fajita. I find this at most restaurants though. Otherwise everything else has been on point. Plus, feel free to order what you want made. I love cheese and add it to everything. I like burritos with Barbacoa or Carnitas, no beans. Their shredded chicken is moist and flavorful too! On occasion I may have ground beef but here I really enjoy their chicken most. I am not a grilled meat gal when at a Mexican restaurant. I enjoy the shredded meats which typically are roasted with yummy seasonings!! The shredded meats here are amazing. They will make your items with whatever meat(s) you enjoy. If you have never ordered Queso Fundito please try it, a cheese dip for your chips or pour it over your Burrito,fajita or enchiladas.....If you don't like jalapeños let them know we always have those held.
