I would say a perfect way to describe this place is what you wish Taco Bell actually tasted like. "Authentic Mexican?" Of course not, and I don't think it's trying to be. It's what you're imagining when you're craving Taco Bell. You finally get the motivation to put on pants and go to the drive-thru but it let's you down every time. This is it, Taco Bell done right. I would say the star is the Tacos. I tried the nachos and tacos and the nachos were good but the tacos surprised me. It's all in the shell. The shell is so light and airy. I don't know how they even stuff these things without breaking them. It just shatters when it touches your mouth it's so thin and crispy. Would I go way out of my way to try this place? Probably not. Was it tasty? Yes. Would I eat here again? Yes, and would probably just order so many tacos and nothing else. Wish they had better hot sauce to go with. I tried some of the packets they had and they almost ruined the food, just had an off flavor. All in all I think they achieved what they were going for and executed well for this type of food. My first time at this location and it did not disappoint. Two-lane drive through, quick and friendly service. Delicious food! I had a beef and bean burrito, BF had a beef and a chicken crunchy taco, and we shared a super nacho. My burrito was small for the price but filled with fresh ground beef and beans. BF said tacos were everything Taco Tree is about. Fresh, crunchy, crisp, delicious. Our nachos of course- more of the same. Don't forget taco sauce and jalepenos! Good basic taco. Very much agree with other reviews... it's like Taco Bell used to be. Clearly freshly made and freshly shredded cheese. I believe this a local operation which I very much like. I thought their drive-through was very efficient and the staff very polite. Taco shell crisp, cheese plentiful, lettuce fresh, ground beef well seasoned. Would not call this a destination spot. I would call it a "that sounds good since I'm in the area" spot. For some perspective I tend to favor very authentic taquerias. This one filled its intended niche very well which is inexpensive fast food done fresh. But if you're looking for authentic Mexican food and super flavorful tacos this might not be the spot for you. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. They screwed up our order in the drive thru (Rita), so we drove back and went in to get it fixed. The cashier (Marty) made me go back to the car to get the receipt, then my friend that was in the car realized hers was wrong as well. She was told they needed the receipt again and then she argued with me saying they didn't have the receipt when I clearly just gave it to them. Finally they get the receipt and say I need to pay the difference for chicken not beef. So I had to go back to the car to get my wallet. When I came in the manager (Sammy) starts lecturing me saying it was my fault because we didn't order it right. Never once did anyone apologize. Absolutely adore taco tree. If there was one closer to me I would go all the freaking time. Really fast service, the soda fountain is always bubbly and delicious, and they do not skimp of the topping. My go to order are just the classic beef tacos, minus the cheese. As 20 year patrons to this restaurant, going there multiple times per week, my family and I have noticed the quality going steeply downhill in the past few years. The service is usually okay but they are constantly messing up orders these days to the point where we have to check our orders every time before we leave the area because there's always something missing or screwed up. Also, many times they've screwed up we notice once we're already home and have never made a big thing of it and just ate the charge of the items they've forgotten (yes, it's often entire times they're not putting in the bag). This most recent time we went through the drive through they forgot our Large Taco Salad, an item that costs damn near $8 these days, the prices have all skyrocketed during this time that the service has plummeted. With an item that expensive, and also being the only thing my wife ordered, I drove all the way back to get it and asked to speak to the manager so that I could try to let him know that they need to pay more attention to the orders, explaining how much of a decline in accuracy we've noticed over these last few years. The employees there all know me, including the manager who I spoke to, and I've never once made any complaint to them once in the 20 years we've been frequenting the restaurant so I figured they would at least listen to what I have to say if I was being professional and coming from a place of wanting to give them valuable insight that would help them improve the issue. No. Instead the manager looked at the receipt, the date of which is literally RIGHT THERE, and tried initially to tell me that the the receipt was months old. It was from 30 minutes earlier, same day. It was like a complete slap to the face. This dude knows me, along with more than half of his staff. He knows I don't make complaints and that I've friendly with everyone. I was stunned. I could not believe that he would treat me like that. It saddens me to say that I won't be going there anymore, after all these years of it being my favorite fast food in Auburn. Something has changed there and it doesn't look like it's going to change back anytime soon with management like that. Super disappointing. Do better Taco Tree. read more

Taco tree is amazing and delicious. I stopped in yesterday and got a tostada + with no meat, cinnamon crisps, a bean burrito, and dr. Pepper. The employee running the drive through was courteous, efficient, and our order was perfect. Their soda game is on point, i love fizzy drinks. Food is top notch, best tostada and bean burrito! You get what you pay for. It's not authentic Mexican. More like typical fast food take out. All the same, no one I've known ever turns down Taco Tree. It's better than the huge Taco chain restaurant by far. The hot pepper string lights on fake palm trees just seems to work if you are in a laid back mood. Prices have gone up. This is not the most glamorous place or the best Mexican food I have ever had, but for some reason, Taco Tree just works. They have decent size portions, especially considering the affordable price, the drive thru makes it very accessible and now...let's talk menu options! One thing that sets this little "tree" apart from others is the ingredients and what you can get here. 3 things I have noticed that Taco Tree does that I don't see a lot of elsewhere is the following; 1. Green onions. YUM 2. Black olives. I don't always like these on my tacos but growing up my sister and I would put these on our tacos so it reminds me of my young adulthood. I mean, I was just a kid. No one told me olives don't go on tacos... My husband however, who grew up with authentic Mexican food prepared by his loving Mother a native of Chihuahua, Mexico, will tell me-no olives. Still gotta get em sometimes and I am happy to try different things! 3. Breakfast burrito with eggs and BEANS. My favorite and hard to find. I do please want to compliment Jennifer, short yellow hair. I stood away from the line as at time not knew what I want, also to do Six Feet Apart. Jennifer polite, she says to a customer he must wear a mask! He says he just wants to order, she again in polite way says he must wear a mask. He says harsh words to her, finally leaves. Staff is always fast and friendly. Their sauce packets are the best, and are best squirted directly into the mouth with each bite. I love the super nacho with extra shredded and sauce cheese, their combo burrito with one of their quesadillas (open your burrito and put the quesa inside) and their amazing iced tea to wash it all down. I had to get three different tacos to really identify what kind of flavor goes with my foodie pallet. It was chicken for the win but the ground beef was close! The chicken taco was super juicy. The beef taco needed some cheese on the outside like Jimboys. I feel like I was cheated without it. I also got the cinnamon chips to bring out the inner child in me and didn't regret it one bit. I have to say for a local spot the food is good, and I'd say the quality is WAY better than taco bell. I love that they have soft corn tortilla (for gluten peeps) I had the chicken taco, and tostada, with a cinnamon crisp.. I have to day the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Food is five star.. Customer service and owners are awful. Earlier in my experience today we wanted mild sauce, the Mexican lady threw 9 hot sauce and 1 mild sauce packets onto our food. We ate and on our way out of the building my girlfriend needed to wash her hands after eating with hot sauce before we tended to our child. So I loaded my son up and took two pictures of the mountains and one of the open sign in front of the building. I was greeted by the man in the pictures I've uploaded with a verbal assault asking if I was a 'f*cking fanboy', confused I asked 'what?' And he approached me abruptly in which I felt threatened for the safety of my child and I. I demanded he not come any further and he kept looming closer, not until I issued a direct warning that he would be tased did he stop approaching me. He quickly returned to his vehicle and returned with presumably a firearm. He demanded I leave, which was my intention after my girlfriend washed her hands. I recommend no one go there; I will be protesting in near future. read more
