This taco Johns has great customer service and a nice staff! I came here for lunch on a Sunday around 1pm with my wife, dad, mom, brother, and 3 nephews! We had a really large order and the food was pretty good! We ordered several items off the menu including taco burgers, chicken quesadilla, kids cheese quesadilla, beef soft taco, hard beef tacos, 4 orders of potato oles, and a cheese sauce on the side. We got an order of grilled chicken street tacos that we didn't even order for free. Everything was prepared fresh! The staff even gave my nephews free cinnamon sugar tortilla chips for free! I love this place. I go here all the time. The food is delicious and the tacos are kinda spicy but not too spicy. Very cheap. The location is sketchy and poorly designed. When they first started a reward program if you spend $5 you got a pun and after eight punches you got a free small combo well I had collected six of the small combos well somewhere along the line they supposedly came out with a email telling people that it's switching over to some kind of deal and I must have not got it and so they switched it over to some point system and now they've taken all my small combos away so now this Big Shot company that has bookoo money won't reimburse me my small Combos and they know that I've got them because it's on computer they're bunch of tight asses and now although they will give me it's just one. So Taco Johns is a favorite in my household. If there is one thing you need to get there it is the Ole's. They are like flat tater tots but they really are their own thing and really worth the try. I do agree with the other reviews however, the service here is very much hit or miss. Some of the workers are high or lazy and they take their time cooking up your food. Despite this the food comes out just as good so I cannot really complain as it's kinda worth the wait. I also cannot say much as I usually order a ton of food so making all of that cannot be put solely on them. In the end I recommend you try this place out even if it's to try an ole, you'll get addicted quick. read more

Food may be decent, but service is by far terrible! Usually no one in line and have to wait almost 20 minutes to get my order. The other day there was a car ahead of me and two behind me; had to wait almost 20 minutes for person in front of me to move. By the time I got to the window they had my order messed up and food not even prepared, had to bang on the window to get my money back and that took them another 10 minutes. Disappointed yet again. This is not the first time I've gone to this restaurant, and it's not the first time my order has either not been good, has been cold, or was in correct. On my last visit my taco salad's meat was cold and tasted as if it had been sitting out on the shelf. Today my quesadilla was made and apparently just thrown in the box to get rid of it. The restaurant was also dirty and the staff seemed indifferent about it - at least that's the impression they give considering there's always a spill on the floor. We are fans of Taco Johns and were happy to see that there is still one in Bloomington. The staff were friendly and the menu has expanded quite a bit. But it was very dirty- garbage overflowing, potato oles all over the floor, the door glass was filthy, and no one was eating in the restaurant at the time so being busy didn't seem like the reason. But the bummer is that they forgot to put the cinnamon sugar on my churros! We didn't discover it until too late since we took our food to go. Oh well, we wish them luck! read more

I wish their were more of these places instead of taco bells around. When i come here i usually get a couple soft shell beef tacos and some potato oles. The Potato oles have always been piping hot. The ingredients, including the meat, are a definite step above the mystery meat Taco bell offers, but stuff is a tad more pricey. Horrible. Speaker in drive thru is obviously suffering through a broken phase. Somehow we didn't get drinks with our order then they tried to charge an obscene amount for the drinks that we had to reorder at the window. Then confusion set in when we said we weren't going to pay that much for a drink. Then it was more confusion when they realized they were wrong in charging us so much. As for food it was not edible. My daughter's over cooked and over peppered chicken had to be thrown away with the tacos that were cold. The Chicken was not horrible but I couldn't finish it. Overall a 100% unpleasant experience. The food is really good!!! There is a popular taco chain out there that can't even begin to compete!! The tacos are so good!!! The potato O'lays are the absolute best!! The nachos are amazing. Actually, I don't think I have ever gotten anything bad. I have to mention this... make sure you check your items if you go to the drive through. I think it's difficult for the people to hear you through their speakers and sometimes they miss something... HOWEVER, they have always made it right immediately and are super apologetic and nice. read more

I have no idea why Taco Bell is more popular than Taco Johns. Taco Johns meat quality is way better than taco bell. There is way more flavor and way better quantity as well. Also you will not pay more for better quality and quantity, in fact you will pay less, Taco John's hard shell tacos are cheaper by 30 cents! Taco John's used to have the best deal for food anywhere in town when they had 2 hard tacos for $1. Sadly they discontinued that, but they are still way cheaper than most other options at 69 cents a taco! A great place to go when i feel like driving across town just to eat there for a delicious & money saving lunch. read more

Ok has Taco Bell's are closing in the Dupage county area bloomington has been lucky to have kept this ageing taco bell type American taco stand for a long time. I always try to hit this place and their cheap tacos. This is an American runned taco stand and pretty much a staple taco bell type menu. The meat and cheeze always seems to be of superior texture compared to the bell and how this place has not managed to be everywhere in other parts of the country I will never know. Maybe it is more located in rural areas but this is the only franchise I have ever seen. My favorite place when hitting my old college area. read more

They left off 2 Pepsi's then told us it would be $6.61 for 2 medium Pepsi's. The drive thru board stated the drinks were $1.99 so I'm not sure how they got $6.61. We drove away without drinks. The tacos were o.k., but the potato ole's were soooo salty they were not edible. I went through the drive-thru so didn't taste them until I got home. Restaurant mgmt. or someone should taste one every once in awhile so they aren't choking every one with salt.
