We have been trying to get to this restaurant for months...but it is always packed!!! We finally got in on a Friday and had a wonderful dinner. The inside decor is a decorated with bright and very interesting art. We loved the chops and salsa. My husband ordered fish tacos that he said he would get again and again. I will start by saving my rating is based completely on the food. If it was just Service and atmosphere. It would be five stars. The restaurant is immaculate, including the bathrooms. The server was extremely friendly and very professional. No complaints about either of those things. I travel all over the country for work so I guess once you've had Mexican food in southern Texas or southern Arizona you have to lower your expectations for Central Pennsylvania. I can't say there was anything "wrong " with the food, but it was just OK. With such great health reviews I guess I set my expectations too high. read more

Cozy small town ambiance with friendly, attentive service. Cute decor replete with sugar skulls. Locals love it here. The food was authentico. The menu provides vegan and vegetarian options. Taco Inc in DuBois is a hidden gem! I had the chicken soft tacos, and they were absolutely delicious--simple, but packed with flavor. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. You can really taste the freshness in everything they serve--the salsa and guacamole are both homemade and full of authentic flavor. Great food, great quality. The chimichanga is not a chimichanga. Their version of chimichanga is nothing more than a flour tortilla rolled enchilada style open on the ends and deep fried. Yuck! It's not a chimichanga at all. 100% disappointed. Saw on the menu Birriaqueso taco. Hmm found this intriguing and something to ponder over. I know it as quesabirria basically the same thing in short known as a Birria taco. I was thinking about going with that but didn't. I figured I'd start with something simple, being that it was my first time there. I asked for hot sauce and was brought a bowl of some kind of salsa. She said it was tomatillo. Now tomatillo is a green tomato that is wrapped in a natural husk. The husk is pulled away and discarded. In most cases the fruit is roasted then blended with green Anaheim, poblano, or green hatch chile's. The salsa is a little chunky as in not puréed. Known as salsa verde, which can be used in many different dishes. No! I was brought this soup cup of red sauce, charges a $1.69 for it that was god awful. Yuck. I had the guacamole which could have used a little more spice. I'd give that a 7. The decor does not feel Latin at all but more of a Mardi Gras decor from New Orleans but yet out of place. I give that a 3 out of ten. Chips and salsa placed on the table as per the norm of any Mexican restaurant. The salsa for the chips had little to no flavor. More like stewed tomatoes out of a can with a little red pepper seasoning. I give that a 3. Inside table and booths feel a bit run down, needs some TLC. The waitress was awesome! I'll give her a 9. I never touched the so-called tomatillo sauce. Could have taken that off the ticket. Place needs to work on authenticity. Tres amigos in Indiana is so much better but yet to far to drive for one dinner. Over all some of the food looked good. My buddy had the pineapple fajita. It looked delicious and he said it was amazing. Over all they need improvement. Does any one around here actually know what good Mexican food is? 38 years I have traveled this country, 4.7 million miles worth of travel and so many types of cuisine from all around the world. There are no good Mexican restaurants in this area. There is very little that is authentic. Think I've spent too much time in Yuma, Nogales, Tucson, Phoenix, Vegas, Los Angeles, Dallas, and so on. Sat for an hour. Received our drinks and app, but nothing else. 15 minutes after our waitress assured us it was "just a couple more minutes," we asked for our check for what we had actually received, paid, and left. Place was completely smoked out from the fajitas they were carrying out - not good when one of your party is on oxygen - yet no food for our table. No offer to comp, no apology, nothing. Just a bill for what we actually received. The manager's attitude was like this happens regularly. It's a shame, we have had good food there in the past. National Taco Day was advertised on FB. Server knew nothing about it and asked manager who did know about it. You were supposed to be able to get all you can eat tacos for $11.95. Soft, crunchy or double decker with chicken or beef is what was advertised. Only 1 person was allowed to order the double decker and most of the orders came out wrong. Took an hour to get 3 tacos and they were the worst tacos the group ever had. No flavor. Tasted like boiled chicken. Awful experience and won't be going back. read more

I was just passing through on my way to New England and found this restaurant. Mexican is my favorite cuisine so I try it wherever I go and I have to say this is one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have randomly been to. I love Birria and they had Quesabirria on the menu which was very similar to Birria tacos and they were excellent. The chips and salsa were also excellent. We were travelling and staying at a nearby hotel and it was close to 9pm so most restaurants were closing. We got take out burritos which were phenomenal. We ordered the Mexico City Burritos which came with chips and fresh salsa and were unlike any burrito I'd had before. They contained rice, chicken, steak, chorizo, some vegetables, beans (?), and pineapple chunks, and were covered in a light cheese and green sauce. I don't normally do cheese sauces on burritos but it was very light and tasty-- we will go out of our way to come back. read more

The food was very unique to find in Pennsylvania; chips, salsa, and queso was excellent to feed my appetite, almost enough to be a meal itself for me. Atmosphere seems true to the authenticity to the restaurant and does not seem faux. The Restaurant resembles association to Dia De Los Muertos and offers aesthetic pleasing decorum. I enjoyed the Burrito California and it was impeccably memorable for all of the Mexican cuisine I've enjoyed. The waiter was friendly and conversational for those who enjoy others presence. The waiter offered personal insight to the menu as well as help with choosing what to pick from. My family enjoyed the visit and it is a remarkable restaurant to be hidden in Du Bois. Stopped in for a late lunch with my boss while we were in town. I got the Molcajete, which was awesome. Strips of chicken and steak, and a skewer of shrimp over a bed of rice and chorizo, with melted queso fresco on top (plus a dinner plate that was half refried beans with melted queso fresco and half lettuce/cucumber/radishes/pickled onions, and 3 tortillas). I have NEVER posted a poor review until now, so that should say something about this place. We ordered take out from Dubois location, which is about a 25 minute drive away. When my husband arrived home with the food, it was completely wrong. It was to be vegetarian but it was full of meat so I could not eat it. I called the restaurant & the woman I spoke with was very nice, apologized & said to make up for the mistake they would give a giftcard. She stated this could not be sent in the mail & I would need to pick it up. She said to come in, go to register, give name and it would be there. So about a week later I went to restaurant to the register as instructed and the host had no idea what I was talking about. I explained the entire situation & he literally smirked at me and acted like he didn't believe me. He was so condescending that I told him I didn't appreciate his response or smirk. He clearly did not believe me & acted as if it was some scam to get a "free" gift card. Fast forward approximately 2 weeks. I gave my son the gift card because I am NEVER going back there, and he ate in the Dubois restaurant. When he went to pay with the gift card it DIDN'T WORK. I was given a gift card with a balance of ZERO from the man with the smirk. So not only did we drive a total of one hour to get takeout that was wrong, I was treated as if it were my mistake, treated poorly and given a blank gift card from a very condescending host. We will NEVER go back and I will tell everyone about this experience. read more
