Hands down the best place in the area to get Mexican food. Everything I've tried from their menu has been amazing! Everyone is super friendly, and the service is great, and the place has a super clean modern look to it. Can't recommend this place enough! So happy we have one in Dubois now, it's our families favorite!

I live near the ocean and can buy fresh off the boat seafood, so why am I at a Red Lobster? Well,…read moremany small businesses in this area are closed on Sunday and so we were left with chain restaurants options. This Red Lobster has a private parking lot with dedicated spots for pick-up. A hostess will seat you. Most of the seating are booths with nice high backs which make for a cozy little snug. There are lots of big window walls letting in the light. Even on this dreary, rainy day. Our waiter, Alec, was excellent. Red Lobster has a full bar and include some adult beverage suggestion in the menu. They also have iced tea, lemonade, sodas, coffee and hot tea. The menu, not surprisingly includes lots of seafood options, but they also have chicken tenders, hamburger and steaks. Soups are clam chowder or lobster bisque. Entree sized salads come with the option of adding seafood or grilled chicken. And of course, they drop a basket of warm cheese biscuits at the table soon after you arrive. I opted for a hot tea on a cold rainy day while my SO chose a Lagunitas. The tea came with a cup of hot water, plus a small pot of hot water to brew a second cup. Unfortunately the water was not boiling, so the tea didn't steep well, but today, that's OK. I really wanted a warm drink to wrap my cold hands around and that's what I got. Oddly enough, we both ordered steak: filet mignon and sirloin. Our sides included fresh brocolli, Ceasar salad and a baked potato with sour cream and bacon. The potato was nice and fluffy, the bacon plentiful. Ceasar salads were fresh, the brocolli cooked very soft: I like more bite, but I know plenty of people who would have thought this was perfectly cooked. Our steaks were cooked as ordered and had a nice 'cooked on the grill' taste. Alec kept a very good eye on us, checking in often, refilling my water, making sure our steaks were cooked correctly, etc. during a very busy Sunday lunch rush. When the check arrived he let us know he would take a cash payment but cards were paid through the monitor on the table and if we needed help with that just let him know. We are familiar with this process, added a tip and selected the 'email receipt' option. This restaurant was clean, well staffed and the food good quality. The restrooms, located near the entrance, were very clean and well stocked. We'd definitely visit this location again.

It's next door to the hotel and when we went it wasn't so busy that we were ignored but they staff were certainly being kept on their toes (Father's Day weekend, graduations, hotel guests...). They have both indoor seating (complete with a bar if you'd like to sit there) and a really nice looking patio area. The food was fantastic. Our server was great too; she was really friendly and helpful with recommendations. I ordered the reuben sandwich, which was deeeelicious. The salmon was apparently wonderful too, from what my partner said. And I ordered the macaroni and cheese from the kids menu but it was huge. My baby loved it and since it was so huge there was too much for her, so I had the rest at a later time. They had a really good strawberry lemonade, of which we (my daughter and I, because of course she had to have some) drank several glasses. Our server even brought me a to-go cup of it because she said it looked like we were slowing down and may be near finishing. I didn't ask her to bring me a cup of it to go, and wouldn't have thought to ask, so I was very happy she brought it for the rest of our ride to Cleveland. But perhaps my favorite part of the meal were the appetizers. We ordered some macaroni and jalapeño bites which were a hit as far as myself and the little one were concerned, with not too much heat that she could enjoy them. The restaurant has a Brussels sprouts appetizer, but they do it as an "of the week" special. The week we were here it was inspired by elote, so it had some corn and cheese and stuff on it and they were so good. I love Brussels sprouts, and will happily try them prepared in a new way. As of June 2026, I think they are short staffed. Our food took a little longer than usual but that was ok; it gave us a chance to chat and relax. Just be patient if you visit in the near future since they are down an employee or two! But even with that, it was a pleasant evening, the staff were fantastic and helpful, and the food totally hit the spot.

My wife, who's Italian, wants to take this +1 hour trip several times a year just to come here because it reminds her of the various "Mom & Pop" restaurants of her hometown in northeast PA. It sits in downtown DuBois with plenty of parking options nearby. The restaurant is good sized but it also does a lot of business so plan ahead on the weekends. The inside has a cozy/hometown feel with pictures of their family all over the walls. I don't think much has changed to the interior in those 20 years and that's okay by me. For this outing we opted for the antipasta salad, Italian wedding soup, veal parm and stuffed manicotti. Their dishes are more traditional italian (i.e. not olive garden) and they offer lunch, half, or full-sized portions. Their gravy has a good balance between sweet and savory. They also make a great fresh baked loaf of bread and they're happy to bring several to the table throughout the course. It was a special occasion so we closed out the night with their famous strawberry cheesecake. Service was excellent and the bill, with several drinks, was around $60 for 2. This is not a chain; it has character, it's not polished but it's a true gem of spot in rural PA. I'm glad places like this still exist!

But enough was promising that I'd return if passing through, I'd just order differently.

I googled this. I should have taken a picture as well. 7 How to Kill, Cook, and Shell a Lobster | The Food Lab A black, soft, mushy lobster usually means it's not fresh, potentially dead before cooking, overcooked, or diseased (Epizootic Shell Disease), especially if it has a foul smell; if it's just a new molt with a thin shell, it's normal but watery, but the mushiness and black color point to spoilage or illness, so it's best to discard it to avoid food poisoning, as the meat breaks down quickly after death. Reasons for Mushy Meat & Black Color Death Before Cooking: If a lobster dies in the tank, its stomach releases enzymes that rapidly break down the meat, causing it to become mushy and discolored. Spoilage: A dead lobster can start to spoil within an hour, leading to that texture and off-color. Epizootic Shell Disease (ESD): A bacterial/fungal infection that makes shells soft and black, often fatal to the lobster. Improper Handling/Thawing: Rapid thawing in hot water or keeping it too long after purchase can cause issues. Undercooked Roe: Black, jelly-like spots inside can be undercooked roe (eggs), which should be red, requiring more cooking or discarding if questionable. This video shows how to identify a lobster that has recently molted:
