I don't speak Spanish (as much as I wish I did) but that can't stop me from getting great food. The staff taking my order didn't speak English well, so I attempted to not butcher the menu names when ordering--they have English descriptions too (and there's always Google Translate if you need it). We got our order through and the food was exactly as I ordered but better than my expectations. Pupusas generally take a longer to make, but they're so worth the wait. Came here after rave reviews from a local at a bar and was not disappointed at all. The food was incredible, good spice, complex flavor, a solid meal. The staff's English are not the best but where there's a will, there's a way! You can certainly get your meaning across and it is well worth it. We ended up ordering a carnitas dish, a burrito, and something that I thought was queso. Ended up not being queso as I was thinking, but actually a fried, cheese, pancake looking food that was killer! Staff was all smiles and friendliness. I'm so happy this little hole in the wall is open during this chaos. I love their cheap, delicious and authentic food. I came in for a takeout order and they were incredibly friendly while safely practicing social distancing. I definitely recommend this place over franchises like chipotle and would recommend people who live in the area to support this small business. Fortunately, it's not at all a sacrifice in this case, it's clearly a win-win situation to go here for all the reasons mentioned above ... The tamales are extremely good!* The papusas a bit dry and they didn't give me the slaw that usually comes with a papusa or even the tomato sauce I was a bit disappointed. The tacos very authentic and a generous amount for the price. The prices here are so good! As for the cleanliness factor... I've got to give them a lower score based on this. They weren't busy with customers yet the tables and floors were not cleaned. All of The condiments on the tables have not been cleaned..runny drippy bottles encrusted with The former customers use...yuck! The cooking area is completely visable which I personally like as it gives you the chance to see what's going on and how it's kept. They could DEFINATLY give this area a once (or twice) over with some hot water and bleach. They do seem to keep the working station clean enough but things like the fridge and equipment really need attention. Also the ceiling tiles around the vents are blackened with dust and sot. The man working the counter was very very nice. For a tamale craving in a take out type of atmosphere for super short money...this place will suffice. read more

This is your typical hole in the wall outlet with limited seating but then the food and the price point make you go back and me and my brother in law did just that!! We were impressed with the fare that we had first time so much so that we went there for lunch today as well. We ordered their plate, we tried the beef first time and took the Salmon today and supplemented with Pupusa (took mixed both times) and a Chicken Taco and Chicken Tamale first time. The plate is definitely worth it, good food and sufficient quantity. The lady at the counter doesn't understand English well, be ready for some work around for that. Wait time is hardly anything and we could find a table even though there isn't much space available there. Chicken tacos - must get! They might come out looking small but these tacos are fully stuffed. The chicken was nicely seasoned and tender. I thought it was the best between steak and pork. I'd ask for extra salsa and queso fesco! Yummm that stuff is the secret ingredient. The papusa was good but we had the mixed meat one and there was minimal meat. You can't even taste it to be honest. We ordered for take out but honestly it's best to probably eat there so everything is still hot. We had a side of sweet plantains and rice with beans too, all very good but you def don't need rice and beans to go with the tacos. They're pretty filling on their own. Ah the local ubiquitous pupusa. It's a delightful pillow to rest your teeth into, savoring the cheesiness and corn masa one bite at a time. Find them here at Taco El Paso and pay a small price of $1.99 to satiate your craving. Taco El Paso is your epitome of a whole-in-the-wall located in Everett. The bright red sign makes it easy to find and a simple menu board displays the Mexican and El Salvadoran options. Everything is reasonably priced and packed full of flavor. The small restaurant has a few tables and chairs if you want to dine in. You can order at the counter and take a seat while you wait. The whole kitchen is visible and seemed a bit unorganized when we came. They were making huge containers of rice (maybe catering?) but did not delay on preparing our order. I ordered one cheese pupusa, one chicken taco, and chips with guacamole. My husband ordered the beef burrito. Everything totaled to around $13. A steal! We took our food home to enjoy with a movie. The pupusa was easily the best item! My taco was good and served with two corn tortillas, lettuce, cheese, salsa, and chunks of chicken. The chips and guacamole were tasty too. My husband did not rave about the burrito and said Montecristo's is better. I grabbed a to go menu on my way out which I later read they have free delivery!! El Paso has the deceiving name and look of a Tex-Mex joint, but it's actually El Salvadoran. That meant I asked a lot of questions when I first visited. Like what's a pupusa? Is it as tasty as it is fun to say? The answer: Yes. Have it with loroco, which I was told is a plant from El Salvador. It comes with a generous portion of a vinegary cole slaw. I bet you didn't know you were getting a meal for under $2. I know I didn't! In fact, you can pretty much sample everything on the menu and not break a $10. Or you could get the small chicken burrito, (which isn't small at all!) served with chips and salsa for a whooping $5. It's full of rice, guacamole, beans, tomatoes and chicken and will please your tummy. But if that's not satisfying enough, order the large for only a $1 more. They also have regional sodas and juices. I had this juice from an El Salvadoran fruit, but I can't remember the name. It's flavor is a cross between a pineapple and a mango. read more

We have lived in Boston for roughly a year now, and trying to find an awesome Mexican restaurant hasn't been easy! It's always hard when you try something new because you don't know how they serve things and make things, and although I believe this place definitely has potential, I can only give 3 stars for my first experience! I ordered chicken enchiladas and my boyfriend ordered a burrito... I think both could have been great, but we weren't aware of all that comes in those items and weren't given options of what we want in them. For example, my enchiladas had refried beans in them, and I hate beans. I wish the menu would be more informative of what "automatically" comes in their items so I would have known to order without beans! The guy who served us was friendly and pleasant to work with, and I think for the "regulars," it's a great spot. I also wasnt super impressed with the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen and food prep areas (which you can see from the cash register). It was messy and not super well-kept, which isn't what you want to see in a food prep area. The food here is very homey, nothing pretentious. just really legit grub. the pupusas are what brings me back. they're these corn meal pancakes stuffed with cheese and an assortment of meats if you choose. i prefer straight up cheese cause sometimes, all i need in life is melty ooey gooey cheese. their fresh salsa is so good though. perfect to go with the pupusas to cut the oily-ness. read more

Got to this gem of a place yesterday looking for a good big lunch, the guy behind the counter was very nice and got me a big steak spicy burrito. The prices are very good and you get the best food around. The burrito arrived with nachos and sauce, which were homemade and great, and the burrito was just plain amazing, best burrito I have ever had. I decided immediately that this place is going on my - let's get back here again - list. And as I said to myself, I came back here today, and got the chicken burrito this time, which was also amazing! Overall, great prices, great staff, great vibe, and amazing food! This place was fantastic. We were in the area to run a few errands, one of which included a stop a the UPS a couple doors down from El Paso. What a lucky addition to our Saturday afternoon! I got a beef tongue and chicken taco, and a pupusa - all three were delicious, but the beef toungue taco really stood out. Also, unlike many taco joints, El Paso lets you add all sorts of toppings to the tacos - and it's crazy cheap. My wife got a couple vegetarian tacos and a pupusa - she was very happily surprised that the veggie pupusa included a real assortment (hers had zucchini and cauliflower, among others). Both pupusa's were great, really cheesy. As a bonus, the woman behind the counter was incredibly friendly. The next time we need to go to Costco, Bed Bath and Beyond, or Target we'll 100% be going back to El Paso. read more

I got 3 tacos, 1 pupusa , and some passionfruit juice for $6.50. Hell yes. I got all veggie tacos. They were pretty awesome, they had zucchini and broccoli and mushrooms in them and all kinds of good stuff. Most veggie tacos are pretty bland, but these were great. I asked for hot sauce, and it was actually hot (a little too hot actually). I got the Cheese & Loroco pupusa, I asked what loroco was and they told me it was like a green pepper. My wife and I still drive across town from Brookline to come here. It's Salvadoran, but basically stumbled onto this place through Yelp. The pork tacos are basically from fried porkbelly....slightly crispy, very flavorful. Tacos are fully loaded and filling, and only $2. If I was poor I could have 2 tacos and have a great meal....as it is I'l get 3-4. The tacos are great, the quesedillas/burritos are good too..portions are huge and the latter two come with chips/salsa. And they often have guava juice, it's very tasty. In fact, writing this review makes me miss this place. I recommend it to anyone and honestly attempt to bring people here as often as I can because I think it's worth the 25-30 minute drive. read more

Found this place while going to the UPS store next door. Ordered the beef special plate and a pork quesadilla. The beef was so tender and I couldn't believe I only paid $10 for the beef dish (with beans, rice and salad) and it is a big portion. The fresh vegetables were so fresh that most of them were chopped after I ordered my food. There were 2 ladies who take care the customers and handle all the cooking, they were extremely friendly and even offered me sample fruit juices! This place is amazing! I ordered one of each taco they had on the menu which was out of this world! I ordered a tamale and I could only finish half of it before I was begging myself to stop. My friend ordered a steak burrito and he was chowing the thing down. The service was pretty good even after I asked a lot of questions about the items on the menu. The "lengua" or beef tongue tastes just as good as how I would try to say it. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a regular. read more

YELPERS & I AGREE - EL PASO DESERVES 4-5 STARS. Very good to excellent food at modest prices. It's more of a Take-Out place than a sit-down restaurant, although it does have several tables and chairs. The Chicken Tamales are the tastiest and best I've ever eaten, either here in the states or in Mexico, and the Steak Tacos with their savory taste and crispy fried shells are wonderfully crunchy and delicious, too. This was my first time visiting El Paso, and I'll certainly return. Go visit them for Take-Out or a quick bite, I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed. read more
