Was very impressed by my first visit. I picked a Baja favorite burrito that day, customized to my choices. It was too good. Loved the flavor and delicious. I was wondering how this place got all the negative reviews! I found the answer on my next visit. This place lacks consistency. I ordered same exact burrito along with the classic burrito bowl. The Baja burrito which I loved last time - I hated it this time. lacked everything I enjoyed about it this time. The burrito bowl was half decent. Their service is good. It's fast, quite engaging with the customers. Liked that. Is this economical comparing to the other Mexican options? Yes. But a huge compromise on the quality. Went here for lunch and got the daily special which was the two fish tacos. There was not any fish already made so I had to wait a few minutes for them to heat up some more. If you have never had fish tacos from Taco Del Mar, you know the fish is like a fried fish filet / fish stick. Not the best quality but not bad either. Do not come to this chain expecting something more. I got a side of rice with my order which was freshly made. Sometimes you can come here and the rice be dried out and you can tell it is not fresh, but not today! The rice does not have a lot of flavor but if you want rice, it is what it is. The fish tacos come with a white sauce, pico de gallo, cabbage and/or lettuce. It is not bad and hits the spot if you already know what to expect. The staff is always very friendly here. The shop is always clean and well put together. I would recommend coming here if you are in the area, want quick service and a quick meal. read more

Went here today for lunch because it's right next to my house and I haven't been before: spent $26 and it all went in the trash. The fish on the fish taco was cold and not cooked, also tiny. Store is clean - my first visit - simple short menu (love that) I chose to go with the flagship item - fish tacos (in case you didn't know what 'del Mar' means - 'of the sea') 2 fish tacos, with doubled corn tortillas, you can choose among many items (kinda like a subway) sauces, condiments they gently wrapped up in tin foil Adding combo beans/rice/drink was only $2.50 extra, but I passed on it (I don't need a fountain drink, if they just offered beans/rice for say, $2 I woulda gone for it) yummy yummy yummy, and I was out the door for $5. Today I ordered 2 beef burritos. I could not taste the seasoning in the Mexican rice. The person making my burrito decided to dump a massive pile of rice in, which left my burrito tasting like nothing except rice, without proportioning the rest of the burrito ingredients, and that made me very sad. The ground beef taste ok, the refried beans taste pretty good, but the amount of flavorless rice just blocked all the good parts of the burrito. Comparing this to chipotle, which had so many more varied delicious aspects to a burrito, like sweet corn and fajita vegetables, and coming in at around the same price with greater value, I will never come back here. The ingredients at chipotle also were fresher, and the flour tortilla wrapping at chipotle taste better. read more

I drive a lot for work, area Taco del Mar is a weekly lunch stop for me. this one is at the bottom of the list. portions are too small; they charge for things other TdMs don't, and the few times I have visited the eating space has been kind of grimey. I'd suggest getting your taco fix elsewhere. read more

Absolutely the worst excuse for Mexican food I have ever tasted. The ground beef mixture in the Tacos was so over-salted I spit it out on the first bite; it was inedible. The Beans and rice that came with it were just the opposite; bland, no seasoning, and boring. I threw it all in the trash. How does this chain stay in business? What a waste of money. read more

The food is alright to fulfill a quick taco craving, the staff is friendly but doesn't pay attention, restaurant is clean, and the prices are halfway decent. The last time I visited this location, my friend and I walked in toward the counter and waited at least 5 minutes before we were noticed. Once we were noticed and started receiving help, the lady helping us got our orders incorrect not once, but twice. So she had to stop halfway through both times and remake everything from the start. We weren't in a huge hurry so it wasn't the end of the world, just kind of irritating. Hopefully the next time I visit the customer service experience will be better so I can adjust my review and rate this location more stars. But until then I can honestly only give it 3... First time to go to TDM and it was an awesome experience. The lovely lady serving me was great!! She made my order wonderfully and put some items on the side not to make the tacos too soft. She also told me that they could deliver to my job location in Totem Lake and my employer often orders us all lunches so we'll definitely order from TDM this month. Wish I took her name. She was working there today and was probably in her 30-40s. Great employee!!! read more

Well this location is poor at best. Over the last ten years I come rarely. Each time I do I remember why. The employees are poorly trained. Today there was ample dust on the cieling and wall where the food is made up for us. The co2 was out on the soda. I let them know and didn't see a get it fixed. Just thanks for letting us know. No reimbursement for the money spent for a soda. No let me check that and see what is going on. No I'll check that in a minute. And no try it now. Oh instead they sold more soda. Ordered a burrito, was asked if I wanted sour creme and guacamole. I said yes, little did I know they charge extra, but he didn't say anything on purpose. I asked why, he said it's on the menu, however I didn't ask for it and assumed it was included like Qdoba. He didn't offer to take the extra charge off, instead he wanted to remake an entire burrito, probably because he knew I didn't want to wait. Food is good most of the time, I work across the street and it's one of our only options in walking distance so I often pop in here if I didn't grab a lunch for work that day. Employees are kind and efficient but it seems like they're pretty laid back about their scheduled opening time. I work early so my lunch falls before they open so I have to take a late lunch as is to get food there, today I took my lunch at 11am and walked over there to get my food and the doors were locked and I didn't see anyone inside. If you're understaffed and can't get someone to open that's fine, things happen, but at least put a note or something on the door, and if someone is working and they're just goofing off in the back where no one can see them then there needs to be some accountability for your opening managers. Again I do like the food and for the most part I have pleasant experiences with the employees but I'm not going to lie I'm pretty ticked off I had to use my lunch break to walk over there and return with no food or explanation as to why they weren't open. read more

Tried this place tonight. First time at a taco del Mar since I moved up here from LA a couple years ago. I had a steak burrito. Cost around $8.50. It was pretty large, however it was 50% generic Mexican rice. In all honesty it was really bland and boring. I fell asleep once while eating it. Not from food coma either. It's like an edible version of your grand pa's childhood stories. After coming to, I was slightly shocked that my dog didn't as least try to play with it akin to a used tennis ball. But all jokes aside, I don't actually have a dog. Go here if you want super bland and over priced food. read more

This place deserves every single star plus some. As soon as you walked in the owner greeted you with a warm welcome. Establishment is clean and tidy. Food is fresh and extremely reasonably priced. Finally a decent Mexican restaurant where they have real salsa and it's not made from tomato paste. I will be a returning customer. read more

The menu reads, "Alaska White Fish - Our Specialty". It is pollock so if you're cool with fish sticks and AM/PM fish sandwiches you should be OK. I am not. Everything else is pretty good with a good selection and daily specials. read more
