When sat we waited 5 min or so to be acknowledged by any sever I counted 6. When I asked about taco specials seeing how it was taco Tuesday my server rolled her eyes listed chicken carne or shrimp...no prices just a list of tacos available. We ordered our food, after about 10 minutes later I had to approach all the servers behind the bar giving each other back rubs to ask them for chips and salsa since food was taking longer than normal and my kids were getting wild. The manager brought us our food just sat it down and left. Our server came shortly after and I was able to get an extra plate I needed but after that no checkup on us the food or our empty soda cups. Working in the same service and knowing the 6 servers working only had 14 tables all together in the restaurant and couldn't even express the 10-4 rule was disappointing. Oh and here's the "fresh chips" crumbs we waited for them to "freshly make." The pasta was amazing if you're looking for friendly fast good service this is NOT the place.

This was a first date night me and my husband have had in a long time and we drove 30 minutes to come here and we're not disappointed from the food to the atmosphere to everything. It was just an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back. Must tries are the enchiladas. The enchilada sauce was so good. I can't even stop thinking about it. This place is definitely worth the drive and they must try.

First off, absolutely love the staff, but El Charro has decided to defy the odds of angering some of their most loyal customers. Usually receive 2 different salsas as one is very hot...nope...$2 Margarita I always get a Virgin...maybe, she'll check....only been 2 years of getting them. Then the upsell maneuvers both menu mistakes (there are consumer protection laws) and extra for additions. A simple Roberto Burger priced at $14.75 became $20.75 as the addition of French Fries went up to $6 (menu shows $4). The fries were not even all the way fried. The Chimichanga not really crisped became a bland tortilla filled with not even salt seasoned beef. What's happening? I did show the server who was apologetic but didn't respond to my comment of the menu prices need to reflect the charges...there are Consumer Protection Laws. She did say she's noticed the price increases and would tell the owner. I never thought I would be that person I've previously overheard talking with the manager about exactly this same thing. I am a defender of those servers that get bashed by terrible patrons with attitudes and that I am not as I have previously defended a couple of those servers in the past as totally out of their control. I have been in the business for over 20 years and refuse to believe that this great place is falling apart.

This innovative dish, for a Mexican place, was based with a yellow rice mixed with the tender chicken, mixed (basic) vegetables, and freshly-cooked green peppers, broccoli, onions and mushrooms. For style and taste, fresh tomatoes and avocado slices were on the edges of the plate. The sauce was mildly salty with a light soy and green chili taste - held together with thick gooey Monterrey cheese. I enjoyed this the richness of this dish. My eating partner had the Polle Mole (pun). This was chicken breast in a dark mole sauce, with the earthiness of chocolate and some sweetness to bring out the flavor. Unexpectedly good eating. Yay!

(Please look at my photo of the sad leftovers). We had written down all of the suggestions of things to do in Sedona and Elote Cafe was at the top of our list of things to do. Apparently getting a reservation at this place is super difficult to get, so we decided to order takeout. Elote dip, pork cheeks, green tamale, carne asada, pork belly tacos and corn cake for dessert. The elote dip was enjoyable especially when eaten with chips, the green tamale was better off used as a trampoline at a kids party (it was spongy, flavorless and possibly good to scrub your dishes), the carne asada was dead like the cow it came from and flavorless, the pork belly tacos were barely edible because of the overwhelming sour taste of lemon, and last but least was the corn cake, it was dry and about as exciting as a retirement home party. We wasted our money thinking that a place with a waiting list to get on would be an experience just like everything else we experienced in Sedona but instead Elote Cafe is a bad tourist trap that has as much charm and taste as Del Taco. Save your money and look elsewhere for some great Mexican inspired food even if it means you need to travel to Tucson.
