I wanted Mexican, have been at Taco Bell too often, so figured I would give this place a try. I ordered a burrito and a coke. The burrito was excellent. The dining area was clean and the staff was very nice. The tortilla was definitely better than Taco Bell and the Beas and cheese tasted very fresh. Good stop. Got a basic lunch for just under $5. I usually look forward to coming to Taco Casa when I'm in town, but I can assure you the way my meal was so poorly assembled There were more beans on the outside of my tortilla then there were inside, sloppy presentation. When I asked for a refund and my answer was given, I was told I'm the only one that complained. I don't care about everybody else I did not like it . I mean....it's Taco Casa (a.ka. Taco Bell's cousin and Del Taco's sister). This, like most fast food places of its type are quick and you get what you pay for. This last time, I got a Taco Lite after leaving another restaurant because Thing Two complained about still being hungry. How's that possible that someone can be so hungry without a job? Moving forward, I also ordered the Taco Casa hotsauce bottle to-go along with a large beverage. For folks who haven't had the salsa, it's very similar to Taco Bell. The Taco lite while it does have a lighter shell than the standard deep fried hard Taco shell, the insides of the taco is no higher caliber than fast food competitors of its kind. If you like Taco Bell or Del Taco or even the tacos from Dairy Queen, I'm sure you will be pleased with the ones offered here. read more

I Taco Casa. It's the absolute BEST fast food Mexican place in every respect but one: locations. It's not as ubiquitous as the Bell, by the food is FRESHER, isn't loaded with fillers and garbage, and the portions are WAY more generous. Took my little brother there and he was so used to the skimpy tacos and burritos from the bell that he couldn't eat everything he ordered. I wanted him. Get a simple beef taco with no lettuce at Bell, and you know what you'll get? A shell that's 85% empty, MIGHT be crispy (stale half the time), that's got a few teaspoons of beef in the bottom and a couple stingy shreds of cheese. Order the same thing at TC and you'll get a fresh, crispy shell STUFFED TO THE BRIM with beef and cheese. The staff is always polite and helpful, and the restaurant is always clean as a whistle! I'll be back despite the 40 min drive! read more

Needed a small noche for din din and saw this place off the highway. We ordered a Super Taco and a Super Burrito. The super taco was fresh, hot & crunchy but the meat seasoning was a little unusual for me so not really sure how to rate this. Might just be the norm for this area and I'm not used to it but wasn't a fan. The super burrito was super for sure! I LOVED the fact the put black olives in their burrito! It is just how I remember growing up and even my husband reminded me that Taco Bell used to (he worked their in the 80s lol!). The meat and bean mix had the same meat as the taco so again, threw me a little bit. However, the beans were decent but I will say that the tortilla was SO SOFT and fresh I could have just eaten that rolled up with sour cream beans, black olives and cheese!! would stop again if ever passed one by in our journeys and switch out the meat choice for just beans. I was going to give this a 5 until. We finished making our order in the drive thru, that included asking for an additional 4 hot sauces, and the woman thru the speaker verified. The short woman, you know the one that is not happy in her job. So I went inside to get my hot sauces. The young man who was very nice and finally realized what I was asking for went to short woman at the drive thru window. You know the one who is unhappy at her job. Omg. He asked to see my receipt. I walked out without my hot sauce. Had to get back on the road. So upset I could not eat. I will not be retuning to taco casa on my way back to San Antonio. BTW. I am always on the hunt for delicious Mexican food...even if it is a fast food establishment because I'm growing old of Taco Bell and there is no Del Taco in Texas (WHY?????????). There is a Taco Casa under construction in Cypress and my family has been so curious to try it but it is a slow moving project and we are tired of waiting on the development of the Cypress location. As a result, on a trip to San Antonio, we stopped to try the Taco Casa in Kerrville. The cons: --I think the menu is way too limited. --There are no extras either...no fresh, chunky salsa or guacamole here. --The chilada...nooooo....not good enough...saucy, sloppy mess of beef and beans smothered in more sauce and then even more sauce...just a mess and lacking the right textures and flavors. The pros: --The taco lite is the best and most delicious item in my opinion... generously stuffed with seasoned beef, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, and the most scrumptious fried flour taco shell...lite, crunchy and perfect! --The bean burrito is good and has lots of cheese...love that! --On the day we visited...they were offering HUGE 45 cent Dr. Pepper drinks...the mix was delicious and flavorful and the price was amazing. --This food is not very expensive. --If you eat inside, the staff will bus and clean your table...most other fast food establishments do not do this. Overall, I would go back for the taco lite, the bean burrito, and the Dr. Pepper. read more

What can I say ....I love Taco Casa. It's my go to for a quick bite. It's always fast friendly service at a great price. I've been going there (Sidney-Baker Location) for 10 years or so. Usually we buy the crunchy tacos. About a month ago we ordered our usual 6 tacos. They were very soggy and greasy and I could only eat 2 rather than the 3 that I normally eat. We quit going there, but yesterday we had a coupon for taco salad so we thought we would try them again. Big mistake, the meat tasted weird like they had cut it with refried beans or something. I did eat it all, but had severe diarrhea this morning. Never again. I don't know if they started using cheaper ingredients to try and keep the price down, or they have different management that doesn't know what they are doing. We will never eat there again. We were looking for some grub around 10pm, which was after most places had closed. I thought this was surprising considering that it was Saturday night, but I'm visiting so maybe this is just how it is in Kerrville. Anyways, we ended up here pretty late and considering our options it was okay. Pretty much a glorified Taco Bell, they have limited options but the food is decent. I got a burrito without beans and the staff had no problem omitting them from my order. My boyfriend got a burrito and soft taco and they were both decent. I will never eat Taco Bell again. This local eatery is 100% better than Taco Bell and even caters to those who have peanut allergies (beans and peanuts are in the same family). With all but two items under $5, it is one of the cheapest places on the block. It usually has almost no wait time at about 1900 CST. Their menu features a "Super" menu which comes with loaded items (Taco Bell's loaded items) that come all the way and some more. They then have another section of their menu which I have nicknamed their "value menu." This value section has all items that are "default" with the regular nachos being the most expensive at $3.29. The best item on the value menu, in my opinion, is the Chili burger. It is a hamburger but without the burger. It had taco sauce, ground beef, and lettuce for $1.60. You can add cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, and more for only $0.39, which is a steal compared to most fast food restaurants which charge $0.75-$1.00 for cheese, sour cream, etc. I would highly recommend this restaurant over Taco Bell because it is highly cheaper and much faster too. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, just slide in and ask for today's specials. It is worth your money. read more

We are new in the area and was told by a few friends to try taco casa and it was love at first taste. It was delicious. I went to the counter and asked the manager about the fold they serve. If it was pre packaged but to my surprise it is all fresh food. Everything is like when you buy beans and meat at the grocery store.
