It's been over 26yrs since I had taco cabana and I recently returned back to Texas and really wanted to try them out again. They were very good two decades back, I felt the location was clean, but the flavor of the carne asada's I had did not "hit" or meet my expectations.. A little disappointed, the wife did say the enchiladas were a 4 out of 5, but the rice and beans were not at the same level. Maybe it was an off day, but I'd be willing to try something else off the menu to offset what happen today for a better experience. Service was descent with no issues there. I ordered a chicken fajita bowl. It was awful. The tortilla was as stale as could be. You could tell it was old, sitting somewhere for days waiting to be used. It might as awful! Service is horrible. You could possibly wait in the drive-through for 30 minutes with only two cars in front of you and no customers in the restaurant. The quality of the food has gone way downhill. They encourage you to use their app in order to earn points. However, their app does not work. You can rack up as many points as you want but if you don't confirm with your email, you can't use them. When Trying to confirm email, they never send the email for you to confirm despite how many times you request. We tried dining in this evening but were told by the woman working that she couldn't serve us. Apparently she had a "big mess" which seemed to mean no one working in the dining room and she could only handle the drive-thru. I realize we're still suffering from a weird employment market, but maybe closing the store altogether is the better option. Or perhaps converting to drive-thru only. Or maybe locking the doors and putting up a sign. It's so disappointing to see our favorite brands deteriorating. On my first and last visit to this location I could not get waited on. I entered the empty restaurant and stood at the counter for a couple of minutes then asked the kitchen staff if it was possible to order in person or whether this was only a place to pick up online orders. 11/10/19. Service has been much quicker of late at this location. Still high food quality and clean location. My wife called ahead today for her breakfast tacos and things were hot and ready on arrival. Unfortunately probably one of the slower taco cabanas in town. Never less than a 5-10 minute wait here. Today well over 10 minutes for simple order of breakfast tacos. On a positive food is always hot is always accurate and they do a great job of keeping the salsa bar fresh and full. Have to downgrade them to 2 stars after tWaited 25 minutes this morning for an order of 12 breakfast tacos. Tacos are still great and I will keep coming back as my wife loves their breakfast tacos but the wait time is just ridiculous Feb 3. Really fast service today. Bump them up one star. Update: 11-25-2019 I was charged (correctly) $3.99 for the combo. This experience was a bit different. We came later than lunch rush and ordered behind two other couples. Our order was a bean and cheese combo and 4 more bean and cheese tacos. It took 20 minutes to get our food. No one was getting their food but the drive through. I can say I was surprised at the food being hot when delivered. Tacos were hot, queso was hot and the tortilla was hot. I can forgive this visit. Also want to mention the friendly staff. They might be short handed today , but they are still nice and friendly when delivering the food. Update: charged $5.29 again 11-16-20 This place is located at Ralph fair and I-10. It's hard to get into during rush hour and when the freeway is closed. If you manage to take the turn around, haul butt to the right lane, and you are at TCs. This location is always freezing cold. I like cold AC but this location may require a jacket during the summer. The reason for the 2 star is due to being charged & rung up incorrectly multiple visits. I would say out of 10 visits, 80% of the time they select the wrong combo. TCs new electronic menus display the prices for most. One of the go-to favorites is the bean and cheese combo. The screen shows $3.99 for two tacos, a drink, and chips/queso. It's a wonderful deal until you are paying for it and don't realize they over charged you. I purposely come with cash now so I'm forced to pay attention. They have been charging $5.29 plus tax for it. Most employees act like they don't know what I'm talking about when I say that the price is incorrect . I point to the board and say it's $3.99. Some of the employees quickly change it once i say that's wrong. So they know they entered it wrong and I saw it. Now, are they told to do that or not? That is the question . How many times have I come through the drive through and been charged more because I'm paying with a card and didn't pay attention? How many times was I charged inside incorrectly? The time I caught it was when I was with my kids and decided to order them the same combos so i could get extra chips/queso. The cheap $4$4$4 turned to ~$17. So what now? I'm a huge fan of taco cabana, I stopped here at 9:40 PM (probably a mistake). From the drive through I ordered: a beef fajita taco salad, a beef fajita combo, and a quesadilla. After ordering I waited 10 minutes before getting to the window and at the window I realized they didn't ring up my beef fajita salad. I ask them to add it and they tell me they just sold the last of the beef fajita meat inside the store. I explained I ordered it 10 minutes ago (with my beef fajita combo) but still no dice (awesome!). I'll have chicken. We pay and get the food only to find the quesadilla is folded and smashed in the box. I go inside to return it and get a half hearted "sorry" from the manager (who is the one who messed up my salad order earlier). The chicken in the salad was cold and the beef fajita meat in the fajitas was burnt. I won't be returning to this location. We went to Whataburger next door afterwards and got good food. read more

The food is decent, but you can't fully customize the breakfast tacos on DoorDash. If you want potato and cheese for example, you can't do it. And the restaurant has disabled the special instructions section so you can't write in a customization either. You can customize the tacos if you go through the drive thru, so I feel like you should be able to customize them online too. read more

I am only leaving one star because when you pay for the 4oz queso they now give you a 2oz and make you pay for another 4oz if you want another 2oz. This makes no sense. I went to the drive through and the car before just left. Then when I finally got to the menu...no one said anything. No "hi can I help you" "welcome to taco cabana" nothing. A few minutes later I finally said hello and a woman answered and was very matter of fact and rude. When I finally got my food I noticed her hands were wet and she didn't even wipe them off before she took my card. The guy inside just threw my enchiladas in the microwave. And then when I finally get home and unwrap the tortillas . They aren't even tortillas just gooey floury not even half of a tortilla.
