I'm unsure how something this good ended up here, but I'm happy it has. The tongue gorditas were little pockets of flavor; the lengua being done just right. $1 tacos (Tuesday's only) were a treat: the asada, pollo, and pastor being good and filling. After hearing about this elusive grocery store/hole in the wall restaurant from several people, my…read morefriends and I decided to give it a shot and it definitely didn't disappoint! The front of the store is jammed with fresh produce in a small fridge and a wall of assorted baked Mexican pastries. The rest of the storefront was squeezed full of different hot sauces and other snacks and drinks. The back of the place was where the food magic happens. The menu is stupid simple (and I mean this in a good way) I opted for the torta cubana that I've heard so much about and IT WAS THE BEST DECISION. I've never had bread like it---super pillowy and soft. The sandwich was stuffed and overflowing with Al pastor and asada and a questionable hotdog/ham love child. The sandwich was huge and I definitely left with a happy full belly. My friends ordered tacos and apparently there was nothing super special about those...it's probably still worth coming back for $1 taco Tuesday! All in all, give this place a shot if you're into those hole-in-the-wall experiences. You won't he disappointed!

Fajitas for one were overpriced at nearly $20 too. Food taste was a let down. The cheese dip and beans were the best items, even though the cheese dip was clumpy (which means overcooked). They give you salsa in teeny tiny dipping sauce size cups that you can't even fit the chips in. Also can't fit the chips in the tiny 4 oz cheese dip cups either. Chips were overcooked, tough, and too thick. My husband nearly cut his gums trying to eat them. Salsa was meh and there was barely any of it. Fajitas didn't taste like they were seasoned at all and were really watery. Really? How lazy do you have to be to not add salt and pepper? Steak was way overcooked and rubbery. Rice, guac, and pico weren't seasoned either. Way too expensive for such mediocre food. I know top tier Mexican food and this was not it. I can make much better food at home. Would not recommend and would not waste money here again. Go somewhere else!

I was staying in Union City for an agricultural field day in Trenton, TN. I was seated promptly and received chips and salsa immediately along with taking my drink order. They had a good selection of different Mexican dishes. I ordered the Pechuga Mexicana, a slab cut from a chicken breast covered in fajita style vegetables and it was served with rice and beans along with tortillas. The servings were on the smaller side but were very tasty and satisfying. The waitress returned several times asking if everything was OK. The restaurant was decorated as the typical Mexican eatery in the midwest. I was just looking at some pictures that were supposedly taken at the Patio Grill but there were no scantily dressed women that I saw and I was thankful for that.

Consider calling ahead to order as they are sometimes so busy it takes a little time to get your food. There's a little sitting area with shade where you can sit and eat or you can get it to go like we had to. Their chicken tacos are perf and even better with pico but don't need salsa verde to be awesome. I also really liked their tacos del pastor. They sell the smaller tacos here so I can usually eat around 3-4. The torta I got was delicious but it was crazy messy and I actually liked it better without the top bit of bread. The quesadilla reminds me of the ones I used to get at El Rancho Grande, my favorite homestyle Mexican restaurant before it closed down. Good memories. Loved: - Quesadilla del Pastor - Quesadilla de Pollo - Taco al Pastor - Taco de Pollo - Torta al Pastor Liked: - Horchata - Salsa Rojo (stings but tasty) - Taco de Carnitas Ok: - Salsa Verde de Aguacate - Sope de frijol y chorizo
