Took a day road trip to Martin TN to check out a coffee shop. We headed to Sammies for an infamous sandwich. My sandwich was quite tasty. I ordered the chipotle chicken wrap. I only ate half of it. It was delish! I also ordered unsweetened tea and added fruit teas available. They had peach as well as raspberry and a house fruit tea that was very flavorful. The service was spot on. We were greeted when we entered and the cashier was friendly and helpful. The sandwich shop is spacious and decorated nicely. It has plenty of tables and chairs for many people. You order at the counter and the servers bring your food to you. The parking can be a tad tricky since the shop shares the lot with many businesses. If ever in Martin, TN, stop by and support this local business. We had a fun time! read more

7/8/21 Today we decided to try Sammies for the first time as long as we have been coming to Union City to work. I must say I give them 10 stars! From calling in the order, picking it up, eating the food it was a great experience for myself and my co-workers. Samuel took my order over the phone as I had several he was very polite and professional. Walking through the door they all said "Welcome To Sammies" with smiles and the guy at the register (Samuel) had the biggest smile and was nothing short of the experience on the phone. I would like to say thank you for a great experience and awesome food. We often go places and report negative experiences but positive experiences are worth being told as well. With that being said keep up the great work guys and we will be back next time in town. We were in Martin for a softball camp and on our lunch break we checked out Sammy's. Their sandwiches are delicious! I have joked several times about driving from Alabama back to Martin just to get a Sammy's sandwich haha! I had the Chicken Gordon Blue, my hubs had the Beef and Cheddar Mushroom Melt, and my daughter had the Club. My bread on the CGB had this awesome Parmesan crust that made the sandwich next level. I wish they were closer because they have a great variety of spuds and salads too. Highly recommend! read more

OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE! I stopped in here prior to a meeting to grab a quick lunch. I'm from Memphis and have never been to Martin. I checked on Yelp for high reviews and Sammie's was listed as #1 or #2. First of all the menu is huge. I thought this was going to be just another sandwich place, but Sammie's has melts, wraps, salads, and more in addition to sandwiches. The staff is very friendly and engaging (greeting people who come in and saying thanks when they leave). This was a nice change in pace for this size restaurant. I had the cordon bleu sandwich and it was excellent. The chicken was tender, juicy and had a great flavor. The sourdough bread was toasted and buttery. The combination of melted cheese and bacon pushed it over the top. Additionally, it's a big sandwich. I also tried the Mac-n-cheese for a side. I try to eat something other than "chips" which a billion places serve and I was not disappointed. It's homemade with two kinds of cheese and I added bacon for a flavor kick. It was righteous. The great food combined with the friendly, clean atmosphere and quick service makes this place a solid destination. There was a big line but it moved surprisingly quickly. Store was noticeably clean. Seating is comfortable but a little cramped. I had the hot italian beef and cream of tomato soup and unsweet tea. Italian beef was very tender and juicy and covered in Giardiniera. I was worried it was going to be too spicy but it was just right. Tomato soup was literally creamy, I think that they put cream in. It had little tomato chunks and mild spices. It was served with a toasted bread stick which was a nice touch. Tea was great, not the colored water most places serve. The food is outstanding; gyros, subs, wraps, salads, dags, stuffed pitas, and assorted sides like loaded baked potatoes or a sweet treat with their amazing house made cookies. It's very affordable, delicious, and great service! They do a fantastic job of updating the menu and providing something fresh and new each time I come back! If you're looking for a quick bite in Martin that's cheap and fresh, Sammies is the way to go. My personal favorite is the chipotle chicken avocado wrap. It is a delicious grilled chicken wrap that comes with veggies, a deliciously sweet combo of vinaigrette and ranch, and zesty flavored tortilla strips all with a healthy serving of avocado. The sides really help Sammies stand out. They offer loaded baked potatoes with similar toppings that are found on most of their sandwich options. They're homemade potato salad is a side to go for as well! I've almost never found myself paying for a meal for 2 for over $15. Came here after taking a mini-tour of UT Martin. They're right across the street, so very easy to get to from the University. I ordered the smallest size of Mesquite BBQ, and a Cordon Bleu, along with sweet tea. The sweet tea here is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Straight up bad. I can't even put it in the same category as bad sweet tea in Texas, it was that bad. I thought it was maybe artificial sweetener or something. This was on the peach flavored tea, the regular tea, and yes, even the unsweetened tea tasted funny (and still didn't taste right after adding sugar). The Cordon Bleu was okay, but on the bland side. The Mesquite BBQ was very good, and I'd order another if I could. Customer service here was also very good. read more

My family absolutely loves Sammies. The food mostly is good. The only issues I have had are sometimes the assortment of potatoes (baked potatoes and potato skins) are still cold. With the slick signage and the efficiently designed interior of a major fast food chain, but the quality of a neighborhood Mom-and-Pop deli, this place is truly the best of both worlds. The menu is much larger and more comprehensive than you might expect and the service is quite attentive and detail oriented. When I asked, I found out that this is actually one of only two locations. The signage is so professional because apparently one member of the owning family is as skilled in commercial art as the rest of the family is with the culinary arts. For me, as an instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, Sammies has the added advantage of a 10% discount for faculty. Making this place a really great deal. If I felt like waiting 45 minutes for a tuna melt I would've asked my 80 year old grandmother to make it for me. If you lose an order, don't act annoyed that you need to make another one and take an additional 20 minutes to do so. As for the sandwich - sub par should be the new name of the restaurant.
