I see reviews where this place was busy...not today. 10am on a Saturday morning and I'm the only table. CU game is on so maybe everyone is watching the game? Edit: that's not the case. I drove by J&Ls and it was full, as was village inn. I'm not a coffee snob and lived off shite hotel coffee for months. This coffee was garbage...watery. When I mentioned it, and asked for a cup when there was a fresh pot, they replied, "that's the only coffee we have". The Huevos wasn't awesome but the ham on top, they griddled/grilled and that part was great. Anyway, This place is authentic in service only.

Barely see any places use paper straws anymore, yet here you can find them... love the old school touch... The Good: This seems to be the place for all the locals to go for lunch and you can feel it in the welcoming atmosphere. As out of towners we didn't get any funky looks but instead we treated as if we come here twice a week. Our son's Mexican Burger was very delicious and my wife's Gourmet Grilled Chicken Salad did not disappoint at all either. The Bad: My Taco Salad was more of a ground beef salad with tortilla chips and salsa in the side. It was a well tasting salad, yet not earning the Mexican part if it at all. The dressings on my wife's Gourmet Grilled Chicken Salad were also pre packaged and that surprised us a bit as most places like this take pride in making dressings from scratch. The Ugly Truth: We were very delighted with the welcoming smiles and large portions of mouth watering options for our lunch stop. We will definitely consider stopping in again if we pass through when they are open (see the bfast and lunch open times) it would have earned a 5 star plus if the Taco Salad would have had some type of Mexican taste to it. That being my disappointment dropped it to 4 stars. Looking around all the other plates in front of happy customers we saw, the portions on all meals were more then plenty to calm your hungry stomach. Enjoy if you decide to drop in...

Let me start by saying the food was excellent. The service on the other hand left much to be desired. Our visit was on a Thursday night, at about 6:30pm, and there were only a few other customers. To begin, upon arrival, we waited by the sign which read, "Wait to be Seated", and were ignored. I asked an employee if we were to seat ourselves, we were given a shrug. After seating ourselves, a server came by with menus. We were asked about drinks, my daughter asked for water and to see a drink menu. I didn't need water, but said I would be ordering a margarita. When we ordered, it was clear that the server had no familiarity with the menu. We had to repeat our order twice. Shortly after taking our order, the server came by with her water and some random margarita for me. Ten minutes after ordering a second server came by to re-take our order, since the first server forgot our order. Our food arrived at our table one plate at a time, with several minutes between each trip. My daughter's entree sat and got cold while she waited for my entree, and again for her side of green chile. No one ever returned to check on our meals or to have another drink. Additionally, there was an unpleasant smell in the restaurant that got more pronounced towards the restroom area. This is probably just because it's Sterling, and not necessarily their fault. I still rated at three stars, since the great food trumps the poor service, but begrudgingly. To the owners: I hope you read this and are able to bring this restaurant up to the standards of your Fort Morgan location. It is very obvious that the current front end staff are not well trained, and are dragging your good reputation down the drain. I truly hope you are able. I was very excited when you first moved into your first Sterling location, but the poor service will keep me and my neighbors finding another option. Since I've had good experiences in the past, I will probably give you another chance in the future.

Apparently serving paying customers a few minutes before closing was too much to ask. My reply to the owner... Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, your response reinforces the concerns I expressed in my original review. Rather than addressing the customer experience, you chose to dismiss it by focusing on the time we arrived and by implying that my review was the result of me "needing a great day." That kind of sarcasm does not reflect the level of professionalism customers should expect from a business owner. You stated that you personally saw us enter at 9:40 PM and that the kitchen had already closed at 9:30 PM. However, I take accuracy seriously, and I do not appreciate being misrepresented. I have a screenshot documenting the time I left your establishment, which directly contradicts the timeline presented in your response. If the facts are important enough for you to publicly defend your business, they should also be important enough to present truthfully. To be clear, businesses have every right to establish kitchen hours and closing procedures. Had the situation simply been explained professionally and courteously, my review likely would have reflected that. What stands out is not the policy itself, but the way concerns were handled afterward. I travel extensively throughout the United States and internationally, reviewing small family-owned businesses because I genuinely enjoy supporting them. In many cases, when an owner responds thoughtfully and demonstrates a commitment to customer service, I am willing to reconsider or update a review. In this case, however, instead of leaning into customer service and understanding, you chose to defend, justify, and direct sarcasm toward a customer. I can accept mistakes. What I have a much harder time accepting is dishonesty. The screenshot of the time I left your establishment speaks for itself. I wish you and your business the best, but I stand by my review. To make matters worse, we had a similar experience elsewhere in Sterling when a Sonic employee snapped at us for trying to place an order. Thankfully, Village Inn restored a little faith in customer service with friendly staff, welcoming patrons, and genuine hospitality. If you're traveling through town, don't expect Parts and Labor to go out of its way for customers. We were in and out in under a minute--with nothing but a bad impression to take with us.

I generally try to judge a restaurant not only by its food, but by the overall experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short. We arrived with a larger group, and from the moment we walked in, it felt as though our presence was more of an inconvenience than an opportunity to welcome guests. Large parties can certainly require extra effort, but hospitality is often what separates an average restaurant from a memorable one. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling like we had disrupted the staff's day. As for the food, it was okay. Nothing was bad, but nothing particularly stood out either. It was serviceable and met expectations, but it wasn't memorable enough to outweigh the disappointing customer service experience. I'm sharing this review because I genuinely hope ownership takes it as constructive feedback. Restaurants succeed when guests feel valued, and with a little more attention to hospitality, I believe the overall experience could improve significantly.
