I'm still here in Lansing for a conference and after a long day of meetings, my coworker and I were…read morehungry. The original spot we wanted to go to was packed and we didn't want to wait, so we came here instead. Walking in the place is cutely decorated and has two levels. since it was kind of loud downstairs, we sat upstairs instead. The menus kind of slim but they do have a bunch of different taco options to choose from. my coworker went with a plain taco and I went with two of the French dip tacos. The tacos were good but for some reason I think there was bacon on it but I was so tired I didn't feel like sending it back. Plus, it was dark and I honestly couldn't tell, but I'm certain there was bacon. They do charge a 3% fee if you run your card, which I did because after two tacos and a pop, my bill was $18?!?! My coworker paid cash and she still got the service fee? It wasn't huge but really, what's happening here? Anyway, this place isn't bad but I don't know that I'd return in the future for a variety of reasons but I can see why people do love it here as it's a fun place to watch sports on TV and hang out with friends!

I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed with my experience at this barrios location. The…read moreservice was great, but the ambiance and food were just ok. I got two "build your own" tacos. For meats, I picked the chorizo + black beans & the seasoned pulled chicken. I will say it was fun to build my own & pick all the toppings I wanted. The food quality was just ok. I was a bit disappointed by the flavor (was expecting more flavor and more tender meat). The toppings were ok, but didn't really blow me away either. The pineapple salsa was a bit overpowering & it all blended together a bit too much. I will say these were my choices - but I felt quality and taste could've been better. Not just from an "authentic street taco" perspective, but also for a "fusion" / new American taco joint perspective. I did try the "French dip" taco from the el jefe menu and it was great! The barbacoa was pretty good too. And the salsa + guac was really good. Ambiance was ok. It felt like it needed to be refreshed a bit inside & we were a bit cold by the door. Overall, I had an ok experience. Fun to build tacos from scratch, but was a bit disappointed by the food quality. Price was great though.

Totally unimpressed by this place. I never see myself returning here for tacos, however they have a…read moremeat market in the store where you can buy fresh meats and bulk salsa, guac, chips etc that is pretty cool! I got the chicken tacos and 8oz side of rice and beans. Their menu read confusing, as they didn't have prices on the different meats, and tacos ranged from $2.99-$3.99 so I wasn't even sure how much my tacos would come to. I also thought it was 8oz combined of rice & beans for like $2.99 but I believe it rang up as individual 8oz containers. My total for the plate (3 tacos) & sides came to ~$16 without a tip or drink. The chicken tacos were SO bland. I tried adding more lime, the grilled onions, radishes, both the red and green salsas, and even rice and beans but nothing could rescue the flat flavor of nothingness every time I bit into my tacos. My red salsa that came with my plate was genuinely lame, it had hints of Tabasco sauce? Like they were trying to make it so spicy without any actual depth or flavor. I expected more from this place. I did try my friends steak from his taco and it was a bit more flavorful, so perhaps I got the wrong meat. Their employees were very nice and service wasn't too long, restaurant clean but limited seating! I would only return here to try the California burrito. I can find similar prices and great quality elsewhere.

Also it has a small meat, cheese section inside where you can buy marinated meats for your table. Ordered 3 different california burritos Al Pastor, Steak, Chicken. Portions are big and not expensive. Chicken was favorite. Definitely will be coming back to try more staff.

Wow so glad we decided to give them a try!…read more This was a delicious smash burger. It really was. The seasoned fries were great and if you know me, I hate seasoning on fries. But these, keep them coming! I also tried two tacos. The chicken and cauliflower. The cauliflower was the best out of the two tacos and I was so surprised. Service was great as well. The inside was so much fun. It had lots of pinballs machines to play with. They also had crane machines.

Went to dinner with some friends and decided to check this place out…read more AMBIANCE: definitely a casual place. place your order at the counter, and there are a dozen or so tables and booths where you can sit with your party. they have a number of pinball machines which adds to the "vibe" of the place. If I were in my teens again, I could see myself hanging out here quite a bit. SERVICE: the people working the counter were very friendly, and very busy as there were a lot of to go orders. Didn't have a lot of questions, though they did make recommendations that we found to be helpful. MENU: tacos, burritos and burgers oh my! You can also build bowls - choose your meat, toppings and away you go. They also have nachos and loaded fries which I am a big fan of. They only have one burger, and it is a smash burger, along with a chicken sandwich (both regular and spicy) FOOD: my wife went with a carne asada taco, while I opted for the smash burger. We also went with the carne asada loaded fries. Drinks are by the bottle, and nothing to outrageous to choose from, so we went with iced tea. the Carne asada on both the tacos and fries almost looked like ground beef, but upon close inspection, realized it was just chopped a bit finer than we were used to. The smash burger had a "big mac" flavor profile to it, and was tasty. The carne asada fries were good, and were more than enough for my wife and I. OVERALL: not a bad spot for casual meal with some friends. If I wanted burgers or a taco specifically, I may go somewhere else, but if you are with people that want both options, check this place out. CELEBRITY RATING: Carlos Mencia
