it is Tuesday July 14th at 3:29 a.m. and I came in to this Taco Bell to place an order. unbeknownst to me there was a particular issue that neither Taco Bell or myself was responsible for causing. I don't want to stay with that issue is because there are people that would take advantage of the situation and copycat it just to get something for free. so I'm going to refrain from stating what the situation was. Given that the situation wasn't either person's fault but more so an errorr with the computer banking system the manager was extremely nice thoughtful and considerate and actually picked up the tab for the error. I let him know that it wasn't his fault and he says it wasn't my fault either (me). He was very kind and thoughtful with picking up the cost of the meal and I appreciated it very much. If this is the new way of you doing business at the new Taco Bell I'm not only not a fan, I just won't come back. Been coming to this location since the late 1970's. Sad to see it getting replaced with a bland modern squarish store just to the East. There are only a handful of original mission style stores left with store #031 closing its doors. This has always been a great place to bring friends from out of town who were surprised to see the old original building. Definitely would bring back memories for most. I can understand that it is a business, and companies look at the bottom line and make decisions without emotion, but many of us here always hoped this store would remain as it always was - old and original. Or, if it were replaced that the old store would become a Taco Bell Museum of sorts. Likely not to happen. Personally, I wonder how well the new store will do to start. I imagine they've been doing really well in recent weeks since the closing was announced, but many of those same people may not visit the new one. If we're in the area I am sure we'll give it a chance, but it definitely will not be the same. Besides the nostalgia this store always did well with customer service and getting our food orders correct. Here's hoping that part transfers over to the new building. read more

My first visit was at their prior location in 1980. It was good then and better now. Everything I have tried has been enjoyed. Parking and dining space were limited until the new location opened. It's a Taco Bell. You should have an idea of how the food tastes. This location is open 24 hours and there is often a line at the drive-thru after the bars close in Scottsdale's Old Town area. I have found the employees are generally nice and friendly. Very little parking and only two booths for seating inside in the AC. This is a great location with an antique building, but the drive thru is difficult to navigate due to tight quarters. Still, I tried the new Cheez-it items and they were good enough. I stopped by at about 2:35am for some late night food. The store and drive-thru look brand-new! I tried the new chicken nuggets and nacho fries combo, and it was amazing! These are by far the best tasting and quality chicken nuggets on the fast food market, especially since most competitors serve them cold and stale! These nuggets are freshly fried and taste just as good or better than the fried chicken tenders at local dine-in establishments like bars and restaurants. The meat is juicy and super premium chicken, not processed with fillers. The fire ranch sauce was good, but they only let you get 1 of the 3 sauce types. The nacho fries are tasty and freshly fried but they were kind of soggy, which actually seemed to enhance the flavor surprisingly. The 5-pc combo comes with a large drink for $7.55 including tax, making it the most affordable combo they offer! Service was pretty good. Did not go inside so cannot comment on ambiance. read more

Old store #031 was a gem. I went there whenever I was down that way, solely for the nostalgia. I'm really going to miss it. The new store is a dumpster fire. Upon entering, I was greeted with 5 ordering kiosks and a pick-up window for DoorDash, Uber Eats, et al. I turned a corner to find a small counter with a register carefully concealed behind yet another kiosk. The kicker: NO menu board! The clear message is, 'order from a kiosk or NO TACO FOR YOU!' I did eventually get someone to take my order the old school way--and fortunately for me, I am familiar with the menu--but it was an apparent inconvenience to the employee. The food was consistent with expectations--nothing notable. But the dining area is most unwelcoming. Keep in mind, we're in the desert here. Now, put your architect hat on for a minute. What time of day would you expect to be a Taco Bell location's peak business hours? Discounting the late night drive-thru drunk rush, I'm thinking noon-ish through early evening. Where is the sun positioned during those hours? Yep. So, why on God's Earth would you build a west-facing dining area with 12 foot floor-to-ceiling glass? There is no refuge from the pounding sunlight. The outdoor patio at old #031 was far more comfortable. Considering my order was bagged despite stating my intent to dine in, it is clear that eating on the premises is discouraged. Over the last six months, I've observed a trend that is evidently endorsed by Taco Bell corporate: No cashiers, no counter service, unattended dirty dining areas and avoided contact with customers. It's like a glorified vending machine. I've been a regular Taco Bell patron for 50 years. If this 'Robo Bell' model is the new standard, we'll be parting company for good. read more

At this Taco Bell location, there's really no where to park. I saw two or three parallel parking spots as I entered the drive through area. I feel that this location is more about drive through, than for people to sit in to eat. When I went, the drive through was pretty busy. I decided to park and then go inside. There is no parking other than the 2 or 3 parallel parking spots. So, don't do what I did, which was to look for more spaces and end up having to make a U-turn in the street to get back to the parallel parking area. Inside, there was about only one booth and it was occupied by other customers. I went up to the front and one of the employees greeted me. He said it would be a moment. I think it was because the drive through was busy. Anyway, after that, he asked me for my order and my order came out fairly quickly. Overall, the experience was okay and the service was good. The store is pretty unique because it is so small. I think there were 2 tables outside to make the grand total of tables equal to 3. The food was typical for Taco Bell. The staff is always nice, and I've never had anything messed up with my order. I have never been inside to see about its cleanliness, etc. The location is a really old building, and it shows. My tacos always, always fall apart. Who knows, they may not have been in one piece when I got them, but it makes for a difficult eat. I love the Doritos Nacho supreme tacos too much to admit. I ordered from their mobile app to pickup at this location; I go inside to pickup with nobody behind the counter and nobody acknowledging my presence in their store for about a minute (no worries at this point as I don't mind having time in general to think about an order, but I only mention the lack of communication as a prerequisite for what's about to come). Finally a lady (without a name tag) quietly says hi and I explain I'm waiting on a mobile order; she turns around to ask a co-worker if it's ready and I overhear something about "tell him we didn't have ... so I made this other thing instead". I don't even remember what the item in question that they made instead was, but the first point is any good exchange should never ever be made without first asking the customer - you never assume because you ran out of an item, a customer will automatically want something else. The particular item they didn't have was my wife's order, and so I said "well if you don't have it, then just refund me for that item please". The worker (still don't know her name) says she can't do a refund on a mobile order...which obviously in and of itself is mind boggling, but when I kindly inquired what to do next she offered no help - further said I had to seek help from the app and when I asked where to navigate to, how to get a refund from an app, she said she can't help me because she doesn't know the app. Abruptly she asks another customer behind me if she can help him. I didn't move from my place in front of counter, but I patiently waited for her to help the customer behind me and then I asked "who is the manager". She says, "I am". I ask, "may I have your business card please; I don't want this food, I'm leaving it here". She says she doesn't have any cards. I say "alright, can you write down your name on a piece of paper then please... She goes to the back and returns holding a piece of paper, and I hold up my phone to take a picture of her - she holds up the paper to block her face and moves out of view. One of the other workers (5 of them, all mysteriously without name tags), who is older looking and is wearing a non-taco-bell striped shirt, the one who I've assumed was the manager the whole time, says "you can't take her picture, she's underage". I inquire: "the manager is both under age and working at at a Taco Bell?" I look her in the eyes and ask, "are you the manager?" Her response: "no". So I take a seat real quick to google Taco Bell's corporate number and give them a fast dial, but unfortunately they were already closed. So as I'm leaving I go back to the counter and take a video of the lady in the striped shirt just noting that none of them are wearing their name tags and nobody wants to give me a name - as I'm doing so, a guy who I first thought was a customer, says "why are you taking a video"... I quickly explain I got the wrong order on a mobile app and just wishing for a refund, and trying to find out who is the manager - the guy who wasn't a customer but instead an off-duty employee just arriving for their shift laughs and points at the lady in the striped shirt and says, "she's the manager". I tell him thanks, noted, he laughs and goes to change into uniform. Over such a silly little thing as running out of an item and not following proper procedure on what to do in that circumstance, then escalating into everyone removing their name tags and lying about management. I hardly ever write reviews and I do a lot of shopping, traveling, and eating; all over my city, across the country, and around the world; so mainly when I do write a review it's one of two things: absolutely top of the line exceptional service, or over the top scratch your head what the hell Year is it service. I have video of the incident and will be reporting the entire crew to corporate, to the better business bureau, to the local news, to YouTube, and social media. I wouldn't say they had BAD customer service; I would say they had NO customer service. After ordering my food through the drive-thru the guy working the window seemed legitimately confident. He took my order: #4 Mexican pizza, substitute beef on the Pizza and the tacos for beans. And change the hard tacos to softshell tacos. Add two shredded chicken soft tacos with chicken, beans and sour cream only. I confirmed that the order I gave him was repeated back to me properly. But when handed my food at the window, thankfully, I double checked the shredded chicken tacos for accuracy. They were wrong. There was lettuce, cheese and tomatoes on both of them. The drive-thru line was backed up and waiting on me. Never did the employee at the window apologize for the mistake. Instead the woman that made the food came to the drive-they to convince me that she made the order correctly. So I dig through the tacos and showed her they were wrong. I literally pointed out the lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. I also showed her my receipt that said NO lettuce, NO cheese and NO tomatoes. She raised her voice and said, she was not wrong. She made them right.
