Late night, only vegetarian option In scotsboro

Umm, how did this even happen? A taco HELL just got 5 stars. Let me tell you. We saw a long drive thru line and we figured we would just go in. *after a football game *Right before inside closed *teenage staff.... I expected the worst. To my surprise we had the best service and pretty good fast food. I wish I had gotten all the names. We were greeted immediately!!!! They were very kind to explain a couple of items as I don't know the menu. They were courteous enough to ask if all the meat would be subbed out for beans -yes! They asked a name for order - even verified spelling. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. We chose inside. The lobby/ seating area was spotless. The condiments were clean and full. We stopped by bathroom to wash our hands - again spotless. While we ate a large large large group came in right at close. The staff never said a word just smiled and went about their jobs. I was so blown away by everything about this visit. Congrats Friday night 920ish pm staff and manager!

I asked for no beans on my 5 layer burrito and it was littered with beans (luckily I'm not allergic) I get to the "nacho fries" and there's literally little to no seasoning on them I don't know if they changed the amount they put on them or if whomever is working got lazy.

This has to be the worst Taco Bell we didn't have half our order in the bag and the inside is never open.

Best Taco Bell in the world. Cheesy Gorditta Crunch with hot sauce. Eat at outside patio, even during late night.

The place itself is small, quaint, and authentically Mexican, and the server was super sweet though not Mexican at all. Prices are VERY reasonable, though they've gone up slightly I think in the past few years (to be expected). Here's what we tried: -Mex Sausage Taco: 8/10 - Small, but great flavor. The tortilla on this taco was stunning: it was a corn tortilla, yet it was so thick and soft. That's not something you see everyday. The sausage (chorizo) was well seasoned and nicely crumbly, and it was an overall pretty good street taco. -Aztec Steak Burrito: 9/10 - The flavor of the meat inside the burrito was so good, as the steak was tender and well seasoned. (The burrito comes with a huge portion of mexican rice and refried beans, and while the rice is your average if not a bit less flavorful mexican rice, the refried beans are very watery and pretty lacking in richness.) The burrito is definitely the important part of this plate, and it hit the mark for me. -Chicken Tamale: 7/10 - Chicken was good, though I wish they had put cheese in with the chicken to add some extra texture and spice things up. It was a well made tamale, just not the best I've had. -Dobladas: 5/10 - We weren't sure what to expect here. Normally dobladas are a guatemalan dish where tortillas are simply folded and fried in a pan with cheese. This was almost like a gordita-esque dish, consisting of an even thicker than normal tortilla with chicken, lettuce, and sour cream. The chicken isn't packing a big punch, and while the tortilla is good, the lettuce and the sour cream don't add enough flavor to really make the dish sing. It's good though, and something more on the fresh side if that's what you're looking for. -Chicken Quesadilla: 2/10 - Wow, so so disappointing. The cheese was barely melted, the tortilla was dry, and the chicken was lackluster in flavor. Not worth it at all. Wouldn't come again, but not a bad experience.

Huge pieces of carrots, potatoes, and fall off the bone meat with a delicious consume that only gets better with the addition of fresh cilantro and diced onions. Warm tortillas accompany this hearth soup tha twill keep you full ALL day. Yummy! Can't wait to come back for more, especially with the cold weather on the horizon. 92 health rating and a real down home feel.

Chips and salsa were brought to the table without having to ask, which is always a welcome touch. Service was attentive considering there was only one server handling the floor. Props to them for keeping things running smoothly. The food was middle-of-the-road -- not the best Mexican I've had, but certainly not the worst either. If you're looking for a solid, no-surprises meal, it'll do the job. The atmosphere is actually one of the highlights. It's a nice bar setting, well-lit, and wasn't overly loud during our early visit -- easy to hold a conversation, which isn't always a given at a bar. Now, the restrooms could use some attention. They're a bit dated and in need of updating. I did get a chuckle out of the handwashing requirement sign posted prominently on the wall -- right next to the one soap dispenser that happened to be completely empty. It makes you wonder how closely that policy is actually enforced. Overall, La Cabaña by JUAN is a fine spot for drinks and a casual bite. Just maybe bring your own hand sanitizer.

The waitress was attentive to our needs. Restaurant has a great view sitting on the river, and then you order your meal, and everything changes into a train wreck. The chef was probably named salty. Prices were expensive and the food was awful. The first appetizer was horrible have no way of describing it. Maybe Rancid word be a good word. The second one bought out was so salty that I thought there was no salt left in the kitchen, served with hard salty chips. I was wrong! Crab cakes came in all their splendor. Salty and dry very little taste at all. Fell into a crumbly mess once my fork entered the picture, served with a rice pilaf dry and hard. A vegetable medley lay at the side of the hockey puck sized crab cakes. To end the night I ordered a bread pudding to go and it turned out to be a pound cake with a sauce and whipped cream. Well if you like salt and a meal to remember this is the place for you. I'll spend my next dinner out else where. To improve they need a chef that knows how to use herbs instead of the salt shaker, how to make a salad, and how to make a presentation of the food prepared. Even if it's bad it should at least look edible.
