However, when I called the store, I was able to get a reservation right away. I expected it to be packed, but when we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty, there was only one person in the dining area and two at the bar. We ordered a Corona, a lemonade, an apple juice, and a coconut margarita. The margarita was very small for the price and didn't have much coconut flavor. For dinner, we had the fajitas, a steak bowl, three cheese quesadilla for the kids, and the chorizo-loaded fries. The fries were the only thing I actually enjoyed. The fajitas and steak bowl lacked authentic flavor, and for $50, the platter only had three shrimp and a few pieces of steak and chicken buried under a huge pile of peppers and onions. To top it off, we waited 10 minutes for the churros after asking to sing 'Happy Birthday' to my daughter. For $250, this experience was definitely not worth it, and we won't be returning. Since then, they have been one of the most amazing spots ever. Great food, a variety of options, so many specials and amazing service. Every person that works at all these locations has always been friendly. I haven't dined in at the new one yet but from what I see they have a full bar and the ambience looks great. Their steak is always perfectly cooked, medium rare, juicy most and packed with flavor. All of their meat options are absolutely delicious. They are limited on the sauces they provide but I am so happy they are consistent throughout. I've had their burritos, their wings, their enchiladas their chicken you name it. You will always see me here as this will remain one of my consistent places to dine in or for take out.

I found it's no easy task to find fresh vegan food in these parts, let alone places that deliver throughout Nassau and Western Suffolk counties as does Conscious Kitchen LI. So I was very happy to stumble upon CKLI's pics of beautiful fresh veggie concoctions on Instagram, perused their weekly online menu and placed an order via their secure website (note: currently CKLI is a delivery only biz, no eat-in facilities). Food is made from scratch, locally sourced and organic. For my first delivery I got: 1) weekly special salad - microgreens, chick peas, beets, asparagus, strawberries, almonds and other goodies with miso dressing on the side; 2) Falafel Hummus Wrap; 3) Thai Butternut Squash Soup; 4) Pasta Fagioli Soup; 5) Green and Red Juices. My food was delivered on time, nicely packaged in compostable containers. I enjoyed everything I ordered and portions were pretty good, especially the pristinely fresh salad which weighed in at 16 oz. Fresh squeezed juices were especially delicious, housed in cute glass bottles that one can exchange at the next order drop-off. Soups were more like stews, thick, hearty and well spiced with fresh herbs. CKLI is a small biz that delivers locally (0-5 miles from Glen Cove) from 5-6:30PM, and 5+ miles away from 6:30-8PM. I fall into the latter area and got my food at 6:30. Delivery is flat rate $5 Glen Cove local and $6 for other LI towns, not bad if you're placing a robust order. For now my cheeseburger-addicted hubbie took a pass on these vegan vittles, but I'm still hoping he'll try something from my next CKLI deliver lol.
