Chicken Cantina Burrito Meal!
Dayna R.

Okay, this review is coming from the bottom of my heart and my very happy belly! After driving for 4 hours, I was starving- been moving and cleaning all day and I was STARVING! I know my funds are limited so I see Taco Bell as I drive out of the Kohls parking lot and check my account, 20 bucks - ALL GOOD! Roll up and a very friendly-sounding voice takes my order. ( Chicken Cantina Burrito Meal Please) 2 cars ahead of me are through in less than a minute. I hand over my card, feeling so ready to gurub ! The nice worker says I'm sorry but your card didnt go through I am knowing I have 20 bucks cause I checked... It must be a security check, is my response. Long story , shorter I check bank app and see shockingly that my balance is now 5.98. I'm super embarrassed and say I'll go back around and order again through the app. So now, I'm just getting a 5 layer Burrito. To my surprise, "Shaggy" the friendly voice in speaker is actually the manager and he says that he ha my first order and is giving it to me on the house!! How nice is that?! Food was verh good and I'm really thankful to Shaggy's and everyone working at Carson St Taco Bell. You guys are the best Thanks so much!!!

Went through the drive-thru about 10:30pm. They not only got the order wrong, but the food was very poorly made. Pictured is what was supposed to be a double spicy chalupa. It wasn't even a "single" and no jalapeños.

Sour cream on the bean burritos now?

The Yelp reviews don't lie on this hole in the wall Mexican Restaurant. They only have 5 tables,…read morebut the service was excellent and the waitress was very helpful and friendly. Their salsa was outstanding, we actually bought a pint of it. We ordered their Menudo and wow, the flavors were excellent and they service it with lime wedges, white onions and cilantro on the side and homemade tortillas. We also ordered the chili rellano plate which was huge and delicious. This Mexican restaurant deserves high accolades to the chef, owner, and servers. AND I left my cell phone on the table and got almost home and realized I didn't have it with me, I drove back even though they were closed and they greeted me at the door with a smile and my phone. Thank you for being honest. Will highly recommend this gem.

Quality/Quantity - Complimentary Chips and Salsa - Love hearty chips, and my wife thought they were home made...? I think it was store bought... Quesabirria Tacos - 4 (small) tacos, a cup of sauce and a side of condiments, toppings. See pictures. If you have been following, I have been on a Birria Taco quest, trying this type of tacos every change I get. These were just okay. The sauce was good and it had generous meat/beef. But it lacked cheese?!?! See my last Birria Taco review at Mama Papa. Chimichanga - My wife really enjoyed this. She did not believe me when I told her that this was a deep fried burrito, lol. Generous portions, and she was only able to eat half. Guess we have dinner tonight. My wife and I felt the food was fairly authentic. BTW - EVERYONE ordered soup!! Menudo, Pozole, 7 Mares or Caldo de Res, etc! My wife really wanted to order this to try, but it was 70 degrees outside. Just means we have to come back. :) Kids menu also available. Atmosphere - Small location, the indoor and outdoor space was about the same size. Full of locals, everyone sort of knew each other which was cool. Semi open kitchen. One unisex restroom, I did not bother to check it out. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm as per Yelp. Plenty of parking Service - Overall good, welcoming. Counter or table service. We kind of stood out, and not in a negative way. The owner/cashier wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The waiter was a hard worker, cleaning our table, and bringing out chips and salsa to us. Then we went to the counter to order. Price - No prices on the menus?!?! $30 + generous tip. Reasonably priced, but for a "hole in the wall"?!?! Owner Comment - Congrats on your success.

The birria and quesabirrias are absolutely delicious--very flavorful without being overly salty. I also loved the combination of condiments. Nothing was overwhelmingly spicy, but if you like more heat, you can definitely request it. The service was excellent--attentive, cordial, and respectful. The ambiance is definitely a small, hole-in-the-wall type of spot, but honestly, don't let the size fool you--the food is delicious! Sometimes the best food comes from the smallest places. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

I had a recommendation from a friend to stop here, I am glad I did!…read more I am a firm believer that the fancier the Mexican restaurant, the more bland the food will be. This location is not a flashy place, it is very simple. But, the food is incredible. I opted for a simple order of carne asada tacos and al pastor tacos. These are my barometer dishes to guage the quality of the food. Both of the tacos were wonderful. The carne asada was seasoned and grilled to perfection. The al pastor was marinated and juicy and so full of flavor. The sign to me that this spot is focused on the food was the handmade tortillas. It takes a lot of effort and skill to be able to make perfect corn tortillas! The ladies behind the counter were so friendly and I could tell they put a lot of love into the food they prepare. I will recommend this spot to anyone that is looking fro great food in North Carson.

Perfect for snacks but everything is so good you might as well make it a meal!…read more I came in for an elote and mangoneada but ended up with half the menu instead. They have a tablet at the front for ordering so I scrolled through and wanted EVERYTHING. Thank goodness I brought someone else because we split birria fries (10/10), cueritos, un esquite (10/10), a cheese and pepper tamale (10/10) and an agua Fresca (11/10). It can be overwhelming if it's your first time. But, if you know what you're craving, the decision might be easier. I could not make up my mind to just get 1 item. I originally came for ice cream and/or a sweet treat. I ended up getting 3 things. - Strawberries & Cheesecake ice cream. Not really worth it. The ice cream was vanilla with strawberry puree mixed in, so the texture was icy. And it had bits of cheesecake bites in it. It was underwhelming for me. - Esquites . I love elote and esquites. The esquites was pretty decent. Served warm with mayo and topped with cotija and tajin. Easy to eay and their small size is a good portion. I couldn't finish it. - Fresas con crema. Something so simple tastes so good. This was my fave and worth coming back for. It's a large cup of sliced strawberries swimming in a sweet cream mixture of Mexican crema, condensed milk, and evaporated milk, topped with whipped cream. It was so delicious. The portion is plenty for 1 person. I'm glad I have leftovers because I definitely would have craved it again. There are so many things to try that I definitely will be back to try their savory items. The woman who served us was extremely polite and helpful. We enjoyed our time there.

This last Tuesday I finally decided to come on in and check this place out. I never did go to the…read moreold store, but I knew they built a new one and I've been eager to try it. So this past taco Tuesday I thought would've been a great time to go ahead and do that. Walking in I couldn't believe how clean it is inside and how nice they arranged everything is it's so modern and very spacious. As you walk up, the menu is up above you and you kinda look at what you want. All the cooks are in the back doing their business. As I waited to place my order, I noticed the lady ahead of me that was ordering was having several issues making her payment with the server that was behind the register. It took long enough where I had to go to the register next to me with the same server because another person had to come up and resolve the issue. Little did, I realize that this server had very little experience and she must've been a new hire because she seemed lost. A real deer in the headlights look in her face. I placed my order and she had a really hard time understanding me. She brought me the wrong beer and couldn't seem to understand what I was wanting. It dawned on me that she doesn't speak English. However, I speak enough Spanish to where it should've been easy enough for her to understand what I was wanting. So I ordered two Carnitas tacos and a Modelo Especial for my sister and the same thing for myself, except I wanted a strip of chicharrone. Assuming she understood what I was wanting I paid for my food on the little kiosk that they have. It looked a little strange on the kiosk like the order was confused but I thought OK whatever I'm sure they'll get it right. Sitting down, I kept looking at my receipt thinking this isn't correct. But I thought I'll just work it out when the order comes. Which took forever to come. I'm not sure what the issue is, but the order took forever to get. It took long enough that I walked up to the counter and kind of stood there hoping they they'd get the hint. But nobody did. Everybody before me, and after me kept getting their orders and I'm just standing there. You would think somebody would say something and say can I help you sir or let me see your receipt and will help you out but nobody did. I finally said something and they said it's coming. Waiting again I waited a little bit longer. My sister's order finally came, but no order for me. That's when I finally spoke up and say hey I ordered this and that and I'm not getting it. A young man said no problem. I'll fix it for you which he did and I really appreciated it. I even offered to pay for it after I was done eating, which I did not mind doing. He said no problem. Don't worry about paying so I did not worry about it. I'm not sure what the problem with the cashier was, but it was very much an inconvenience. I'm not gonna tell anybody not to come here because I'm sure this might've been just so a weird incident. But I don't know if I'll be back I have another spot. I normally go to for taco Tuesday and it's always good. They know what I want and there's never a problem. Having said that the food was OK it wasn't anything spectacular. This was just my experience so I'm sure other people have great experiences here.

Ambiance: Relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with Mexican-inspired décor and cultural touches throughout the restaurant. There was a steady flow of guests, giving the place a lively but comfortable feel. Restrooms: Clean and decent, although a bit outdated. Service: Friendly but somewhat disorganized, possibly because we had a large group. The waitress initially told me the bartender was busy, but later realized she had never entered my drink order. She apologized and removed it from the bill. She also brought the wrong entrée for one of my friends but corrected it promptly. On a positive note, she graciously accommodated another friend's custom drink request even though it wasn't on the menu. Chips & Salsa: The first basket is complimentary. We were told additional baskets normally have a charge, but during our visit we were offered unlimited refills. Food: Fresh, authentic, and generously portioned. Recommended dishes: Salmon Atlántico, Fish Tacos, Artichoke Dip, Enchiladas, and Bistec.
