I am SO honored to be the first to review Minnesota's brand new Taco Bell Defy location! This innovative new way to serve drive-through fast food is one of the many reasons I'm a TBell girl. Let's start with the highlights: - YES it's the only one in the world & first of its kind! - YES there are four lanes to make pickups easier! - YES your food comes down in a tube like at the bank! - YES it looks futuristic and cool! There's tons of parking here, so you can definitely order inside if you want. They've got a screen to order at and a team behind the glass working on orders, and a station for napkins and such but other than that, it's pretty simple inside! The main attraction here is the drive through. They separate in person orders and mobile orders which I LOVE because you know I'm using the app! 4 lanes means even on their second day open the wait was minimal. They had three team members out helping customers which was so helpful. At the first pillar for mobile orders, I scanned my QR code to confirm my order. Then, I pulled up to the next pillar to see the epic food tube! Wait for your food to come down on the tray and then glass screen goes down to open. And voila - grab your food and you're off! This is SO exciting to have in Minnesota - go check it out!

I'm enough of a dork that I'd been looking forward to this unique Taco Bell location ever since it was announced! I came on something like their fifth day of operation, so bear in mind that they are likely to work out some kinks. In case you hadn't heard, this is a new facility concept, first of its kind, which has no indoor seating but FOUR drive-thru lanes. One of those lanes is basically a normal drive-thru lane where you place your order at a menu board station & then they hand it to you through a pick-up window. But the other three lanes are only for picking up orders placed on their smartphone app. And there is no face-to-face interaction in those lanes. When you place an order for this location, you get a QR code in the app. When you arrive at the first station in your car, you scan that code. Then you pull forward to a second station where there is a neat tube that they use to lower your food from above! You can't see any of the kitchen area stuff; it's all raised above street level and concealed behind windowless walls. But they speak to you over an intercom, and the tubular dumbwaiter works just fine. I came at mid-afternoon on a Sunday (again, their FIRST Sunday), and there were lots of cars wrangling for a place in line. Having prepared my order on the app in advance, it was 20 minutes between when I took my spot at the back of the queue of cars for the "MOBILE PICKUP" lanes and when my food came down the chute. My expectations were that, if indeed they architected this concept with the main goal of getting people in and out very efficiently, that it would have handled this amount of traffic a bit better than that. But if this many cars had been at my crappy local TB in St Paul, I think the staff would have just locked the doors and hid until everyone went away. My order included Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, but the parcel that descended so delicately from that mysterious floating kitchen-cave didn't include a fork. (Here I should note that I've HEARD there is a small lobby with a walk-up counter for a pedestrian takeout experience, and apparently I could have gone there to grab a fork.) Again, that seems like something where if you really want to be describing people's visit here in terms of seconds rather than minutes, you should make sure they have all their stuff. But let's see if they get better at that kind of thing. For now, if you want some Taco Bell and are in the area, the novelty might be enough for you to check it out!

Randomly decided to come here one night while on our way home from a friend's place up in BP. The food was just normal Taco Bell quality but the experience was kind of cool in a weird utopian feeling way because the whole time you don't really see anyone or experience any human interaction. We ordered on the app and it was super easy to just pull right up, scan our order barcode, and just proceed to the area where we got our food through a giant shoot.

Hello! I am back with another review, and not just any other review. One for the new Defy for Taco Bell, something we've planned to visit since starting this trip. We are big Taco Bell heads and enjoy each and every meal we order. Now for this new building, I encourage you to ignore your navigation the moment you see Taco Bell in your window make sure to turn literally when you see the gas station with Starbucks. Reason being, you will probably have a safe entry into this Taco Bell, second you won't have to wait to u-turn and then wait longer because you went in the wrong way. Now if you do turn in the wrong way and Taco Bell is on your right now, that's fine go down to the second entrance, road and it'll take you right back to the road that'll direct you to the building and getting you in line. I also suggest ordering before arriving, but sometimes the pick up/order here line will move faster than you. A reminder if you are planning to bring pets, then definitely go through the line. If you use pickup/mobile, watch the cars in front of you and how they do things. Reason why? You will be familiar with what to do before getting to the app catcher. Of course for all you newbies there will be a worker to walk you through the process. Watching the thing drop our order was the highlight of tonight, and probably made us enjoy this place some more. We plan on coming back, especially since we saved the place in our favorites. I hope one day they'll bring this to our area, it would help so much with always waiting on orders. Thank you for creating this amazing place and thank you to all workers doing extra duty for us. Y'all are amazing! Logging off your favorite blogger, onto the next.

As an avid Taco Bell goer, I was excited to visit this location! I went around 8 on a Monday evening and there was no line so can't speak to weekends or busier times but the service was great, staff were friendly and quick. And the food was top notch - no soggy potatoes in the cheesy fiestas, amply ingredients in tacos, and more! All I can ask for! Didn't get to use the cool drop down thing because we ordered there but will have to try it out next time. For sure something to check out!

the 3 different employees i spoke too all had attitudes, made us feel like we were the inconvenient ones when my order was wrong 3 different times. ended up just giving up and leaving with a messed up order. understand mistakes happen but learn customer service and lose the attitudes. sending multiple drinks down with no drink carrier is quite difficult when 99% of all vehicles have 2 cup holders. picture below is the dragonfruit freeze, as you can tell it's missing the actual dragon fruit syrup.

Always seem to be serving stale hard shells or hard chalupa bread. Also, they always seem to forget a taco.

Every time i call in or come to order, i would always ask to Please not cut my burritos..the stuff falls apart when a burrito is cut in half, and i hate that. I want my burrito intact and not all over me. I called into today and had my husband picked up our order, i repeat 3xs DON'T cut the burrito! Its either they really do not listen OR they did it on purpose. When i told the lady to please repeat back to not cut the burrito, she had replied with, "OK." My 4 year old couldn't eat her burrito because it was falling everywhere. Very disappointed that we come here every month and yet, they choose not to listen when all we ask for is, "DO NOT CUT THE BURRITO."

I love their orange blossom and anise sesame buns, pan de feria, and conchas. The chicharrones are always on the deli counter and you grab your own with some tongs. Tons of meat on them and a few minutes in the air fryer make the meat tender and the skin crispy. Haven't tried their hot bar or restaurant yet but I hope to soon.

The meat was really greasy, burnt, and there was a large bone in one of the tacos. Like I said, perhaps it was an off day, but it was a little off putting. Maybe I'd try again if I'm in the area.

There is actually a really pretty park across the street if you do want to take your food to go. The inside was very clean and put together. There isn't much for decor but it felt like your standard "hole in the wall" twin cities hispanic restaurant. Parking is free. The service here was terrific!! I felt like I was honestly apart of a family! I was check in on multiple times! My server was very polite and friendly! Very enjoyable! The food: I got pupusas (cheese) and they were soooo good! You can get these stuffed with beans and meat as well! I also got the quesabirria tacos! Now I have been to tons of places in the twin cities for quesabirria tacos and dare I say these are some of the best in the twin cities!!! Oh my goodness!! Absolutely delicious! And the consume had good flavor as well! Packed with meat and cheese! The salsas were excellent and had a great heat to them! Their horchata was also very refreshing and I would definitely recommend that as well! This is a smaller business with a great menu, friendly service and decent portion/price ratio!
