Delighted to have found this relatively cheap authentic-tasting Mexican food place near us. While the ambience is minimal, there is indoor seating and out and everything was nice and clean. The server was sweet and competent. Husband had the two taco special with rice and beans (chicken). I had the two tostadas special (steak). Love the provision of a salsa bar. The specials include drinks you can fill yourself. Our total came to $19.24 and we went away quite full. Will definitely try their nachos in the future. Grateful to Yelp for having reviewed this place favorably.
3.5 Randomly came across this place, outside doesn't look like much but it was cute inside. My good rating of this place it mostly due to the interior cleanliness, staff friendliness, and tacos. Otherwise, I personally wasn't a huge fan of the other food we ordered. Would say unique in content, but average in flavor at best. The chorizo tacos were my favorite. We also tried a few of their other menu items like the sopes and shrimp soup. I found the sope hard to eat, meaning it's going to get messy. The shrimp soup was unique, the flavor grew on me the more I ate it, I haven't really had a soup like that before. Oh, we also got the Chips and Salsa... I didn't enjoy those. I found the salsa to be too spicy and not to my taste, and the texture of the chips were not my favorite either. They were so thin that they cut the top of my mouth. Again, I enjoyed the tacos. If I came back I would like to try some of the other menu items as well. I wanted to like this place more than honestly did, I would definitely be up for coming again some time and trying some other things!
What a 180. Taco Bar has new management and a new chef and this place is ELITE now! For $7.99 I had 2 Al Pastor Tacos, Rice, and Beans. I would have been happy paying $25 for the quality of food I just ate. This place used to be quite average. It is now AMAZING! I highly suggest you try it out or give it another shot if you were like me and let down previously. Great job TACO BAR. You've come a long way'!
Holy Frijoles! I hit the Taco jackpot! I haven't had anything this good and authentic since I lived on the west coast and Los Tacos in NYC. Located on the border of Clearwater and Palm Harbor Just south of curlew on US19. This is a don't miss spot! A small eat in or to go joint with the best musica! This foodie is definitely smiling on Taco Tuesday and I'm scared for my waist line now that I found it. $7.99 lunch special 2 tacos rice and beans and a drink. The beans are authentic and delicioso! Do yourself a favor and try the Horchata, I think it's the best one I've had in my entire life. Their salsa bar even has the creamy cilantro salsa I love Tacos, Burritos, Tostadas, Quesadillas, beer and sangria etc I had the tacos asada and pastor and they did not disappoint!! HIGHLY recommend
I do like this place very much. A routine every time we fly into Tampa. Our first stop is always at the Taco Bar in Clearwater and after our meal, I always get the Tamales and an order of rice to go.
I was in the mood for Nachos tonight. I stopped at Taco Bar and was not disappointed one bit. The BEST Nachos I've had in a long time. The only negative thing I have to say is it was a bit hot in the dining area and to noisy to eat outside.
We decided to stop by for a late lunch on St. Patrick's Day because everywhere else around Clearwater was crowded. Initially I was concerned because it was completely empty. But luckily it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Decor: 5/5 stars It is a clean, trendy place that reminds me of Fresh Kitchen in South Tampa. The colorful menu is on the wall. We sat at the bar. There was only one employee there working the register and table which was odd to me. She also seemed odd: very timid, soft spoken and disinterested. I hope she's not the owner because I would hire someone more enthusiastic ASAP. Food: 3/5 stars 1. Chips and queso were the best thing we ordered. Reasonably priced at $3.75 2. Sopes: comes with 3 sopes and can order 3 different meats. I ordered chicken, pork and steak. The chicken was the best one. 3. Tacos: street style tacos. The closest authentic tacos you can get in this area if you don't want to trek to Polk County for authentic taco trucks. It's $2.99 per taco which is pricey but you get a lot of meat. Overall I have mixed feelings about this place. It's a cute place to try once but not memorable enough to make me come back.
Adorable inside ! Fast service , we had chicken tacos ( I thought the chicken was a little bland ) but they loaded them with such fresh Ingredients and Mexican cheese which was amazing ! We also had chips and queso and steak nachos that were delicious ! Last but not least tamales and street corn which were filled with great flavor ! We will for sure return to this hidden gem !
authentic food, had a hankering for an Elote (street corn) and def delivered.. great customer service. OMG their tortillas! home made FOR SURE bcus they're fluffy and not dry!
Taco Bar left much to be desired. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean but we were not impressed with the food or the price. We ordered Chips and Queso, Elote, Sopes and a Burrito. The chips and queso were fine, the queso is very loose but had pretty good flavor. The elote had an off putting taste that was nothing like what I have had in elote before, I was bummed because this is what I was most excited for - it was pretty foul tasting. The sopes were just awful, I got an assortment and the sope dough was so tough I could hardly chew through it - I ended up just eating the toppings like a salad but even so it was pretty flavorless. The burrito was the best tasting dish we ordered but it was still so mild in flavor that I wouldn't return just for this.

This was our 1st time eating at Taco Bar. Very pretty decor, spotless clean, and friendly staff! I ordered shrimp tamales, refried beans, and rice... There was no up charge for the shrimp! It came out hot and tasty. There was so much food. I had to take it home with me, which is a great thing. We will definitely come back to this establishment. Hopefully he will visit also. This was my 2nd visit to Taco Bar after many years and it's still a hit! The lunch special is 2 tacos, rice and beans for $8.99. Perfect amount of food. I got the streak taco and the pastor taco - both hard shells. Both were flavorful and filling. With the construction on US19, be careful not to miss the turn or you won't be able to turn around for awhile and get back to it. I hope they can stay in business once the new hwy is up and not close like all the other small businesses. read more

Another great experience at Taco Bar. I tried three tacos: carnitas, bistec and pastor. The carnitas was a little dry, to be honest, but the pastor was the ticket! It was super flavorful and juicy. Had to order the street corn and it was phenomenally cheesy. I love that they provide a lime for your beer and that little salsa bar is perfection! You'll fall in love with the clean modern design, too! - They originally used peanut oil in the fryer, which was a no-go for my allergic bf. Thankfully, we were told they now use vegetable oil! - Free chips and salsa after 5pm! - Their house salsa is SPICY, so be warned! Check out the fresh salsa bar for more mild options. - They have outside seating! It's with a view of US19, but at least they have it! I'd recommend adding some bushes there to create a buffer. read more

Great tacos! They use corn tortillas. The menu has a simple Mexican menu. They carry horchata. The shrimp taco is spicy. I ordered steak, pastor and campechano (steak and chorizo). $2 taco Wednesday! Any specials are a little more. My shrimp and campechsno was more than $2 but still pretty cheap. They offer crunchy taco too. Still need to try something other than tacos next time. They have lunch special with rice and beans. Good price. They serve beer and red sangria and margaritas. read more

This is a clean and modern interpretation of an authentic Mexican taco place. I'm used to holes in the wall when it's time to get the best tacos. Taco Bar is definitely not one of those! It's spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, has four wonderful sauces at the sauce bar, and offers beers for those that imbibe. Unfortunately, the meats we had were all a bit chewy and the guacamole, while fresh and tasty, had literally zero spice in it. I was hoping for many slivers of jalapeno to be hiding in there somewhere but no such luck! Based on the fact that most of the clientele seemed to be non-Mexican, I think they toned things down for the American palate. Finally, the tacos are $3 which is more than so many other authentic Mexican places in Tampa Bay. None of them are decorated like this place, have a sauce bar, or are on a major thoroughfare which explains the price difference. read more

I've driven past here before and not noticed that a new place had popped up after the Pizza joint moved out. The husbeast and I had one thing on our minds, a new eatery to try. So here's where we stopped. We entered and due to the set up, stood in line for a bit. When we got up to the register, we placed our order for : 2 drinks, 1 Elote, 1 Queso & Chips, 1 buritto and 1 tostada. We took a seat after I filled our drinks, and didn't wait more than 5-7 minutes for our food. Though we ordered appetizers, everything cam out at one time. The chips & cheese were excellent as was the Elote. I'd never had that before and now I'm in love. The burito was huge, and filled with everything - as that's what the husbeast ordered, and I got the marinated pork. The tostadas were crisp and thin, the meat was a bit on the smoky side, but once I added some queso to them, they were a bit more palitable. Over all, $30 for our meal was a decent price. We'd come back. read more

This is not a safe place to come during the Pandemic. Taco Bar does not enforce masks and allows patrons to come and go within their building without masks. food is really good but if they aren't adhering to county ordinances to keep citizens safe what else are they not following.... read more

This place was a nice surprise. Didn't know what to expect when I walked in. Thought Taco Bar might be a build your own taco place. It's not (There is a selection of beer though). Great food! I had the Burrito Suizo, my wife had the Enchiladas. Service was fast and friendly. Food came out quickly. Will be returning here soon! read more

Small taco place in Clearwater but they have good food and are reasonable. Came here on Tuesday and the special is $2 tostones. They have about 6 different kinds of meat to choose from. Ordered one of each In my top two favorites were steak and chicken. They have a salsa bar with four different types of salsas. Two of them are pretty spicy and two of them are not. Good price lunch meals for eight dollar combo's which includes an entrée a drink rice and beans. read more

We literally got thrown out of the place. This is downright the worse service we've ever had at a restaurant. Yelp, google, their website, and even the door said they closed at 9pm. We walk in at 7:40pm and the attendant (only one there btw, and had to wait like 5 minutes to be served, as was nowhere to be seen) takes our order and asks us "dine in or take out?" When I say dine in, he proceeds to say "well we close at 8". I state even the door says 9pm, to which he responds "oh, that's a new thing." He takes my payment and have to place the tip on the computer (before service). It takes about 10 mins to get our drinks and he brings out our chips and the kids food. He then comes back and tells me "we're closing can I pack the rest of your food to go and bring you to go containers for the kids. My kids are mid meal. I'm sitting there flabbergasted and had to say to him "are you really throwing us out???" He tells me "I have to talk to the manager about changing the hours online". To this I show him the decals on his door that says 9pm. This is the worse service in the world. I explained to him that the kitchen May close at 8, but if people are still eating and you took their done in order you can't just throw them out because you want to leave. That being said the food is good, at least my kids stuff was good. Have to go to the hotel and eat my food, probably cold and soggy later. Manager needs to address this ASAP. Wife is also a horchata lover and said their horchata tastes like soap. I actually thought it was good. read more

Monday's they have BOGO burritos (a tip I wish the girl working would of told me before we ordered). I ordered the tamales and a carnitas taco. The tamales were very good and had a lot of flavor, but should have been meatier. The taco was also very good. I loved their hot sauce bar - the cilantro jalapeño sauce was my favorite and was pretty spicy. All of the prices were very reasonable as well. We'll definitely come back for the BOGO burritos. I'm also going to try the Mexican street corn as well, I love elotes! read more

I'll skip the part where most people talk about everywhere they've eaten tacos, and therefore you should really take their advice. I'll keep it short and sweet and say this place is legit. Some of the best street style tacos I've had. I opted for a mix of Diablo shrimp and steak. Combine that with their house made sauces I had fun experimenting different mixes. I save 5 star reviews for top 3 ever type places. Taco Bar earned it. read more

This is my second maybe third time coming to here and my experience wasn't the best. I want to say COVID is the blame but idk, the server didn't seem to listen to my order so I had to send my food back. I didn't order two additional tacos but I'm pretty sure I paid for them so I ate them anyway. The steak wasn't seasoned at al! it tasted really bland as well as the rice and beans, also the tamale was dry. read more
