We've passed by this shop over a few dozen times over the years & decided to give it a go. The items are handmade from the Koa tree that is found in Hawaii. There are pens, jewelry, bags/purses, wallets, key chains, cutlery, ornaments, vases, kitchen items & other curious artwork displayed for sale. Candace was manning the shop & she was so friendly & welcoming. She even suggested a lady who might be able to create what we're looking for. This lady works from home & has a website (Tropical Isle Music). I love to support local businesses & Candace was so charming, I bought a couple of Aloha Hula girl ornaments & a pineapple (see photo) ornament. There's a few spaces for parking that it shares with Mankoa & a granola shack. It was lovely speaking with Candace, who I learned is actually half Filipino & half Japanese, born & raised in Kaua'i. Her grandfather was one of the first Filipinos who arrived from the Philippines to work in the plantations in Hawaii. It's always interesting to learn about people & their heritage. I'm very pleased with the experience & my purchases at this shop

As a guide he is knowledgeable, accommodating, and dedicated to making your experience memorable. As a person, he is kind, friendly, and engaging. Dennis spent a long day taking us all over the island, showing us not only the well known sights, but also many sights that only a local would know about. And as a very talented photographer, he helped us capture our memories both with his camera and our own. He coached my wife, a talented photographer in her own right, to compose photos of the beautiful scenery that we will enjoy for years to come. He even provided us with a USB of all the photos he took that day, including many family shots that I'm sure will be featured on our Christmas card this year! Thank you Dennis. We left Kauai with a wonderful experience, great memories, an appreciation of the island's history and people, and best of all....a friend for life.

Although small, the Kauai Museum is densely packed with exhibits and history. At the time we…read morevisited, the entrance fee was good for 2 visits as long as the second one was within a week of the first. It covers the archaeology, anthropology, culture, as well as the history of the island. When I later saw the TV Series 'Chief of War', I really appreciated the series much more than had I not visited the museum first especially the story of Kamehameha in the show who unified the Hawaiian Islands and figures prominently in the museum. You can also tour the museum using augmented reality on your smartphone or tablet, but unfortunately, it wasn't working at the time we visited.

A plug in would help although it's better not to eat in the lobby area. I noticed tables and chairs outside that can be utilized if no employee lounge is available. Perhaps the inattentive staff could spend time dusting while simultaneously droning on about childhood hardship? Just an idea. Even volunteers can be fired. The Artists deserve better and so do potential customers. We were hoping to find a piece and were very disappointed in the ambiance .
