I had the steak Diane sandwich, and at the very first bite, I could not put it down. I literally finished the sandwich in 5 mins!! The steak was made perfectly, pink, tender, moist and the most flavor!! The bread perfectly toasted, the cheese pristinely melted so every bite had that ooey gooey stretch to it! For the sides tried their Cole slaw which is probably the best I've ever eaten. It had edamame in it, the slaw was a nice flavor of sweet and savory and wasn't overpowered by the mayo. I could eat the slaw with everything! Also tried their tomato soup turkey chili---sooo good!! If I didn't know better, I wouldn't have known it was turkey because it was very flavorful. Only thing I would add to make that over the top special would be to add some extra raw onions. The fish and chips sandwich was delicious! So crispy, light and crunchy with the coleslaw to make it perfect! Of course, paired with their home made chips that I dipped in everything! Soooo perfect! Presently was beautiful, everything came out in less than 10 mins, the service quick and easy. Definitely recommend to everyone and will be a frequent flier here!

The side dish of the chili made it a great combination. As for the dessert, four Oreo cookies that were battered and deep fried with powdered sugar and Ghirardelli chocolate made this wholesome meal one of the best I had in awhile! Let just start with Cricca's Deli makes some seriously well-crafted sandwiches. You have several choices of bread, and I went with the soft roll, which tasted bakery-fresh and was the perfect match for the sandwich. The large subs are truly large -- easily big enough to share between two people. If you're looking for a deli sandwich made with fresh ingredients and generous portions, Cricca's is definitely worth a visit. We came during the daytime for lunch but the owner told us it gets lively at nighttime with fun music. We ordered an order of beef arais and ribeye. We got four pieces of arais per order and it comes with a small side salad. We also got a big cucumber salad on the side too. The arais were absolutely delicious and totally reminds me of what I had in Israel. I liked the ribeye slightly better than the beef but both were juicy and delicious. They were hot and fresh so you have to wait a bit for them to cool down and I recommend smothering them with the chimichurri and the tahini spread. They were so good! And they're filling too, it's great for sharing. We can't wait to come back!

Once in a while, one gets to step into a restaurant that has the ability to whisk them right back…read moreto childhood memories; a foreign place; sounds of a market; and the equivalent of a culinary trip on the spice Trail. Arais Machne Yehuda his one such place. Living up to its namesake, the Machne Yehuda market in Jerusalem, made famous, not only for its colorful stalls and sellers, but also for the outstanding food one can get at the market. But in order to pull that off, you need the perfect storm of the following ingredients: caring, sensitive, owners who treat you like a household guest. Culinary wizards who understand their ingredients and know how to make the best out of them. Appreciative crowd, who knows good food. Period. When all these come together, what you get is a touch of magic. And Arais is exactly that. A touch of magic on Ventura Boulevard. Let's talk some of the ingredients. The warm chickpeas (hummus) that came to the table, at a perfect temperature, and with just a hint of lemon, were the ABSOLUTE BEST chickpeas I had anywhere outside of Jerusalem. I don't say this lightly. Most Mediterranean, restaurants and almost all Israeli restaurants pride themselves on their chickpea preparations. There's a saying in Israel that Israel will forever argue about which chickpeas are the best, which chickpeas make the best dish, which preparation of chickpeas is better than the others. Basically Israeli's lives revolve around evaluating chickpeas. So by telling you, this was the best I've had outside of Jerusalem, what I'm really trying to say is that these weren't "good chickpeas for Tarzana", but rather some of the best anywhere in the world! And that was just the side dish! The formula is a known one. Take acidic vegetables as a side dish, mix them with rich and fatty meat dishes, where the acid of the vegetables in the pickles cuts through the richness; couple that with side dishes, where each dish adds to the overall experience; and what you get is exactly that magic that I told you about earlier on. When you mix that with knowledgeable owners and and welcoming atmosphere, what you get is a short trip to far away lands. Arais Machne Yehuda on every chord. If I have one single comment, and trust me that taking into account, the totality of the experience that was amazing, I would tell you that the pita bread that the Arais came in, was a bit salty. I let the owners know my dislike of tahini, something that has cost me relationships, and has earned me the jeers of many an Israeli; but they insisted time and time again that maybe I should try it "just this time". I explained that once every five years I do in fact, try tahini just to find out that I still don't like it, but my words fell on deaf ears. And you know what? They were right. Both the tahini and chimichurri sauces were perfect accompaniment for the rich lamb meatballs, nestled in the pitas. I was expecting a little bit more heat and the chimichurri to complement the tangy and oily taste emanating from good olive oil and chopped herbs. But alas, the heat came from the deep-fried jalapeños that I had on the side. The look on one of the owners faces when I ate six of them in a row and then proclaimed they were "mild", was priceless. Since this was my first time there, I also got fat chunks of deep fried and then roasted potatoes, a perfect accompaniment to the already rich meal. I highly recommend this Mediterranean/Israeli gem in the heart of Tarzana. If you're ever looking for Israeli food, this, my friends, is it!

I am writing as a longtime and loyal customer regarding a deeply disappointing experience involving…read morethe purchase of what was represented and sold as meat knishes from your store. My husband purchased several knishes from Mort's Deli. We understood these to be meat knishes based upon how they were described and priced. After bringing them home and cutting them open, we discovered that they were not true meat knishes, but rather potato-and-meat knishes. Had the product been accurately described, we would not have purchased it. We specifically sought meat knishes and paid the corresponding price (see the receipts attached). When I contacted the store to address the issue, employee Kate maintained that the potato-and-meat knish should nevertheless be considered a meat knish. Regardless of the terminology used internally by the store, the product was not what we reasonably understood we were purchasing. The situation became even more troubling when I repeatedly requested copies of the receipts. During the course of the dispute, I was informed that the receipts were not accessible. However, the receipts were ultimately produced and later emailed to me as ordered by the police. Notably, the receipts explicitly identified the product as a "Brisket Knish" and reflected the corresponding charge. The receipts therefore became an important part of understanding how the product had been represented and sold. Rather than resolving the matter promptly and professionally, manager Gail continued to escalate the situation unnecessarily. Ultimately, Gail instigated the calling of law enforcement to the store. Two police officers responded to the scene. Following their investigation, the store was ordered by the police to produce the receipts. The police officers became involved in what should have been a routine customer-service matter. With their assistance, the receipts were eventually produced after previously being misrepresented as inaccessible. What makes this experience particularly upsetting is that my husband is severely disabled, partially paralyzed, and walks with a cane. What should have been a simple request for fair treatment escalated into an unnecessary confrontation involving law enforcement. The needless inconvenience, travel, physical burden, and emotional distress inflicted upon both my husband and me were unfair and unjustifiable. As loyal customers, we found the entire experience shocking and disturbing. We sent the store owner an email detailing the incident but the owner never responded.

My daughter gave birth at Tarazana Hospital on July 9, and she and the family were looking forward to burgers. I ordered through DoorDash for five people: two vegans and three carnivores. The order was for two vegan burgers, three different non-vegan burgers with fries, and three shakes. The total with delivery was over $160. When the delivery arrived, nothing in the bags was labeled, and we couldn't figure out which burger was which. My son-in-law had to bite into the burgers to identify them. There were no condiments or napkins included, and the burgers were cold and dry. Additionally, two orders of cheese fries were included that we did not order. I believe it is the restaurant's responsibility to ensure condiments and napkins are packed, to clearly label multiple items, and to ensure food is hot when it leaves the restaurant, especially since the hospital is less than a block away.
