The store is very coastally cute with nautical items, an abundance of Cape Charles branded items and the little trinkets I remember obligatory buying for friends and family when I went on vacation without them. However, make no mistake, not everything in here is kitschy. If the vibe in your home is nautical, they have a huge selection of kitchen wares, decor, candles and more that go with that theme. It can be easy to get swept away in that feeling (no pun intended) In the back of the store, they have a fairly large toy section which is going to delight the heck out of any kid! Overall, this shop is very sweet and a worthy stop on your stroll through Cape Charles. It's on the main downtown block in Cape Charles, surrounded by other sweet local businesses. My boyfriend grudgingly stops here, but stays in the car. I, on the other hand, gleefully jump out and head on in. To my delight, there are three couples walking around the gift shop. One couple starts perusing the huge selection of fireworks. The other two couples hovered over the bags of cured bacon sold by the pound (pre-packaged). Intrigued, I too, hover on over to hear what the nice store lady had to say. Seems like this bacon is a big hit in the area. Two couples each walked out with 5-6 bags of it. The other couple and I purchase one (mine was 1.15 lbs for around $10). Looking forward to tossing some of it with pasta, and enjoying it with eggs for breakfast. Oh, and I got a 20 fl. oz. bottle of diet coke for a buck. Woohoo!! Note: this ain't no fancy gift shop. This is just a fun road side joint selling items from bacon to fireworks (to belly lint brushes). Enjoy!

It didn't have a price so I asked a second young lady, "How much?". She acted as though I was bothering her when she came over, looked at it, told me the price (without making any eye contact), and then went back behind the counter. That's when I noticed the first young lady, that was previously at the earrings, went behind the counter. The bell went off in my head, "oh she works here." It was at that moment, I said, "Let's go!" I realized they were both being rude and possibly didn't want "me" in the store. I was going to keep it to myself, but my friend said, "Wow she was rude." Despite the risks associated with buying second-hand clothes, I have supported consignment owners in the DC, MD, and VA area for almost 40 years. Recently, I purchased a pair of leopard boots from Double Take, only to have the soles come off on both boots while I was wearing them the next day. I informed the sales assistant, Ryan, about the incident, not asking for a refund but only to ensure that the store would be aware of the situation and take precautions to prevent future customers from having a similar experience. The store owner, Jo, offered to split the repair cost when the sales assistant informed her of the incident. I was grateful for this kind gesture and submitted the receipt to the store. However, over the next few months, I repeatedly followed up with Ryan, who promised to contact the owner, but never received any response. When I finally spoke with Jo, she denied ever offering to split the repair cost and became dismissive, even though I had no intention of asking for any compensation. I was disappointed and offended by her disrespectful behavior, which caused me to lose faith in Double Take after many years of loyalty. As a result, I have decided to take my business to a different consignment store, Worth the Wait in Virginia Beach where customers are treated with respect and the owner demonstrates excellent customer service.
