I used to be a frequent shopper here when I had to wear suits daily and traveled to the burg often. They still carry the top quality brands such as Barbour, Burberry, Duck Head and others, even the salesman is a legend having worked at the shop since the 1980's. I was looking for some trousers and recalled they carried Bill's Kakis. I tried on a pair that was from the same manufacturer. A 36/34 was a perfect fit on the waist, but needed the length taken in. They still offer free in-house tailoring services. The no pressure sales makes purchases easy. The gentlemen working the shop no the business inside and out. Due to the fact everything they carry is quality materials with exceptional services they are pricey. In my opinion worth the price point. It's literally impossible to find these shops. They will mail your alterations for a fee, or you need to do in store pick up. Turn around is typically within the same week. However, if a rush is needed let them know. Recently I had the opportunity to visit the square that's nestled between The College of William & Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. During Christmas is one of my favorite times to visit this area. It was hoping too! Crowds were beginning to arrive in Williamsburg for The Grand Illumination the next day. There was music, and a Christmas spirit in the cool crisp air. I visited a few shops that I had time for that were both favorites and new to me. The Cheese Shop for a snack. This shop has been a place I have frequented for decades, it's awesome and an independent run store like most others. I went to R. Bryant, a men's store. Lulu lemon, Danforth Pewter and a new shop Walkabout Outfitters which is a small chain. It replaced a very well known and established independent store I shopped since early 2000. If you're looking for a unique place to shop, eat and also take in a show at the Kimball Theater then Merchants is the place.

The store is always clean and everything nicely folded and the dressing rooms are spacious. With is help, he has introduced me into some excellent brands and helped me find some outstanding outfits and has done a lot to help me understand how things should fit. I've been to too many places that have told me that ill fitting clothing looked great, when in fact it did not. Ulysses will let you know when something isn't quite right as he wants you to look your best. When asked he has also pointed me to some excellent resources for me to learn more on the subject on how to dress like an adult. 2) The brands you will find at this store are not what you will find at your department store. That is because the brands here are a much better in fit, finish, and materials than what you will find elsewhere. 3) While the prices are a bit high, you are buying an item that is of much better quality material and finish. So dropping in usually ends in a sale off the sale rack for my husband and the other reason is that their original alterations employee hemmed clothes to make them look like they would after purchasing the clothes directly off the rack, which makes my very hard to fit husband look like a million bucks, business man become styling and profiling! And when your meeting that client for the first time, and as well all know, first impressions is what counts the most! Another thing that I love about this place, it's a small family owned business that's been around for over 100 years, so their motto is that the customer always comes first!
