This is a Michelin ***. My review is obviously superfluous, but anyways…read more.. This is top-caliber food. Some particularly impressive appetizers included the cod bun (super intense fish flavor without being fishy), the appetizer meat stock, the bread service (perhaps the best pita I've ever had, and the most crunchy croissant I've had in years). Among the main dishes, the beluga lentils were super rich in flavor, the sea bass was cooked perfectly with some perfectly crispy skin, and I didn't even know almonds could be pickled. Unlike at the last *** I went to, there were no dishes that left me entirely confused, although some flavors were still unfamiliar in a good way. My dining companions liked their wine tasting, which I didn't try. My only complaint would be that despite the historical posturing of the menu/performance art, the service was aloof enough that we weren't always entirely sure what we were eating. Unlike at Scandinavian ***s, the servers aren't especially chatty, so while the food was delicious, I'm not sure I fully appreciated the historical project.

I should start by saying I was very enthusiastic and excited to come to Noor (high expectations) as…read moreI like the style and flavors of north Africa and southern Spain more then anywhere else in the world. Ohhhh man was it dissapointing... Three stars??? Aside from some superb wines--What am I missing? The expereince starts with a hand washing "ritual" they poor some water over your hands essentially... awkward. For me this was rather gimmicky and strange, as was the little board timeline thing which was ultimately irrelevant to the wide ranging ingredients used throughout. The english used at reception and at times throughout the meal was so rehersed it felt uncomfortable and unnatural. As this is spain I can forgive that. I was the first guest to enter the restaurant. As I sat alone in a still and nearly silent room the entire service team and kitchen gawked at me as I waited uncomfortably for the experience to begin. The menu was so unmemorable I cant even recall most of the first dishes, a little tuna bite no better than an average sushi joint. A mildly flavored rosemary soup of some kind that totally missed. There were two maybe even three savory dishes with some frozen element which has been a big fad recently and I heavily disliked them. Maybe thats personal preference but it was not working. After leaving I literally went and ate a whole bocadillo con morcilla and an ice cream cone haha, which was better than both deserts combined. I was very hungry arriving and left feeling as though I had mainly filled up on bread. Which they serve three different styles without butter or olive oil. The breads are good but they are not good enough to stand up without some accompaniment. The bread and butter at Bardal for instance was insanely good. A simple thing like that can work but not when your bread is meh. The Fish entree with spinach was probably the best of the dishes but nothing was great. I have been to many one star places with better food. Ultimately I was very dissapointed. I have no clue how this gets 3 stars and Bardal has two. They are not even the same league of quality in my mind.
