Super close to the synagogue in Córdoba's Jewish Quarter; this lovely courtyard serves seasonal Jewish tasting menus as well as a very reasonably-priced a la carte menu. We came here for a light lunch, which was *delicious*. Their baba ganoush (eggplant pate w black sesame) paired with fig crisps was so flavorful and their unique 'reinvention of hummus' dish with three different flavors was indeed the best hummus we've ever had. The couscous was also very unique with incredibly finely shredded duck. Simply great food in a beautiful, airy environment. Dined: September 10, 2022

The best meal I've had in Andalucia! Its a bit hidden and the decor is very unassuming, so don't come here for the decor, come for the warm service and amazing Sephardic cuisine. It was so hard to decide what to have. We started with zucchini carpaccio, then had couscous with duck and chicken with curry, pomegranates, and pineapple. Dessert was heavenly orange ice cream with olive oil drizzled on top. Do not miss out. Find Casa Mazal.

After touring the synagogue and Sephardic museum, we happened upon Casa Mazal after reading about it in wikitravel. The restaurant is set in a beautiful, shaded courtyard. The staff was welcoming. We were the first to arrive in the restaurant for the day but it soon filled up. I heard every single table ask what salmorejo was (it is the first appetizer on the menu) so a description in English might be helpful (it is a cold creamy puree). The bread basket included MATZAH, no joke!!! It also was accompanied by olive tapenade, a nice surprise. I started with a glass of rose (and probably had at least one more). Eric R. got the Sephardic soup with lamb as a starter. It was honestly too thick for a soup, so skip this. Eric R. got the chicken curry with pomegranate seeds, mushrooms, pineapple, and potatoes. It was very good. I ordered an off-the-menu special, duck confit with cous cous and a hearty broth on the side. it was a very tasty meal and overall quite enjoyable. I suggest making this a lunch stop when in Cordoba!

Hidden at the end of a small alley, with a nice courtyard for outside eating, protected by a sunsail, with nice atmosphere and interior. We had falafel and couscous with chicken and can recommend both.

Best meal we have had in Spain. Casa Mazal was wonderful. My husband and I ate here last night for dinner. You have to try the fried eggplant and orange ice cream with olive oil, absolutely amazing. The service was fantastic and to top it off, we sat outside and listened to a fabulous Spanish guitarist. It was the perfect evening.

Great, great, and great. Everything was fantastic. The salmorejo, the couscous harissa chicken and Seneca cake with Nutella. Spanish guitar brilliantly played throughout the meal was the perfect complement. Friendly staff, courteous and kind. I think I will come again tomorrow evening for dinner before I leave town.

Love it! Lots of unexpected taste combinations, a very good vibe of the place, helpful staff

This restaurant is a great place to end an exploration of the Jewish quarters with. There is a beautiful courtyard in which to eat, as well as a great upper seating area that overlooks the central courtyard. The bread basket is delicious and unique. The rolls were hot and fresh out of the oven! We got the hummus which was honestly a little mediocre (and we had to order more bread to eat with it, because it was only served with maybe 10 carrot sticks). The zucchini salad was to die for though!!! Beautiful, refreshing, and delicious.

Surprised to find such delicious Sephardic food in such a great atmosphere in the middle of old Córdoba. Freshness and proper spices is the key to culinary success. Family owed and operated.

Wow this place is so good! Had the curry chicken with pineapple and pomegranate. Very delicious. If you want something outside of the Spanish Tapas, this is the place to go. Highly recommend.

Food and ambiance was great. Didn't realize prime lunch time is 2-4pm. We came in at 12:30. They served us anyway.

Food, wine, service are spectacular. One must remember that Spanish lunches are long, so don't expect immediate immediate service.

Once inside, the atmosphere was very pleasant, having been seated in a large, open atrium with ornate carved stone walls and doorways. We asked for a large bottle of sparkling water but were told that they only had small bottles at €2.50 a pop. Small bottles mean more profit for the business but are inconvenient and more expensive for customers. We started with a bottle of the Speak of Silence /Extremadura, a dark red wine made with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tempranillo grapes. At €22 it was a decent value (average price = €19) with a 4.1 / 5.0 rating on Vivino and rated one of the top 2% of wines in the world. It was good, but I am not sure about the top 2% claim. We ordered and shared several dishes, so I will elaborate here: - Mixed Salad with Tomato Vinaigrette (€6.10): Nothing special, just an overpriced salad - Cordoban Salmorejo (€5.10): A local cold tomato soup emulsified with olive oil, Iberian ham, and egg, it probably would have been better warm or hot. It was tasty, but different, not something I would order again. - Cordoban Flamenquin (€14.75): Another local dish, pork loin stuffed with ham, breaded, and fried. It was good but a bit dry so I dribbled some sauce from the oxtail on top. It would have been better with an accompanying sauce, but then it would not be Cordoban. - Cordoba-style Oxtail (€13.95): Two small knuckles with barely any meat and eight small french fries scattered on top. The sauce was good and what meat that was there tender, but €13.95 for four or five mouthfuls? Definitely NOT a TravelValue. - Solomillo Boletus (€19.25): Iberian pork tenderloin topped with a mushroom sauce, it was delicious, but €20 seems a tad high for a few pieces of pork and a smattering of fries. Our server, Jose Rey, was professional and attentive and we were very pleased with his service. Another thing I did not like was the coercion to submit a 5-star review at the end of the meal. We were handed a card stating Ïf you don't like something, say it here¨but ¨Ïf you liked something, say it outside¨. I tell it like it is, so I do not appreciate being coached on what to submit in my reviews. The meal was good and the experience pleasant, but the few shortfalls we experienced kept me from giving them one of my top ratings.
