I have been eyeballing this place to come to for quite some time now. Like a long time. I got a wild hair and decided to come. Well, I am not disappointed at all. There is a discount for military and Veterans and for people of a certain age. You start learning the history of the area, and how it came to be populated.  This island is on top of a salt mine, and it is evidently very beneficial to growing of peppers, and if the popularity of Tabasco is any clue, it is beneficial to hot sauce. I never really realized the whole process it takes to make this sauce, but I guess that is the reason for this tour. It is very informative, and I am glad that it is self-paced, otherwise it might be overwhelming. The tour covers several buildings and is self-guided with information placards to let you know what you are looking at, which is nice. I never realized just how many different flavors of Tabasco there were. Simply amazing. And Tabasco chocolate? A bit too tangy for me, but my dad loved it. I would suggest this for anyone, lover of hot sauce or not. The price of admission also covers admission to the jungles, which I would suggest visiting as well. All in all, a very lovely day. read more

This was a great place. The museum was confusing and not organized but it was really cool. The restaurant had the best food I have had so far. Yum. The service was okay there wasn't much you needed people for. The ticketing was also confusing they need to figure something else out. We bought ours at jungle gardens gift shop. Skip the jungle gardens. Do the Tabasco it is very fun. Hope this helps. read more

It's got a special place in my heart, no doubt, but don't let that mar your decision on how freaking wonderful this little gift shop is. Anything (and I do mean anything)Tabasco related you want you'll find it here for about half off of what you'll get it for in any grocery store in Louisiana. Tabasco pickles? Check. Tabasco mayo? Check. Tabasco green beans? Check. Bloody Mary mix, chili sauce, aprons, dishes...even earrings...for hot sauce sakes. You'll find it here. It's wonderfully affordable and the only place you can purchase the family reserve version of Tabasco hot sauce. (Aged eight years in oak barrels and hotter than hotttt) Yum. If you're one of those terrorist sympathizers who likes Crystal instead of Tabasco, you can stop reading now. Ok. You've been warned. This store is is a Tabasco lovers heaven. Not only do they have all the Tabasco branded merchandise, they stock every variety of Tabasco. That's right. Every variety of Tabasco can be sampled and purchased here. The store is located on Avery Island ($2 toll through your passenger window) next to the bottling plant. The tour is OK, but the main reason to visit is the store itself. The store will probably be packed with tourists hoping to find that perfect Cajun gift for their friends back home, but ignore them. Walk all the way to the back right, grab a pretzel stick and start sampling. Once you've found your favorite, but as much as your car will hold. Prices are much cheaper than in grocery stores, plus they have more variety. On my last trip I bought $40 worth and got: 1 bottle of reserve (hotter and more flavor) 2 bottles of chipotle (absolutely amazing. One bottle lasted one day) 1 bottle of Buffalo (pretty good) 1 bottle of habanero (holy crap it's hot) 2 bottles of Siracha (best on the market) 1 NFL suveneir bottle I'm hopeful my haul lasts me a little while, but when I run out I'll head back to the store and stock up again. read more

Tabasco must have been bought by foreigners because they do not accept American cash and forces you to buy on credit at their factory, gift shop and restaurant . I do not buy things on credit when i have cash in my pocket. This is so Un-American and i swear that i will never buy another Tabasco product or items. I swear that i will never visit your factory or Jungle Gardens again. The employees in the Jungle garden gift shop were very rude and i felt i was interrupting their personal phone calls. This place is like Heaven, but super flaming hot... Wait a second... As a Tabasco lover, I love coming to this shop. They've got everything you would ever need stamped with the Tabasco logo. The best thing about this place is the fact that you can sample every single thing that Tabasco sells. That includes ice creams. Yes, more than one type of Tabasco flavored ice cream. They offer pretzels so you can help yourself to all the different flavors. Your mouth will be zinging as you go through the store. They always have some sort of sale going on, and have stuff for fairly cheap in the back of the store. I managed to get my hands on a bottle of Tabasco Reserve, which is the cream of the crop family reserve brand of the hot sauce. I've never seen it for sale anywhere else but here. read more

Well Charley C. Pretty much covered everything this place has to offer in his wonderful yelp review. This is simply a little country store on Avery Island, in which you have to pay a buck to enter. No worries. There is a little food truck outside that sells Cajun dishes such as Crawfish Etoufee, Boudin, Messy Mac..... At pretty reasonable prices.... Now the stuff for sale inside the store is pretty cool, but I would say a tad on the steep side..... Some if the items just seemed drastically over priced. Either way it was fun, tasting the Tabasco Jalapeño Ice Cream & Tabasco Raspberry Chipotle Ice Cream, Tabasco flavored soda... The list goes on....I picked up a few items I can't usually find back home like the Tabasco Jelly and Raspberry Chipotle Tabasco Sauce... I also brought home a lot if creative ideas. The cashier was very friendly and nice, the employees were very knowledgeable and taught us a lot. Was pretty stoked they gave us a jar of Tabasco flavored mayonnaise. Overall a nice day. read more

This is a really neat store with everything Tabasco. Tons of samples with all sort of interesting / weird Tabasco flavors and products including ice cream and Coke. Some stuff seems to be at a discount to a standard store while other products are equal or slightly higher. As there is not much down this way you can also grab lunch with a limited menu. We went on a slow Saturday not a lot was going on, but still fun. This visit was much more worth the stop than the jungle tour. read more

This is the Gift Shop of the Avery Island Tabasco Sauce Factory and they have a lot of Tabasco themed items such as a huge selection of t-shirts and then just about anything else you could think of Tabasco and Louisiana themed up. They also offer every variety of Tabasco Sauce you have seen and a few you probably haven't seen along with offering tastings of them. This is certainly a must stop when doing the tour of the factory and you also probably want to stop next door for some food at the Tabasco Restaurant 1896. There is another gift store for the Jungle Garden but this one offered a lot more to choose from. read more

The store here is wonderful! They sell more than just the Tabasco hot sauces. They have lots of home goods, toys, pantry items, and decor. You could find gifts for anyone here. You also can sample their goods! When I was there, I got to sample the ice cream with green Tabasco, Tabasco and Coca-Cola, and try the barbecue sauces. This is worth the trip. read more

Not only learned about the process of growing the peppers, making the mash, sauce, and the aging process but also learned about the local people who have and "still do" work there. If you're into Tabasco, then this is the place for you!! The Tabasco Reserve is the greatest. Come in and get your bottle...or two or three. The folks are nice, and the times I've been in, they have "thrown in" an extra item or two FREE!! Overall...A super place to stop and take a break. Get your Tabasco tie here. Agree, if you are at the Tabasco farm, you should try a snack here. Nice opportunity to try a variety of tobasco sauces and eat on the island. The food, well, cheap, lower quality and not special. More like what you would find at an amazing amusement park... but again, if you are there for the nostalgia and atmosphere, you'll enjoy it as we did. read more

The factory tour was closed. But we still enjoyed the visit to the property and the store. We are big fans of Tabasco in all its forms. So it was cool to try the different kinds of tabasco (oh the jalapeno jelly is to die-for) and the sweet and spicy and jalapeno icecreams. Every icecream maker should adopt this recipe. OMG! Overall, it was a great experience and we would love come back for a full tour at some point. read more

The gift shop is definitely the best part of the entire Tabasco experience. The factory tour may be more of a one time thing, but I wouldn't mind visiting the gift shop again. They have samples everywhere! We got to try tons of different Tabasco sauces (they have pretzel sticks for you to use) including Tabasco mayo and Tabasco jellies! You'd be surprised how good the jellies are. I didn't think I would like them, but I ended up getting a couple for myself and as gifts. They're only $3 a jar and it seems like it's the best deal in the entire gift shop. They also have Tabasco soda and ice cream - although I don't think you can purchase those. All in all, it was a really fun visit. On top of my purchases, they added in a free jar of Tabasco olives! All my friends got one in their bags as well - they give them out when you buy anything from their store. read more

As a fan of Chipotle tobasco, I wanted to stop by and pick up a few souvenirs for my friends back home. There were a lot of novelty tobasco items to sample. Every time I turned around, I felt that my boyfriend had something new in his hands that he wanted me to try. I really just wanted items that I could bring on the airplane in my carry on luggage, quick and easy. However, despite walking around countless times, a lot of items weren't gifts I would be proud to give. I ultimately just settled on plain ol' tobasco sauce. read more

Great place to shop for your tabasco products. Retail price is okay but there is a caveat: SHIPPING! Their shipping rates are OUTRAGEOUS. I tried to purchase a 5oz bottle of Scorpion sauce and it was $8 then they tried to tack $12 on for shipping. Nope. Not gonna happen. The only other fail is that they have no customer service so they don't respond to inquiries. read more
