You can find so many different things here! They let you try different samples of the different flavors of the Tabasco sauce. As well as Tabasco ice cream and soda. You can buy gallons of the sauce or bottles. They have gift sets and food and clothes. Cooking supplies and cookbooks!! It's a great store to get gifts for people!

Well Charley C. Pretty much covered everything this place has to offer in his wonderful yelp review. This is simply a little country store on Avery Island, in which you have to pay a buck to enter. No worries. There is a little food truck outside that sells Cajun dishes such as Crawfish Etoufee, Boudin, Messy Mac..... At pretty reasonable prices.... Now the stuff for sale inside the store is pretty cool, but I would say a tad on the steep side..... Some if the items just seemed drastically over priced. Either way it was fun, tasting the Tabasco Jalapeño Ice Cream & Tabasco Raspberry Chipotle Ice Cream, Tabasco flavored soda... The list goes on....I picked up a few items I can't usually find back home like the Tabasco Jelly and Raspberry Chipotle Tabasco Sauce... I also brought home a lot if creative ideas. The cashier was very friendly and nice, the employees were very knowledgeable and taught us a lot. Was pretty stoked they gave us a jar of Tabasco flavored mayonnaise. Overall a nice day.

Agree, if you are at the Tabasco farm, you should try a snack here. Nice opportunity to try a variety of tobasco sauces and eat on the island. The food, well, cheap, lower quality and not special. More like what you would find at an amazing amusement park... but again, if you are there for the nostalgia and atmosphere, you'll enjoy it as we did.

The French fries were good, but do NOT get the crab cake! I was under the erroneous assumption…read morethat seafood sold near the water/or the coast would be good or better than than sold inland, so I was looking forward to having a crabcake. At $10 a crab cake, I was expecting something half-way decent. It was very small. That was okay, as long as it was decent. I took a small bite. Well, it wasn't even that. It was a sloppy fried cake of seasoned flour paste with MAYBE a teaspoon of crab dispersed within the entire cake. The line was 20-people deep, so I couldn't return it right away. I just wanted to get a refund on the cake, and order something else, like French fries instead (that would be safe). The girl told me she couldn't give me a refund since I "ate on it". I told her, how would I know it was bad if I couldn't taste it? (AND it tasted like cheese, and had the texture of melted cheese). Well, the girl at the counter took it to the manager, who gave me fries instead lieu of a credit. I'm so sorry I didn't take a picture, I forgot all about Yelp, and wasn't thinking. I'm so glad there is this venue to vent to. Oh, by the way, we ordered two taps waters, and was told they only sold bottled water. My bf said, okay, give us that. When we sat down, he handed me a drink cup. I said, where's my water? He said, this is what she gave me. I looked at the receipt, and it had 1 bottle water ($2.50) and one fountain drink ($4.00). So be prepared to be "uncharged", and look at your receipt before you walk away. I let that slide because it wasn't worth the trouble to return the cup and get a water instead, but I really wanted to return the crab cake because it was that much of a disappointment. If you want a decent breaded crab cake, go to Prejeans in Carrot (I know I didn't spell that right) Cove. If you want a crab cake made of crab, try Truluck's in Houston.

Tips & Ideas: * If I do it again, I'll go early in the morning when it's fresh and not so humid, drive around the gardens, and walk to take pictures. * Keep in mind: the store, museum, and restaurant close around 4p.m., but the gardens stay open, so you can always come back and relax in one of the many safe seating areas. * Coffee is free until 12p.m. * Bonus idea: download the Tabasco app for a guided voice tour you're welcome Highly recommend for a casual lunch and a taste of Tabasco history! We used to love driving here for the ride to get great boudin and spend a couple hundred dollars. Being disappointed, I called and spoke to one of the owners about my "crawfish" boudin and asked if they were experiencing a drought with their crawfish. He replied, no and that they actually put more crawfish in their boudin this time. I'm like sir, no way. I've been coming here since 2018 and I know the difference. There was more rice and seasoning as opposed to what it's advertised as. I mean, honestly, if he'd said yeah, we're experiencing the same 2024 crawfish season drought that has been happening everywhere because of the saltwater intrusion, then I could understand but to lie and deny the difference was asinine. I thought perhaps they have loads of crawfish frozen somewhere to avoid a drought but the difference between the prior year's crawfish boudin in shape, color and taste is very noticeable from the 2024's boudin. Today's boudin looks like red hot links on steroids minus the red color. C'mon, just be honest, sheeeesh! While the truth matters, I won't be back anymore. Take a look at the pics and you can see the difference. Today, I bought seasoned rice boudin and not crawfish boudin.

So after doing my own research on this particular place I figured why not stop by and pick something up to eat. Well I can definitely say I'm not disappointed. Small clean spot apparently it's been around for a number of years. I ended up getting a small shrimp platter with the fried rice and some tartar sauce on the side. The fried rice was pretty good wasn't salty like I tend to find at some places nor was it greasy. The shrimp were tender and had a good flavor. Although the food tasted pretty good the tartar sauce was the best. Yes I did say the tartar sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I did not ask but I would say it was homemade. Creamy, rich, tangy and herby. Also I appreciate and liked how respectful the lady working on my visit was to all of the customers. This is something you don't see everyday. I've only seen this type of awesome customer interaction once this year. It was at a restaurant I ate at while working in Monroe Louisiana. Even if the food wasn't good I would return to this place just because of the great customer service.

The parking lot is a little tight and the entrance is really elevated keeping it safe from any flooding being the river is very close - once inside we found it really interesting and filled with lots of local delicacies, we walked over to the meat case where we assumed the plate lunches would be served and was greeted by a friendly employee. Unfortunately we missed the bbq being it was late afternoon and they were doing their clean up and we were told there were a few plates boxed up in a warming case off to the side, they were clearly marked but taped closed and I really didn't want to open them or buying them without seeing what was inside since we had no experience with this local grocer. I noticed there were several small paper bags labeled cracklins some chicken and one marked "rich-man cracklins" so I grabbed one of those thinking it would be a good snack for the ride back. Unfortunately they were not something we were accustomed too, they were very meaty and chewing verses the fried pork fat with a crispy rind we were hoping for and now we know this was a different version so we dismissed them after both trying one each. Although this visit didn't work out like we had hoped the store is very nostalgic and has a cool factor about it and the staff was very friendly and so it was definitely an interesting stop and I'd return when in the area to explore a few more of their offerings...
