TABANDEH ( also the name of the owner) is one of my favorite places to meet (new and old) friends, shop, and have a fun time. I discovered this unique store while visiting my sister in DC. Back then the store was located in the basement floor of Maza Gallery but several years ago moved to The Shops at Wisconsin Place. Tabandeh is an artist herself, and you can see her artistic vision in every aspect of the store. It is a treat just to visit. She has curated a collection of artists whose designs are unique, and beautiful and many aren't often seen in other stores. I love everything about this store, and that includes the people. They excel at understanding you and your preferences and if they think the time is right, they might steer you to something that is even better for your color, and personality, and shape. May 14, 2016 Stopped in with a friend after eyeing a pair of earrings in the window as we were walking by. Items in this store are offered with a hefty price. Very few items under $200. Shoes and sandals easily $350+, earrings in the $400 range ... I also spotted a tank/tee for $300. Meh... Used to come here a few times in the 90s when I lived in DC proper and bought a few pieces but don't remember the prices being so ultra-high. Really cool, universal pieces here, clothing, jewelry, scarves, and footwear. A huge downside for me was one of the sales reps or possibly the owner, and her hard sell approach. It was way too much ... an overly exaggerated, aggressive and insincere sales pitch. Everything and everyone looked good in Everything. NOT! Also, my friend and I tried on the same shoes, original cost, $365 and she told me she would give them to me for$265 and 5 minutes later told my friend $295. To sum it up ... boorish and a lowbrow moment. Not a fan and pretty sure I will not return. read more

They're stuff is okay. Couldn't get into the store cause it's by appointment only? Not clearly marked anywhere but when I tried to go in the door was locked and j had to ring a bell which is when the sales person told me. Kind of ridiculous cause it really shuts people off from just browsing, especially since over half the plaza operates on normal hours. Huge let down. read more

I was excited to check out Tabandeh after reading about it in Washingtonian, and when I received a bracelet from here that was just a smidge too big, I thought I'd go check out their offerings. Really a beautiful collection of jewelry, ranging from funky and trendy to classic and refined. Some of the casual pieces seem a bit overpriced, whereas the diamonds and fine jewelry are pretty spot-on in terms of price. Customer service, however: unimpressed. I came in at 6p, they close at 7, and at 6:40 the two women were shutting off the lights in parts of the store and basically confining me to one area. One of the women helping me made multiple snide comments when I asked about the prices of a few different items. I had $100 to spend (which, btw, does not go very far in there), and her attitude could not have been more condescending. When I asked to see items in a drawer, she said, "I don't think you'll like anything in there." Oh, I'm sorry, we met all of 15 minutes ago -- how do you know what I like? Even though I thought they had a great collection, I will never shop here again. I have experienced much more positive shopping outings at other area boutiques, such as Shoefly and Proper Topper, both of which I would recommend infinitely. read more

FINALLY! I don't have to travel to NYC, LA or Paris to find designer pieces in DC, a city lacking style. Besides the great selection of clothing and shoes, Tabandeh had an amazing fine jewelry collection, unlike anything I have seen before. The collection of gold, diamonds and semiprecious stones were so beautiful. The best part of my shopping experience was the sales staff's great eye at finding me pieces that worked on me. So if you are looking to spend a little bit more, on a great, unique piece you have come to the right place. I know I will be definitely going back. read more

The merchandise is beautiful, but over priced. I purchased a Bazar Deluxe Single Breasted coat for a 30% sale price of $657 including taxes. After getting home and going online, I noticed that that the vendor was selling the item for 508 Euros=$577. ModeSens had the same item on sale for $340. Paying $300 more for an item just because you purchase it for a small business is not acceptable. I recommend researching the prices online prior to making any purchases in the store. I did call to speak with someone and the manager was not available to talk. read more

I bought a number of pieces from this shop. I sent in a piece to be repaired. When I contacted them about getting it back, they went Mission Impossible on me and disavowed any knowledge of the item. I even brought in a photo. I don't trust them. read more

Hands down BEST boutique around. A true one stop shop. The jewelry is so unique, amazing casual and cocktail clothing and I cannot rave enough about the Rick Owens collection they have every season. My sister and I come into to DC twice a year and we make sure to make Tabandeh part of our itinerary every time! read more

If there was a no star option I would give this dump exactly that. Nothing but a homogenized blend of second rate Baghdad flea market offerings, very poorly knocked off items. Over priced, over confident sales people, and not in a good way, and a sad sad attempt at trying to pass off as an exclusive shopping experience. Store is way to cluttered, and decidedly second rate. Stay clear, go to NYC, get the real deal ladies. read more

Shop at your own risk- My style is super edgy for DC. That being said, I can truly appreciate a boutique that carries Rick Owens and Ann Demeulemeester. Their jewelry selection seems to be really cool too although I have yet to buy any. But, the amazing shopping selection is coupled with possibly the worst shopping experience. All of the associates, including the owner are incredibly high pressure and make shopping feel very uncomfortable. From that day, I ended up buying a skirt and a top. This was a pretty generous purchase I would say, for $500. I have NEVER walked out of a store feeling bad about a $500 purchase. Except for this store. They were so rude when I didn't buy a dress that I had tried on. The owner even went to make a comment like "oh that is such a shame, it won't be here when you decide you want it" or something condescending along those lines. I didn't buy the dress because, at the time I don't have an occasion for it. I can't say that when I do need a dress for a certain occasion though that I'll be back in this store. When I came back the next day to buy the skirt and shirt, I watched the owner try to hustle a customer for an earrings and necklace set, and the poor customer looked so displeased when she only wanted the earrings. I work in retail and I have heard other customers with the same complaints. Service at Tabandeh is minimal unless you're paying for one of the more expensive items in the store. I'll probably be back because I can't find some of their brands anywhere else, but I'm not looking forward to their sneers Negative experience overall It's a shame, because the selection is really great. read more

I went to get a gift for a friend. Although I went in way before the closing time they frowned on my coming in, telling me they had shut down the computer already and acted as though they were doing a favor to me for letting me buy a $100 gift card. Really? Then the woman kept messing up the card holder, and barked at me when I said "it's ok, I am running late". Didn't even thank me for my purchase. Wow. Will not go there ever again. read more
