This was my second time visiting Ta'Chingon and first since actively reviewing on Yelp. The Pizza Birria brought me back. It was just as good this time as the last! You might say it looks like a big quesadilla. And I'd say you have a point. But who cares what it's called. It's delicious! Definitely enough for two, maybe three if you're ordering appetizers or additional entrées. The nachos were good as well. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Nadia had a smile on her face from the time I walked through the door until I walked out. The food took a little longer to come out than desired. However that could have been just the "I'm really hungry" factor. There were plenty of tables and booths with two dining areas. Looks like they had a full bar.

A customer recommended this place and I'm so glad they did. The portions are really large and delicious. I got the shrimp quesadilla with refried beans which were served in cute little taco shell bowls. My friend got chicken fajitas and my other friend got a dish which I never did catch the name of. Our super sweet waitress was so friendly and took the time to explain each of the dishes we questioned. Then to top it all off they made up a birthday dessert for me. I love this place and will be back

This restaurant had been on my list to try and since I was around the area decided to stop by. There is plenty of inside seating with a bar area and the decor and colors are very warm and inviting. It gives the place a nice ambiance and a modern feel. We were greeted by the hostess and seated right away. Our server was friendly, attentive and happy to answer any questions. She checked on us and the pace of our meal was perfect. We got chips and salsa to start (fresh and tasty) and a jalapeño lime margarita with their tequila infused wine. It was a bit sweet and different. As for our meal, we ordered the sopes which each of them came with chorizo, chicken and steak. We ordered tacos for our entrees and were able to mix and match from the ones they offered. We had chicken, shrimp, and fish and they came with a blend of pico, sour cream and cheese. Everything was fresh, made to order, flavourful and delish! We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Food was amazing and service was great. And the bonus, no wait! Margaritas were a little strong but they were excellent!

This Mexican restaurant is consistent in their food and service. I truly enjoy coming here. There is plenty of seating, I've never had to wait. My go to meal is the nachos. The are plenty of them and it's sharable. My companions on this trip enjoyed their food. We will all definitely return. Don't sleep on this Mexican restaurant. You're missing out if you don't try it at least once.

We popped into this restaurant while in the area. It's a well decorated, clean, and bright space with very friendly staff. Our waitress was sweet and attentive throughout our meal. There is a nice bar area set up if you're in the mood for cocktails which we did not partake in this time. We started with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were tasty and the salsa had a great flavor and nice kick of spice. My bf ordered the steak quesadilla and I ordered the choripollo which was chicken topped with queso and chorizo. Both came with rice and refried beans. I also added a hard shelled steak taco on the side because tacos are wonderful and I love trying them everywhere. Meals came out pretty quickly after ordering. I tried the taco first. It was good with a generous amount of steak, but I felt the steak was a bit bland. I tasted my bf's steak quesadilla. We both loved that it had a great amount of cheese, but agreed that again, it was lacking in flavor. My choripollo was good. The queso on top was yummy and the chicken was prepared nicely and tender, but I felt it relied more on the queso and chorizo for its flavor. The chorizo had a nice kick. I loved the refried bean presentation in the mini taco bowls. They were a nice consistency. The rice was also pretty good. Portions are huge at a reasonable price. Overall, I loved the service here and the food was pretty good! I wouldn't say it's the best I've had in town, but a good option if in the area or just wanting to check it out. I'd give it a solid 3.5 if Yelp allowed half point ratings.

Everything about this was a great experience. The service, the atmosphere, and the food! It's very colorful and cute inside. There's a skeleton to greet you and all. We shared a birria pizza and it was so flavorful the consume was just a bonus. It was amazing and definitely big enough to share. Chips and salsa were good, but the chips were a touch salty to my liking. Our server was awesome. Very helpful and attentive. We'll definitely be back to try more...maybe. The pizza was so good!

This spot is truly underrated. They have a delicious menu with a variety of offerings, all tasty, fresh & authentic. I've been here a few times and have gotten a few menu items - but my #1 favorite on the menu, is THE BIRRIA PIZZA. This thing is HUGE. And sheesh is it good! It's honestly enough to share between 2-3 people. They serve it up with a traditional consomé, as well as their homemade salsas! Be sure to try this item - you won't regret it. The service is always friendly and you can tell they have a little pride in their restaurant.

Fresh salsa, flavorful dishes, and friendly staff make Ta'Chingon a winner! Note: margaritas are wine-based, not tequila-based. I do love authentic margaritas with tequila, so I did not order one.... But, food still delicious! Authentic Mexican flavors and a warm atmosphere - we'll be back!

5 stars for some good food, great service and cute space! You wouldn't think the restaurant would be so cute from the strip center it's in. But they did a great job on the space inside. You are greeted with free chips and salsa. Always a plus in my book! There's a pretty big menu with a lot of options. We wanted to try the birria pizza but didn't want to go so heavy. So we tried the shrimp ceviche and the El pastor quesadilla. I would say skip the ceviche, I always prefer the Peruvian style with lime juice but this one has balsamic on it. It has lots of cumbers, red onions and tomatoes too. We both really enjoyed the El pastor quesadilla. Nice and cheesy with hints of pineapple. They gave us a second round of chips too! I asked for a hot sauce and it was definitely a homemade spicy sauce. Nice space and good food. We'll be back to try that birra pizza soon. I was impressed with our first visit!

This place will be one of my go to neighborhood hot spots! It is awkwardly located in a strip mall behind a gas station and you will probably drive past it a few times before taking notice. But I'm so glad I did!! The staff were sweet and welcoming. The decor is pretty fun and light. Skulls are a theme and I can dig it. The food came out piping hot!!!! Yes just the way I like it. We started off with the complimentary chips and salsa and added the queso fundido with chorizo. It came out on a skillet and was very tasty. I expected it to be more loose like a queso dip but this was a nice alternative. It was served with tortillas which kinda of reminded me of Indian and Malaysian food where you break off flatbread with your dips. It was a little oily for me but my partner enjoyed it. Next up were the stars of the show. The mixta fajitas and the birria tacos! Oh my... these were soooooo good. Tasty, savory, juicy. Everything you want and then some. Had two rounds of tasty margaritas and I love that my passion fruit one was offered with sugar salt or tajin! Ended with churros. I was stuffed but I love me a good churro so I couldn't pass it up. It was also nice and hot but I will be honest and say that I've had better. Not sure if it was the dough but it lacked a bit of flavor.

I was feeling a little homesick and missing my rice so I ordered the Cali Rice Bowl and it was everything my body was asking for and more. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and everything tasted fresh and delicious. My partner ordered the birria tacos and he absolutely loved them. He kept talking about how flavorful they were and how well everything was prepared. We came later in the evening so the restaurant was pretty busy but we were seated immediately. The location itself is beautiful, though it is just a little dark inside. The prices were good and nothing crazy. But the real star of the show was our server Mateus. And I mean that sincerely. We ate here on February 9th and it is now March 13th and I am sitting here writing this review at midnight because I want everyone to know how amazing he was. We have never had such an energetic, sweet and attentive server who genuinely made us feel like we were dining with family. His kindness and personality truly made our experience at Agave Azul so much better. Honestly we wish we could have taken him with us.

4 Star update (7 years later!): Still yummy and a fun vibe…read more My new favorite dish is the vegetarian fajitas with grilled shrimp added. There's enough food in this dish to last you two meals and every element is delicious. Special shout-out to the rice, which at some places is an afterthought, but is good enough to eat on its own here. I also highly recommend their tres leches for dessert after a satisfying, salty dish! Another thing to note: They get your food out QUICKLY. If you're looking for a place for a quick bite, this is a great option for that reason. They are definitely used to volume food prep and you will not be waiting long. Finally, they have a full bar and are able to make whatever you want. Though they don't have ranch water on the cocktail menu, we asked for it and described it and got them right away. The drinks are solid, the food is tasty and quick, and the atmosphere is lively (albeit sometimes a bit loud). Add this to your list! Previous review: 4 Stars for a beautiful spot with a seriously fun vibe and delightful Tex/Mex food. I was surprised how big Agave Azul is inside, given the small frontage on 17/92. Parking out back had plenty of spots, but also boasted valet, which would be convenient if all the spaces are full. Once seated, we got chips and salsa immediately. The chips were crispy and the salsa was wonderfully fresh-tasting with the restaurant-style salsa consistency. I appreciated someone coming around after we ordered our food to refill the chips and salsa. No stinginess here! I wasn't sure which drink to get and looked in the Margherita section. My server recommended La flaca when I said I wanted something less sweet. He just suggested we reduce the agave nectar. When I got it I was kind of bummed though because it was VERY sweet. I can't imagine how sweet it is with full agave nectar... For food I got the chicken rice bowl (thanks to all the Yelp reviews raving about it). It was absolutely delicious! But, honestly, how could it not be? It was sprinkled with some kind of avo crema (green sauce) and the rice at Agave Azul is unbeatably decadent (reminds me of my Peruvian grandfather's rice. He used a stick of butter in his...). With that being said, I would have loved more beans (there was a tiny amount), but otherwise, so flavorful. (NOT a low-calorie bowl, FYI) My vegetarian partner ordered the enchilada de calabaza (pumpkin enchilada). He was very happy with it and we were surprised by the inventive vegetarian options throughout the menu. This dish came with a side of rice and beans and he couldn't stop raving about the black beans and how well-seasoned they were. Overall, good experience! I will say that I tend towards the smaller taco joints and this somehow gave me suburban vibes, but it was full of happy people! One last note- they turn the music WAY up at a certain point in the evening, so be prepared!

Being that I was in the area, I figured let's give this spot a try. Lo and behold, El Pueblo was only six minutes down the road! There was a 20 minute wait, but I was greeted kindly by the staff, and when I walked in you could tell this place was super authentic. The decor was super vibrant and music was bumping. They do not have alcohol, but they have coronas and a margarita type glass premixed for purchase. That held us over for the time being. The chips and salsa were phenomenal. The salsa had some type of sweet pepper flavor to it and you could tell it was homemade. My friend got three tacos with rice and beans and I got the flautas you were able to choose your own meat, which was really cool no extra charge.
