So I reached out the Vance regarding a complicated auto insurance matter, in which he was both knowledgable and helpful in helping us get what we needed. However, after doing some additional shopping around I discovered that I could get a better level of coverage with a very reputable company for a fraction of the premium that Vance signed me up for. I decided to start a new policy with the other company and cancel the policies (auto and renters) that Vance helped me with. Fortunately, I was able to call the auto insurer directly to cancel, so that part was easy. But for the renters, the company told me I needed to reach out to the agent directly to cancel. So I reached out to Vance with evidence of replacement coverage and written request to cancel. After days of run-arounds and condescending emails, the issue was still not resolved. He REFUSED to cancel the policy stating I needed to sign a policy release form. He even tried to spin it and say "he was uncomfortable that I would not provide a signed release". And I'm like ok I looked up the Washington State Legislature, and according to the code, an insured can cancel their insurance policy with just a written notice, which was provided. I don't know if he thought I was stupid and uneducated and that he could feed me whatever BS and I'd just buy it or what, but nonetheless I did not appreciate how difficult he made it to cancel my renters policy. Mind you, this policy was maybe $160/yr. I can imagine how much more difficult it would be to cancel a policy that was thousands of dollars in annual premium. Bottom line, BEWARE of this guy. He seems charming and helpful when trying to earn your business, but the minute you decide you want to go somewhere else, he becomes a different, much less helpful agent. read more
