It seems like they want you to keep coming back to get what should have been down the first time. I should have know better. There does not seem like there are any doctors out there anymore. Most are scared to give certain prescriptions but that is why they are there. Not at all like who I went to who retired and the one before him and before him etc. They were real doctors unlike what you have now. Making him our family doc was the best decision we ever made. He is INCREDIBLY approachable; you never feel rushed, he takes the time to answer all questions big and small -- and over all just seems to go the extra mile, and REALLY & TRULY CARE about his patients. PCPs/General practitioner family docs are a dying breed. To find a PCP that is a sole practitioner, not in a large medical group is EXTREMELY rare, if not basically extinct these days. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference to have a doc, where you are HIS patient rather than just another number to a random group practice. The gold ol' days of medicine are almost gone and it is just so amazing that Dr. Maslen is still there. All the pressures in medicine today push, if not force docs to sell their practices and join these large medical groups-- costs, insurance, etc are the culprit here. We are just so thankful to have a doctor that loves what he does and endures the incredible pressures to retain his independent sole practice. Idk.. I believe I learned that he sets aside 2 appointments per week for new patients. I learned this bc I called so many times hoping for an opening. Not because it was urgent. But I wanted to make sure referrals were going to be in place, etc. No one cancels their appts. so when they say 3 months and "they'll call you if there's a cancellation...." don't hold your breath. But I'm very happy with my new PCP! He was comfortable with my diagnoses and complicated conditions and the treatment course I'm on so I actually am not going to all of those specialists appts. for now. He was so nice, easy to talk to and made me feel welcome.

Recently learned from their website that she is a geriatric physician as well. I always encourage people to have a geriatric doctor for loved ones. It's specialized experience that is a must. You're assisting someone of advanced age. It's hard enough to make decisions for yourself, that much harder for someone else. Geriatric doctors are seasoned in the ways of an aging patient. The Cameron Medical Group location is good. Only a front parking lot like in a shopping center would be better, but this location is next best, in the heart of downtown Silver Spring. Street level parking opens up, drive around the block and you'll find something, or use county parking just there. It's a hilly walk from Metro, one block over, but there's the freebie bus that goes to the side of the building, on Cameron (think Silver Spring Diner). Building has an elevator, and the Cameron's Group office is pleasant. One day a week, CMG has hours until seven p.m. which is incredibly convenient--means not having to take leave from work. Some people don't have ability to take leave--it's costly even if you do. Extended hours are appreciated, it's a fine benchmark for this Group. With their website, one can access needed forms. My forms were mailed to me ahead of time. I appreciate having enough time to complete forms thoroughly. Office staff has computer skill to allow for helpful email appointment reminders. Techs in this office are very nice. Remember that CMG does not take checks, it's cash or debit. Only negative for me is a too-high, too uncomfortable chair for blood draw. Simply does not work for me, tried it twice, twice a fail, the chair height and type is not for me.

I met Dr. Kwon in the foyer of my condo complex and found out that we had the same last names and that he was a general practitioner. Looking for a doctor, I quickly made an appointment and jetted off to Silver Spring. Dr. Kwon's office was clean and quaint - lots of little old Korean ladies who hadn't quite caught on to the English craze here in America - but hey, it's a niche market and you have to cater to the customer if you're going to survive. Very friendly, gets back to you quickly, and doesn't talk down to you when you ask a question. I have kept him on (even though I've been using the VA medical center lately too) as my doc and will continue to go to him in the future.

I cannot applaud Montgomery Family Medicine enough. We have a personal relationship with most of the staff so we get the attentioin we need. When I could not fit in recently, staff suggested an urgent care which I did--and that was a rarity. I love their policy of not carrying "controlled substances" in the office. In short, it's the best medical facility of which we were patients in decades. I had a minor concern that I thought was more serious. I was referred to a general surgeon and it was taken care of in no time. I needed several tests, and some of them I got on the way home at an X-ray facility on the way!
