What a lovely place to go shopping. I recently visited Buff City Soap in Roanoke for the first time…read morewhile I was in town. We don't have Buff City Soap in my area and I have never heard of the place until then. I was initially impressed by the beautiful store display and the clean interior. It's also nice how little plastic this store seems to use. There were not many items sold in plastic-- only the detergents, shower oil, scrubs, and hand soaps seemed to come in plastic containers and others used paper wrappings including the shopping bags. You can receive $1 off for the future purchase if you bring back the empty containers. The store makes soaps on-site and have lovely bar soaps, shave bars, shower oil, bath soaks, pup soaps for dogs, items for men such as beard oil, bath accessories, laundry detergents and wooly balls, etc. All of the items have natural ingredients and no animal fats used. I was particularly impressed by how little ingredients are in the laundry detergents. Only 4 ingredients!!! The detergents and wooly balls can be scented in any fragrance you like in the store. The latter item can be brought back to the store to get it rescented as well. I was informed that the scents typically lasts for about 30-days. Both the detergents and the wooly balls can be purchased scent free as well. I purchased the Narcissist bar soap, shave bar, scrubs, detergents in both Narcissist scents and Good Morning Sunshine, soap holders, as well as the wooly balls. The total came out to about $80 for the whole transactions and I am not having too much post purchase resentments. At least not yet. I have so far loved using every single one of the items and can't wait to order more online as there isn't a Buff City Soap in my area. Every items smells amazing and although I am typically not a bar soap user, I loved how moisturizing the soap felt. The wooly balls has helped speed up the drying time but it will not soften your laundry. I was amazed by how quickly my blankets dried at home using the woolly balls. The one downside with the detergent is that it made my laundry feel a bit stiff. I recommend using liquid fabric softener as needed. They also offer Rewards program. I wish I had known that they are having a Buy 5 Get 2 event 3 days after my splurging. I was also put off by the curt reception I received from the store associates compared to the other non minority customers. I was not informed about what the store offers and other perks and current specials available. All in all, I wouldn't mind recommending this particular store if you are not allergic or sensitive to scents. And if you are prone to experiencing migraine headaches, it may trigger an episode as the store is very well scented and can feel overwhelming.
