Watch it! They'll cheat you.
I am a longtime T Mobile customer. Went in to look at smartphones. I had previously looked online at the Samsung Galaxy S5 and had nearly decided on it but they raised the price when I started to order it online.
Settled on the Samsung J7. You pay the tax and a for a new sim card. Had a charge of $9 for JUMP. I thought it was a one-time charge related to activating this new phone. WRONG!
Since they had the amount of my original bill wrong and had tacked on about five bucks to figure what I'd now be paying, I called and waited about 15 minutes for customer service. I guess I wasn't the only one having this problem, or problems.
Jump is a worthless insurance that this guy had put on my account without permission or asking me. He slipped it in. While on the phone with customer service, I had to look up online what this is and even then I had to literally drag the truth out this service rep before she admitted what it was or even mentioned the amount of the deductible. She finally confirmed it was a $175.
Sure, it's insurance if the phone is lost, stolen or broken. Nine bucks a month and has a $175 deductible! $175 deductible on a $239 phone? So, keep it for six month and it breaks, you're out $175 + $54 for JUMP. That just about breaking even with replacement costs. Factor in if you need a new SIM card and you're in the hole. Now, if you bought a phone and you hated it, without the insurance, you have saved $224 that be put to a better phone. With it, you're back to another phone that broke and that you may hate.
And, it allows you trade the phone in, supposedly. What a bargain. You have to pay half the phone off which in this case would be $120. Add one year of the JUMP which is $108. Then you can trade the phone in and get a $10 credit, as I understand it. That would be out $228 to get $10. But, I wouldn't be surprised if she explained it wrong. Would make more sense to just burn the money up.
Since this guy put this JUMP on without asking me and thinking I wouldn't notice, this place gets one star. He got a little more commission out of it. After I complain, he may get a lot more time to surf on his phone. read more
