Went through the store and browsed a bit. I wasn't in here for anything in particular so I made my way slowly through the aisles. They had items that I wanted, but didn't really need at that time. If I was heading home I would have considered, but I was on my way to a long road trip. The flow of the store was just quicker, everything ran smoothly. I was able I make my way back up front to head out. I will be honest, I did not purchase anything here, but if I am in the area again, I will stop by.

The department store was two stories and had escalators. The selection of women's clothing was gigantic! The departments for men's, girls', and boys' clothing were a good size also, as were the departments for shoes, accessories, housewares, beauty products, etcetera. They also had a chocolate bar that sold fudge and other products. Prices were low. For example, I bought a pair of slippers that had a suggested retail price of $24 but were on sale for only $10--bargain! The slippers look stylish and feel comfortable to wear. Several cash registers were spread throughout the store, and a few cashiers were available to serve me. My cashier accurately rang up my purchase, and she politely thanked me for visiting. The only reason why I knocked off a star is because I found only one product to buy, but I could imagine other customers coming here and going on a shopping spree!

Anyway, not much has changed here other than the plain white remodel that every Walmart seems to be getting at this point. Not that this place didn't need it with it catching on fire a few years ago. Bit hard finding things as I expected. I have a hard time trying to understand why different stores have different layouts. Keep it simple, especially if you have so many stores. I used the photo printing while I was here. It was OK, but you could have let me pay at the self print kiosk instead of printing it and then having to stand in line. Wonder how many people walk out of here without paying? Self check out lanes available.

Even though we are moving into warmer temperatures. I will still sport those, you can't pass up a good hoody. Clothing aside, they do offer a wide array of other items. However those are the items that you need to pick through. I wish that it would be a constant mix of items, but these seem to be the items that go faster than the clothing. Each person answering the phone was ruder than the last. Wherever these calls are sent to, they are answered by very annoyed clerks who obviously do NOT want to be bothered. I thought I could call the local Penneys store and be transferred to the photo studio. That never happened. It is obvious that the company does NOT want to be bothered by customers. If they don't need the business from this branch of the store, then why not just discontinue it. Penneys photography is owned by Lifetouch and I wonder if that know how potential customers are treated. There are some nice people in other departments of the Altoona store, but what is this abuse I experienced from trying to reach the photo studio department? I found another studio, called them, was treated wonderfully and the appountment is made. JC Penneys could have had that business, but instead, they treated me with rudeness and total disregard. It ended up not fitting so we had to have the movers return it. We went back to Big Lots and returned the sectional and got a 2 person recliner loveseat. John - the manager who helped us was great! He was able to return the sectional and still gave us a great deal. I am so happy with their customer service. The movers were great too and they even offered to bring the new couch to us tonight. Best Big Lots I've ever been to!

I don't often have to make returns to Amazon but when I do, I was hoping the process would be easy. I also was thinking how nice I can return my Amazon products to Kohl's and maybe take a look around a real store and buy something for Christmas. The lady behind the customer service counter had her back turned for practically two minutes before she acknowledged me grudgingly said, may I help you? In a tone indicator, her attitude was not to help me at all. I put my package on the counter and said I would like to return this please and she said well you're not gonna do that here! That's a UPS tag. We don't do that here. I said well what if I take the tag off it's only loosely Taped. She said if you want to return to Kohl's you need a Kohl's tag. You will have to go home and re-print one out. I'm thinking, oh my mistake, but she did not offer a solution that could've kept me as a customer in her store.
