The providers and staff here are super competent, professional, gentle, warm and respectful. It's actually a hard feat to maintain all these qualities but they do it well. Emelie at the front desk who kept meticulous track of my billing, my appointments, my pcp referrals, my emails all with a friendly greeting each time. I could overhear her greeting all the patients in the same way, with warmth and professionalism. She knows the ins and outs of insurance, referrals, approvals etc and I appreciated her communication with my pcp's office. My own physical therapist Eric was knowledgeable, professional, beyond competent, kind and compassionate. The other providers in the office that I observed working with their patients were much of the same. What is most impressive is how they strike a balance of friendliness and professionalism. I saw them truly caring for their patients. Physical therapy isn't a quick fix for an issue. But this is a great team to guide you back to health. Be as patient and hard working in your recovery as they are. You'll see results. And if you have issues that maybe don't necessarily warrant a doctors visit or if your doctor won't refer you but you want to see a healthcare provider to guide you about musculoskeletal issues, you can make an appt and pay out of pocket. Of course it's not cheap but to put it in perspective, it costs more to get eyelash extensions. And these providers have years of schooling and experience backing them. I didn't know this but PT isn't only for injuries but can be applied to other issues like migraines and vertigo.

This was my first time dealing with this type of injury, and I underestimated both the treatment process and the benefits it could provide. I was definitely mistaken. Jin and Jason, in particular, have been very effective, helpful, and great to work with. They make the sessions productive while also keeping the environment comfortable and enjoyable. Hahn at reception is also easygoing, efficient, and quick to assist. The location is convenient, and parking is ample, which is a big plus. Overall, I highly recommend Pacific Therapy.

If you're going to Jaco, here are two questions you should ask before you start:…read more 1. "Will I have the same personal trainer each session?" That's a reasonable expectation. A consistent PT can track your progress, understand your limitations, and adjust your program the way true one-on-one training should. 2. When they ask, "Have you been doing your exercises?" Respond with: "Did you review my data and history before this session?" My experience was being passed between multiple trainers. Without getting into the weeds, no one consistently reviewed my charts before sessions. That matters. Without context, it's impossible to ask the right questions or receive targeted guidance. Each session, I was measured and data was recorded--but no one explained what it meant. I was never told how I was progressing, especially regarding range of motion or outcomes. Jaco uses a high-tech system that allows them to charge a $50 cancellation fee within 24 hours, yet trainers weren't consistently inputting or reviewing data to deliver informed sessions. At one point, the lead PT had to step in mid-session to guide the trainer I was working with on what I should actually be doing. After two months of this, I canceled my sessions and am now looking for another PT provider.

Mari the Occupational Therapist has been helping me with my after surgery care. I was having a difficult time improving under the Hospital Therapist outpatient care. They did not work very long on my scar adhesions under my skin, which are very hard. Mari got the scar adhesions to soften The adhesions still have not completely soften but they have gotten smaller in size. As the adhesions soften the other issues of nerve sensitivity and pain began to appear. She has worked on them and the pain is slowly going away and my hands are getting better finally. She answers my concerns, with satisfactory probable issues, that I may have. She helped me with a fractured wrist about 2 years ago. I regret not going to her initially for my care. I think I would be back to work by now. I have a few issues that need accommodations at work, by no fault of hers. She is helping me with aids for those issues. My skin is very sensitive. I develop itchy heat rashes and allergist reactions to regular splints and braces. She now has the ability to provide finger splints from Silver Ring Splints. Bert Tada, the PT at Breakthrough Rehab in Kaimuki, is just such a person. He is knowledgeable, courteous, and an expert massage therapist. I obtained an Rx for 8 sessions of PT on my sore and swollen Achilles from a local podiatrist. This is a chronic problem I have been coping with on my own for years, but after a recent flare-up in the wake of an exhausting weekend of tennis, I decided to seek professional help. I am soooo glad I did. After just 3 sessions of PT, I have almost no pain, the swelling has reduced a noticeable amount, and my ankles feel much stronger and more stable. My PT regimen has three basic components: massage, rehab exercise, and ultrasound/laser (more on this in a minute). Bert's massage technique provides just the right amount of stimulation and pressure. It is so soothing and effective that I am already considering paying out-of-pocket for additional massage therapy when my Rx is over. The rehab is a good mix of stretching and strengthening while improving balance. For the final component, Bert gave me the choice of ultrasound and "cold" laser, administered by his friendly helper Jan. I decided to try both (one on each of my first two visits) and then go with the one that seemed more effective. Verdict? Laser. Though far from scientifically verifiable, the laser seemed to provide more benefits in terms of reducing swelling and increasing comfort. But for all I know, ultrasound could be just as effective. Parking is easy in the basement of the building and fully reimbursed. Could not be happier with my Breakthrough Rehab experience.
