David has taken numerous trips to China for the past 50+ years to learn first hand from the elite practitioners of Tai Chi. As mentioned, going to his classes, is like being in China and being taught by the dedicated practitioners who live it. We are so fortunate to have made the acquaintance of David and have the opportunity to be taught by one of the best Tai Chi practitioners in the world, and he is here in Syracuse. I never write reviews but I need to in this case. Tai Kai is unlike a traditional gym, where you…read morepay your money, get your lessons or workout in, then go home. At Tai Kai you leave with so much more. Not only do you get top level training from the original BJJ school in CNY who has the most black belts around, but you also gain a new family, community, a home away from home where everybody knows your name (like Cheers, but without the alcohol). I couldn't be more sincere when I say you earn a new family. And this was evident when my 5 year old son (who also trained at Tai Kai) was diagnosed with brain cancer. Ken, the owner and my friend the past 10 years, put together a fund raiser at the gym to help raise money for my son and the upcoming medical costs. The turnout was huge and was more than I would've ever expected. Ken and everyone else at the gym checks on My son all the time, asking how he's doing and I wish I can bring him into the gym so he could get to see everyone who cares about him. Others had dropped of food for us, donated toys, clothes...etc to help relieve our burden. The 10 years I've spent training Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, and mma at Tai Kai; the blood and sweat, the physical rigors and soreness from a great workout....it's all been worth it to be able to be part of a family and community that had my back in the most difficult time of me and my family's life. Thank you Ken and Tai Kai for being the best around.

I've learned to recognize great instruction and great instructors. Most recently I've had the pleasure of spending the summer training at Warcloud BJJ in Manlius. The owner, Professor Scott Schultz, is one of the most experienced BJJ black belts I've come across. He's learned from, and competed against, top names in BJJ and MMA. This includes several big names in UFC history. His instruction is top notch. He's an encyclopaedia of techniques. He points out all of the subtle details of each move and the way he 'flows' when demonstrating is so smooth. The academy itself is conveniently located, clean, and well equipped. The people that train there are all 'down to earth', good-natured, family-oriented, 'everyday' people. Several of the adult students also have their kids train in the kids classes. The academy has the perfect atmosphere to cater to both the everyday person looking to casually train or the competitor eager to up their game. On a personal note, I've found Professor Schultz to be an accommodating, understanding, humorous, caring, and all around good guy. He cares about each of his students, even the ones who walked through the door for the first time. If you're looking for a place to train in Fayetteville, Manlius or the neighboring towns, this is it.

As an instructor, she cracked jokes throughout the class, which I thought was a really great way to make less experienced participants feel less self conscious. That might not be everyone's style, but I thought it was a nice change up from more straightforward, serious tone you might find in other studios. Also, she did a great job of breaking down more complex moves into easy steps to help students nail the form. The flow itself was a great balance of restful & simple moves, and more challenging moves -- but always perfectly paced, and never too much at one time. Great for beginners, and a good mix between strenuous and restorative. Also, it was just plain fun. Overall, this was a great time and quality guidance, and I would definitely be open to taking more classes with Syracuse Yoga. Would recommend anyone who is considering them to take the chance and try them out!
