I had a crown on December 10th with Dr. Lee. She and her assistant were so nice to me. Dr. Lee remembered that I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to getting novocaine. She talked me through the entire process from start to finish. She was very gentle and caring. I even got a phone call the next day to ask how I was feeling. I told her "you did such a good job, and made me feel so at ease". We had just moved to Liverpool and I was referred to the practice by a coworker. I am so glad that I went there. read more

I spoke with Andrea, who is absolutely lovely, for a total of 90 minutes. What I wanted, needed and expected were discussed in detail, the moon was served to me on a platter and I was thrilled. I filled out forms. Transferred my records. I did all the things, all of them Arrived to my supposed-to-be consultation with the dental proprietor of the establishment, to be served a cup of rinse. I rinsed. I spat. I sat awkwardly through 20 pictures of my teeth being taken by digital camera. I held the tongs when asked. My husband raised an eyebrow. I shrugged. I was there to discuss a plan for getting implants, as my teeth did not make it through terminal lung cancer as peppy as I did. When I informed them I was not there for the $149 super special super cleaning, confusion was thick. I said again, I was supposed to see the owner. Andrea said she works with the #1 implant specialist in the country. I was stoked. We then waited 30 minutes for the dentist who showed up delightful, gentle and absolutely clueless to anything. She asked why I was there. I said to fix my teeth. She said what's wrong with them. I said there's only 7. She asked what I was specifically there for. Now less sure, I answered... expertise? On... dental... implants? Did no one... sigh. She excised herself to peer at my X-rays for the first time, and then said she would not be able to help me, but handed me a useless post-it where 'a firmer cancer patient like me can go to get specialized care for my cancer deformity.' Um. Those teeth were pulled in the 90's, back when sedation dentistry wasn't really a thing, and my dentist pulled anything that needed more than 10 minutes work because I had panic disorder. Unacceptable in the late 80's and early 90's. Point is, it was a waste of time, a schmooze to get me there and it was irritating because now my sedation dentist is like: appreciate what you have. And maybe that's it. I'll give him 23k because my deformity, whether from cancer or anxiety, doesn't bother him And he knows I'd absolutely smack him if he said I was deformed. Because what a douche to the ego High traffic. Very busy. It's dark. Addams family decor (black blinds with dark blue floors). Don't recommend. Unless that's your thing. Then go for it. read more

Smiles by Design has been my choice for dentistry for about 8 years. The office is sparkling clean, and features all the latest high tech equipment. I have had some crowns made. Dr. Dunn takes extreme care in matching the crown color to the surrounding teeth. I am most grateful to Smiles by Design for resolving my sleep apnea issue. I chose to have a dental appliance made, and it has made a positive impact on the quality, and quantity of restorative sleep. In all procedures - right down to a tiny filling - the steps were carefully explained. Any x-rays were justified; special care was taken to place the thyroid protective collar in the correct spot without me prompting to do so. The staff exudes an active interest in education. I have learned much about the 'new' threat of oral cancers, safe and effective products for oral health, and sleep apnea treatment alternatives. Two perks that I especially like are that any follow-up appointments can be made on the computer in the treatment room, and the goody bags given after a cleaning are wonderful. Their nonintrusive email, text, or phone reminders are handy. The entire staff -including the ladies who handle appointments, insurance, and billing- are consummate professionals. I've been to this dental office for cleanings, fillings, and to get invisalign. Both the hygenists and dentist (I had Dr. Stets) are gentle and concerned that you are comfortable throughout the appointment. It actually feels more like a spa than a dental office (they have blankets if your legs get cold, sunglasses if that industrial dentist's light is too much in your eyes, and vitamin e for your lips)! They also do not rush you out of the office like many doctors tend to do: when you are in the room their time is yours until you are satisfied. I've never needed repeat work from them either- they are very thorough from the start. Cannot recommend this office highly enough! read more

My whole family loves this office and both of the dentists are fantastic. I have never been to a dental group that is more thorough than they are or more concerned with our dental/oral health. The hygienists do an amazing job and everyone always remembers my family and treats us as individuals. We have had just about everything done there from basic cleanings to crowns and have even had some laser and cosmetic procedures done. My 9 year old had to have a tooth pulled due to crowding as his adult teeth started coming in and he didn't cry or feel any pain. I highly recommend this office! read more

As a former dentist-phob, I can say that my fears vanish when I visit Dr. Dunn and her staff at Smiles by Design. She is highly professional and instills a great deal of trust by explaining every step of a procedure, which makes it a much more relaxed experience. Her staff is outstanding, as well. Shelly is so kind and efficient at the front desk, always doing her best to make sure appointments are scheduled at a convenient time and insurance forms are submitted without a hitch. Sally is an amazing dental hygienist. She takes her time to make sure the patient is comfortable and gets a thorough cleaning every time. Keisha is the best dental assistant I have ever had the pleasure of having assist Dr. Dunn. She is so caring (need a blanket? you've got it! need sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glaring light? you've got it!). Aside from her professional and kind demeanor, Keisha is also extremely precise when it comes to making sure that crowns are polished and perfect - honestly, I am so impressed with everything and everyone at Smiles by Design.
