I was in…read morethere about a year ago for a tooth that the cavity fell out of and wanted a root canal to have a crown put on the tooth. He was all set to do the crown and upon further review he discovered that the tooth was split down through the root and the root canal would not be recommended because the tooth would have to be pulled anyway. So, good on him that he didn't just go ahead and perform the root canal anyway. I would use him again myself without any reservations.

I have known Pete over 20 years as a patient and a friend. Which is why it pains me so to write this review. I feel compelled to warn others regarding Pete Ceravolo and his declining ability. I have had at least four root canals with Pete and it is the experience regarding my last root canal which went horribly wrong. Pete is declining and must have early onset brain problems. He told me my visit would be completed in two visits (after the initial consult) and he "wrapped everything up in one" I asked him about the warning he gave me of the need for two visits and I even paid two visits worth of nitrous. The tooth was not sealed properly and when I returned to him in pain he told me to go see an oral surgeon. I asked him to show me where on the X-rays he said I had a problem and he could not even look at me while he proceeded to lie to my face. I used to hang out with Pete up on his 300 acre farm where he used to boast about his prowess in "Drilling, Filling and Billing!" I should have taken that as a warning sign and stopped using him. He is available at a moments notice which certainly does not speak much of the demand for his services. His office is always empty waiting for his next prey. The employee list on the wall is a decade old and the only thing Pete cares about is money. What a shame.

I had the misfortune of needing my first root canal as an adult and Modern Endodontic Specialists…read morewas where I was referred to go for the procedure, and I'm glad I went. They were very easy to get ahold of, and the receptionist genuinely sounded caring and explained the processes and expected costs of the procedure from the first call. I went to the Fayetteville location, and the staff was on time (doesn't always happen with medical offices) and got me right in the chair. I was feeling a bit nervous, and said so, and Dr. Maloff and his dental assistant were understanding of that. They offered me laughing gas if I needed it (and told me the cost! Which I liked!) but I ended up going without after talking with them. They explained their process - instruments/sharps would pass over me on the right so I should signal with my left hand hand, and they told me most everything that would be going in and on my mouth and what they would do. I asked them to talk a bit since that puts me more at ease, and they did, to the point that I was laughing at their conversations without laughing gas during a root canal! (It is a little weird to cackle with your mouth full of stuff though.) I didn't feel any pain during the process. After I was done I was given good instructions regarding the care of my tooth, and encouraged to contact them if I had any issues. There was a little tenderness in my cheek for a few days after but it was nothing compared to how the tooth felt beforehand. I really liked that the doctor, his assistant, and all of the staff, had a very easy rapport, and clear trust, where you could tell they had been together for some time. Regardless of which of their four locations they're working at, (Liverpool, Fayetteville, Auburn, and Watertown) the doctor and their specific assistant work together. I think the communication between the staff and their patients is a strength of Modern Endodontic Specialists, and while I was nervous going in I left feeling very relaxed, and informed. I would definitely recommend Modern Endodontic Specialists.

Here's the email I sent them. I emailed you for my records. Are you ignoring my request?…read more At no point before or during the appointment was I informed that the tooth would require a core buildup and a separate crown costing over $1,300 to complete the treatment. I was told I "needed a root canal," and I agreed under the assumption that the procedure would restore the tooth. I was not told that the tooth would be left structurally weakened and incomplete without an additional procedure at a separate cost. I was informed that the existing crown on the adjacent tooth was at risk of being dislodged during the root canal. That resulted in another $1,313 expense. The entire picture should have been communicated upfront, before I was in the chair, and before I was committed to the procedure. This omission mattered. It affected both my financial planning and my ability to make an informed decision. It also created a situation where the burden of cost and stress did not become clear until it was too late to choose differently. I am not asking for anything. I am stating the impact. They do not feel responsible for their work if they cause damage.

Let me start off by saying I've been going to Zalatan dental for over 5 years and never had a bad…read moreexperience. Dr Soy has been great. I wish this past visit was the same but it wasn't! I went in for what should have been a routine filling to repair a crack & fill a spot on my 2 front teeth. Dr Hubbard worked on me. She was very rough. Cut my back gum and slipped 3 times with the sander & stripped enamel off my 2 front teeth which left grooves which are exposed. After 4 days in pain and my teeth grooved in the front with a high spot on my back tooth which Dr Hubbard Failed to complete the job I called back. I told them the problem and I asked to see Dr Soy. I specifically told them I didn't want to see Dr Hubbard again because of her rough shoddy work on MY FRONT Teeth. When I got there I waited in the chair for 45 mins then Dr Hubbard came in to try to work on me and I told her NO. Finally Dr Soy came in to clean up Dr Hubbards mess. Dr Soy was great but made excuses for Hubbard & had Dr Hubbard assisting her will she worked on me which I did not like. Long story so I'll finish. My 2 front teeth are no longer smooth as they are supposed to be but I don't have any options. Fillings seem fine. I'm a tough guy who can take pain but this was ridiculous. It should have been a one and done job but 2 visits in 6 days driving 15 miles each way was ridiculous and uncalled for. Made it a very unpleasant 10 days for only a filling. I have been going to Zalatan for over 5 years and never had an unpleasant experience. I drive from north of Rome to Utica just to go to them so I am a loyal customer. Unfortunately i now will have to find another Dentist. If your a patient there you should avoid Hubbard as she was rough with no compassion.
