A positive review for Harmony Heights…read more For those who need a school setting with smaller classes, resources, more structure and a nurturing environment during a challenging time in your teen years, Harmony Heights will change your life for the better. My graduating class had many amazing success stories so I don't understand or relate to some of the reviews on this forum. In my graduating class, some are college graduates who went to great schools. Some are professionals in the working world with some making over 6 figures. Some are married, found love, and started their own families. Many have healthy relationships with people closest to them. Others have blossomed into beautiful people that do not need the medicines and services they needed back in high school. If you're considering Harmony Heights, always remember that Harmony changes people's lives for the better, with a setting that isn't typical of any school you probably have ever been to. If you're able to embrace this, Harmony will be the best decision of your life.

This school is horrible, it feels like a prison and honestly makes me feel worse than i ever have…read moreknowing i have toi go. For context I've been attending for 2 years and have only ended up going there because my district school didnt want me because i tried to kms. They give excuses and special treatment to the mentally unintelligent and sped kids but then punish people who drop the f bomb or if we dont have a clear water bottle. They constantly allow and never punish behavior like bullying, online harassment, kids inappropriately touching other kids, kids watching pron on the chromebooks, kids sneaking in drugs and nic (several times), and aggression. I have brought this to attention and these same people get no consequences or a slap on the wrist. The teachers try they're best but it is not academically challenging in the slightest, as long as you show up you can pass. School constantly babies the students, even when theyre near adults. Kids at the school are constantly sleeping or getting triggered by the word 'god', christanity or coloring so good luck trying to talk about normal things. Takes forever to talk to YOUR OWN parents since they dont allow phones and to make calls you need to go through your therapist, whos always busy because they have 30 clients who need to see said therapist every day of the week because the therapists never say no, so if something happened at the school, they'll find out in a week. do not care about privacy. do not care about bullying unless its against the sped kids. do not care about you, because any talk of anything that isnt gay or watered down for the snowflakes gets you sent to your therapist, so good lucky talking about anything (they will take you out of context) If your daughter just struggles with attendance or anxiety dont send them here. school does not care if your planning to take your life, they're just send you to a hospital. "School" feels more like a hospital than a school. Dont send them here.

If I could rate this dump 0 stars, I totally would, and it doesn't even deserve the one star. Do…read moreNOT send your kids here, especially if they have autism or other special needs. The teachers and staff (mostly in the special ed. department) are incredibly rude and force special needs students to be overly independent before they're ready, and expect them to know how to cook by themselves, schedule appointments, etc. just because they're a certain age. When you sneeze, they don't say, "Bless you" or "Gesundheit" or anything like that, they just yell at you to go wash your hands, as if sneezing is bad and against school rules (when in reality it isn't, of course), even if you don't sneeze into your hands. This school also has way too many rules and has the most rules out of every school on Long Island, and is way too strict, especially for a fucking PUBLIC school. Even worse, students with special needs have extra rules they must follow that their neurotypical peers don't even have to follow! Special needs students are noticeably treated differently than neurotypical students by the teachers and staff, and not in a good way, either. I will say that SOME of the teachers and staff here are very nice, but sadly most of them have either retired or been fired/excessed. This school also had the fucking audacity to take the entire Presidents' break away, INCLUDING Presidents' Day, back in 2013 due to Hurricane Sandy, yet literally EVERY other school district on Long Island still had off for Presidents' Day, even though the rest of their Presidents' breaks got taken away due to Hurricane Sandy, too! (All the other schools in the same district as Huntington High School got Presidents' Day and the rest of their Presidents' break taken away that year, too, but still!) There are violent fights and swearing in the hallways of this school all the time, and the school does nothing to stop them, so they don't seem to care about the safety and well-being of their students. Speaking of school hallways, the special ed. teachers and staff make special needs students walk in the hallways by themselves and expect them to know their way around the building, and they don't give a shit about how the student feels about it. Also, only neurotypical seniors have senior privileges, while seniors with special needs are not allowed to go out for lunch no matter what the weather is like outside! This school doesn't have air conditioning, either, so in September and June it's hot as hell. I've actually even been yelled at by teachers and staff just for missing school, even if I was sick! When your special needs children are starting high school, whether you live in Huntington or not, I recommend sending them to Half Hollow Hills High School West or Walt Whitman High School. I've heard lots of good things about these schools, making them sound much better than Huntington High School, and I've also heard the special ed. programs at Walt Whitman High School are excellent. I don't know how true this is, but at least the teachers and staff at these schools won't treat your special needs kid like shit. One more thing, the school building is incredibly filthy and sometimes there are cockroaches in the classrooms! This place is disgusting!

I've never seen a better funded, better developed music and fine art program anywhere. Now, on the other hand, I have had two brothers go through the Special Education program and have watched time and time again as the program failed my brothers. The school district misdiagnosed my little brother saying that he had ADD and so prescribed him adderall when, in reality he was dyslexic. Anyway, I think they need to develop their Special Ed programs. The school district is in need of good Special Ed teachers who bring the education to the students in a non-traditional way. I loved Robbins Lane, loved HBT and loved SHS. I thank God for the experiences I had at these schools. They made me the person I am today.

SCSD prepares you along every step of the way, and especially to be a success in, and out of the classroom. Their curriculum is challenging, yet allows even the average student to reach their potential. They also offer the most AP/advance placement classes that I know of. I myself took 12 AP courses throughout my high school career, and I can attest that their standards help you prepare for college. Their sports, among other activities allow for well-rounded students come graduation day. The fine arts program is also extremely well funded, and allows for students to pursue their interests. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Syosset's teachers are paid higher, our taxes are higher, and our superintendent gets paid too much, but results come at a cost. I cannot speak about the Special Education programs as I have no personal experience with them, but for the average student going through Syosset, the results speak for themselves. A shout out to the Girls Varsity Tennis Team which has won Long Island Championships for 3 years in a row! Rock on girls, make me proud :)

I enrolled my kid to this center because I trusted the fact that this center expanded the business in this area quite successfully. However, when I toured the center, I was not very happy when I looked at the faces of kids and staff. They didn't look very happy nor enjoy their job. Furthermore, I realized that this place is too pricey compared to the other daycares in the neighborhood. So in the end, I decided to withdraw my kid's enrollment. I visited the center and explained why I made such a decision. At that time the staff promised me that I would get a check for the first month's tuition, because, at the time of enrollment, I have already paid $150 + first month's tuition ($1195). Again, the staff told me that I can get it back and the reason why she cannot give it right away is because she does not have the checkbook. The staff talked about bad things about the school to which I am switching, which sounded not nice, but I did not take it seriously. She also mentioned that there was a policy that I should have notified them 45 days in advance, strictly speaking. I notified them 30 before the first day of school. So I understood that and I greatly appreciated their kind considerations. BUT, I did not receive the check for a month, and I have sent an email to remind that. The response I got was simple enough, "No, you cannot get a check. The owner decided not to do that." WHAT?? They just ate up my $1195 because I was late for 15 days to notify them. I can totally understand if they take out part of that money, but I cannot understand that they took all of it. Even more importantly, in that response, the staff mentioned that the owner called me and explained the situation. NO!! It never happened. The owner did not give me a call and I did not know the situation before "I" asked them. I courteously replied back if there is any possibility for a partial refund and explained that I have never received a call from the owner. That was it! They never responded back to me. I cannot trust their business. It seems to me that they only take care of their profits and tries to get out of money as much as possible. They never considered me as a future family even though I could send my kids to their summer camps or after-school care. I pass the center every morning and afternoon and see a lot of cars in there. Every time, I get very annoyed by their attitude to me, and I will never consider this place as one of my future childcare.
