This Arlington-based franchise operation (zip code 22202) is a FRAUD. Do not believe any of the reviews on this website or any site associated with this agency. If you love your loved ones and truly care about them, STAY AWAY AND BEWARE of its modus operandi. First of all, one of their modus operandi to RAISE THE HOURLY RATE, they tell you their caregivers (CG) are on double time (even if they are not) and that "the owner wishes to meet you half-way by charging you $50 per hour." If you wish one of their CGs to come back or if you say good things about a CG, the rate goes up! They said, I am horrendously "picky" when it comes to CGs. In truth, they should be embarrassed. For $36-$76 per hour, I expect a top notch service - all their CGs barely do nothing!!!! Synergy Arlington NEVER SCREEN their caregivers (CG). The CGs they sent were SMELLY (with the exception of one who came in the evening between 4PM-8PM, they all smell like SKUNKS), super late, unprofessional, unreliable, highly opinionated, and the majority had no clue on what they are doing. Synergy's schedulers, Filipina office manager, and owner are just as BAD. The Ghanaian office scheduler is very dismissive, highly insensitive, and lacks candor. For example, she wants you to work with her schedule instead of the other way around. In her inability to find a CG on the time slot I selected, she insisted that I accept her proposed schedule. Turns out, she was LYING. It was just a ploy, and I caught her red handed!!! She ended up going back to my original schedule because from my conversations with the CGs, my schedule was easy to fill as they prefer to either work their normal job or whatever they chose to do. Of course, this Ghanaian officer person never apologized. In a separate situation of her inability to carry out the spirit of the contract of the care service, she insisted on me accepting a male CG even if I preferred a female CG. Talk about unprofessionalism and allegedly being #1 in the care industry, this Ghanaian office queen is very needy and cannot get her acts together. There was not a day that she did not call or sent me text messages more than once. OMG. Such a work of Art with a capital "A." Yes, NONE of the officer personnel, including the owner use a professional email address. All of them use "gmail." None of the CG uses a uniform so you can easily identify them!!! When I raised my concerns to the office manager, nothing happened. When I reached out to the owner, instead of finding a solution, he offered to supposedly let me go as if I was unprepared to cut ties. That confirmed my suspicion that all the office personnel were working at the behest of the owner. Yes, I had been researching for weeks, however, at that time, I was being careful and reading the service agreement for legal actions. When I first read about Synergy, I thought they could be trusted, or they were that good because all the reviews were way up there. They are nowhere close to these reviews. In fact, all these reviews are FALSE!!!!! Perhaps, it is right to say, they wish they are this good. On the scale from one to 10? I rate them NEGATIVE 10 or 100. So, when the owner offered to clear me out of the contract, I never hesitated!!!! The following day, I had a different agency start right away, that quick and I have never been soooooooooooooooo happy. I wish I had found this agency instead of Synergy. Because of this bad experience, I do not think I will overcome my PTSD with this franchise. The fact that Synergy allows this operator to continue to exist, they also failed. They do not conduct due diligence. It is clear to say they are all about the money, not about care as they seem to advertise. I will NEVER reach out to Synergy even if it is the last franchise operation in the face of this earth. DO NOT BE A VICTIM. NEVER BELIEVE ALL THE SPARKLING REVIEWS. I had a more invasive foot surgery than I expected. My recovery was 30 days reclined and on one floor. After 2 weeks of family helping I decided to meet with Janet Barnett to go over what to expect if I employed Synergy. I did not need much or So I thought. Synergy assigned Nicole to me and she was so easy to have in the house. Her kind manner put me at ease. She initially reminded me of my meds. She did my laundry upstairs, picked up kitchen and continually made sure I kept hydrated. She also made simple meals. Her picking up the area I was in was a gift since I was frustrated I could not. After 21/2 weeks I was able to walk more and did not the extra help. I felt confident with Nicole and would recommend Synergy and Nicole without a doubt. read more

If you're looking for a person to silently follow your loved one around, without any kind of interaction, communication, or explanation, look no further. Synergy was forced upon our family, and we literally had no choice in the matter. Their staff made zero effort to actually interact with my father, silently following him around, and watching his every move. They really don't care about who you are, or what your needs might be. I should add that these interactions did not change over the nearly 12 months of using their services. They do not care who you are, only that you pay them to do nothing. Be careful. I recently contacted Synergy HomeCare to arrange for an aide to escort me to a medical appointment. The routine outpatient procedure involved sedation, and hospital policy required that someone accompany me home. The Synergy aide arrived at my residence promptly at the scheduled time to drive me to the appointment, he was familiar with the layout of the hospital, and he even put me at ease regarding the procedure itself because he had already undergone the same examination several times. Although I am completely ambulatory, having the aide accompany me from start-to-finish provided "peace of mind." In short, I was very pleased both with the Synergy service and, in particular, with the specific aide. Although I have no need for additional Synergy services at this time, it is reassuring to know that, should the need ever arise, there is a reliable local provider of home care aides. read more

While I had plenty of awful experiences while Synergy was working for me to care for my mother, let me begin by sharing one that happened shortly after we switched agencies. I was talking to a hospice nurse near the front door to Emeritus (an assisted living home). We heard weak cries from outside, and when we went to investigate we found a woman face down in a small pool of blood, weakly saying "help me! please help me!" while her trusty Synergy aide stood a few feet away staring at her. They have a policy of not helping people up after a fall, which I understand from a legal perspective. But a) why wasn't he helping her work and most importantly b) why didn't he run to get help?! When I called the head nurse to report this, she was unconcerned, and asked if the woman was still there (my reply: "No, I didn't just leave an old woman bleeding on the ground and hope that you might be willing to help half an hour later"). Anyway, my own experiences were that the people who worked for Synergy were mostly very nice, but very disorganized and had awful customer service. Some of the things that happened: *They sent someone who couldn't physically lift my mother (I explained when hiring them that was the sole reason we were hiring them, because the in-house staff would not respond fast enough). They couldn't find anyone else for 3 days. *Their staff were persistently late (30 minutes or more). Also, if their replacement was late existing staff would try to leave before being relieved. *Many of the staff said they could do lifts, but in fact were not trained on how to do this. *Many of the staff would not go through the list of tasks we had for them (cleaning up, etc.) and would only do one thing at a time as directed by Mom. *One care giver was late because she had let herself into another resident's room and provided care for a while before the other resident convinced them they were in the wrong place. *One time the nursing director let herself into Mom's room at about 9:30pm (Mom went to bed at 6pm, which they knew). She was checking to make sure her staff were present, but she woke Mom up unnecessarily. *Some of their staff would call in sick and they were unable to provide a replacement. One time someone said it was too hard to lift Mom (she weighed ~90 pounds), so wouldn't come in the next time, but she was still on the schedule for future dates. Since they didn't replace her, I found a private caregiver willing to cover, and gave Synergy 3 days notice. They unexpectedly sent someone after all (who let himself into the room at 9pm and didn't say anything until I came and asked him who he was and why he was there). *When talking to managers (including the owner) about the persistent problems, Synergy would act like we were being unreasonable to want basic things like sending people who could provide the care we contracted for, and arriving on time. I did reach a good supervisor one time who was completely flabbergasted and ashamed at our experience, but that was at the very end when trying to wrap things up. *At one point I got an email saying "It is illegal for our caregivers to be lifting your mother so we are terminating your contract." I asked why they would have accepted a contract for something illegal, since what we needed (help taking her to bathroom) had not changed at all since the beginning, and eventually got them to admit it was not illegal, or even against their policy. They just felt they couldn't make us happy (true!). They gave us 5 days to find a replacement. In conclusion, during the 2 weeks we hired Synergy, we had at least one problem every day, many of which became crises that required me to take off work to do their job when Mom was left alone. They have a large pool of staff (which is nice), but when they have a job they just broadcast it without details (like a cab company). So rather than finding people that were a good fit for my Mom, caregivers would show up not knowing Mom needed to be lifted, or that she had ALS, or what ALS was. It was an absolute nightmare, and the only reason we stuck with them for 2 weeks was that we had trouble finding a reliable replacement agency that could provide 24/7 care for her. In the end we found Adult Companion Care which was an enormous improvement. Please beware, there are some good staff and some very nice people, but the disorganization and mismanagement and chaos is the last thing you need when dealing with an ill family member. read more

Mitch is the reason Synergy was referred to us, and I can see why. Once he met with me and my parents, it was an easy decision. He was so personable, honest, down to earth, and hands on. We needed some help with my father and thanks to Mitch, his staff, and the caretakers, we have help for my dad and a little relief for my mom. Dee and Mi Mi do the scheduling, which is a challenge, and they are excellent. We have had several care takers help us and they are wonderful. All of them have been so respectful, kind, and focused on the individual they are caring for. I would highly reccomend Synergy in the event you may need home care. We all were very nervous to get help, and thanks to them it has worked out perfectly. We should have called them a year ago. :) read more
