I'm deaf. I called via the video relay (basically an interpreter on screen who calls using their phone and I sign while the interpreter voices for me). I called to ask if they could hem my motorcycle jeans. This is how the conversation over the phone went: THEM: Hello ME: I have a motorcycle-- THEM (cutting me off): We don't sell motorcycles. *hung up* I was left sitting there with my mouth agape. I figured it was simple confusion so I called back to clarify -- they ignored my call and let it go to recording. I called three times, all went to recording. I don't know how their work is so I cannot comment on the quality -- but I can definitely say their customer service is quite questionable. I think you guessed it at this point; I said screw it and called Roxy's Alterations instead. Roxy's was very polite, said it wouldn't be a problem, and gave me excellent service -- didn't even blink when I mentioned I was deaf. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Took my wedding dress in to make two small alterations. When I went to pick up she didn't even offer for me to try it on there. The dress zipped just fine when I took it in, and when I tried it at home after picking it up it barely zipped. She took way too much off the sides and my wedding is less than 3 weeks away. Got two responses from her. "No I didn't" and "I'll have to look at it" after I asked if she could undo what she did. Look at it? She did the alterations she should know what she did and if it can be undone. My very expensive dress now doesn't even fit and I'll have to make alterations somewhere else and alter the look of the dress in the back to make it work. I'm out over $300 and a dress that doesn't look anything like I had dreamed of my wedding day. Maybe she's good at making simple alterations but intricate dresses is NOT her specialty. read more

We drove to DM Sewing by Lehman and although their Yelp says they're open until 8, they were closed and their phone number and closing times were peeled off of their shop window. We called using the number on yelp and no answer. I left a voicemail and still have not heard from them. Sylvia's Alterations who used to be across from (what we still call Luviano's) It's Los Vaqueros on Center St., now works out of a home office on 2nd St. She was on Center St for 8 years until the smoke from the now smoke shop was too much. Anyway, she met us right away and was quick. She can add patches to scout uniforms/letterman jackets etc. and even does upholstery! read more

No prices on her website. Unprofessional setting. Did not let me know the cost until I went there separately to pick up the two little girls dresses I had hemmed (wish I had asked!). She charged way more than I could have anticipated, and did not tell me she did not take debit/credit card payments, but said, "It is on the ticket." I had to find a way to Venmo the very expensive cost she charged me, but had no choice, but to pay for the service. I would tell everyone I know to stay away. Her house smells like the multiple parrots she houses. Overpriced, and negative experience! read more

Fast and reasonable!! Great experience, Sylvia's was much less than the other quote provided and she did the job in the same day. She did an excellent job. If I had not heard from Sylvia's I would have trashed my favorite bedspread and bought a new one. A new one would have been cheaper than what the other person wanted to charge. I needed a fast alterations done on 2 of my security uniform shirts and when I made contact she agreed to do a quick turnaround of my needs. I requested a quote through yelp and even though it was late evening, she responded timely, and I was able to drop my son's pants off the next day.
