My wife needed an alteration on a new outfit for a photoshoot that was happening in a couple days. In the midst of COVID it was tough finding options in Brighton. I turned to my trusty Yelp and found Sylvia. She was very pleasant to deal with on the phone and I connected my wife with her to set up an appointment. She said she'd be able to meet the three day deadline and asked $40 for the job after meeting with my wife where she explained how she wanted the garment altered. Fast forward to delivery and it just wasn't quite right. Specific alterations my wife had requested weren't done to her satisfaction.. some weren't done at all. I'm no seamstress but I do sew a great deal in my profession. First off the margins were uneven and there was an unnecessary amount of double stitching. I think the main complaint was the color of thread the original designer used was red on a red garment. Sylvia used orange which was unnoticeable in pictures but not to the naked eye. I couldn't have asked for more. The alterations were perfect, the price was fair, and it was done quickly! Sylvia is definitely the person you want working on your dress! She truly loves what she does. She takes a lot of pride in her work and makes sure everything is just right. When I went for my initial fitting she was able to see right away what needed to be done to make the dress look good on me. She talked through what she thought should be done and listened to what I wanted. She was very thorough and in the end I had a beautiful bridesmaids dress and she did it all in about 10 days!
