My son has been at Sylvan for almost a year now, focusing on reading. They collaborate with the school if you would like them to, and whenever I raise a concern about a subject he struggles with, they promptly tailor their approach to assist him. I appreciate their quarterly assessments to track progress and adjust accordingly. His reading, writing, and vocabulary have all shown significant improvement. So things of course have changed over the last few months in regards to the way Sylvan has to instruct students. We have elected to go from face to face tutoring to online and I have actually been impressed with the way Sylvan has been instructing my child. My child's favorite online tutor is Jaqueline. She keeps my child engaged and interested in learning. My daughter thrives on the reward system and the fact that they reward students with virtual coins when they solve a problem, is a good incentive for students to learn. They can then turn in their virtual coins for gifts. The staff will meet with you on a monthly basis to review your child's progress and they also work with your child's primary school teacher. You can pay monthly or in advance. If you pay in advance they give you an hourly discount. I believe I pay about 50 dollars an hour, but it has been worth it to see my child progress at a good rate. I highly recommend this place for a tutoring location. All of the instructors are helpful and good with young children. read more

My 8yo son has been attending classes at Sylvan Learning for a little over a month now, and has shown dramatic improvements in his writing. After researching, I found that this is the only learning center that has a specific writing class. My son is an above average reader, but when asked to write a paragraph on anything, he would draw a blank. It was like there was a mental block that prevented him from getting his thoughts on paper. Two weeks after attending his classes, I asked him to write a book report on a novel he finished. What would normally be an all day, hair pulling ordeal, he was able to complete in just 10 minutes!!! I asked how in the world did they get you to write? Lol. He simply said his teacher taught him a different way to look at writing and it helped. It certainly did!! I am absolutely amazed with how well he is thriving and so quickly! He loves going to class, the facility is always very clean, and the staff is always very kind and welcoming. My son has been attending sylvan since the beginning of August. He just asked me today if he can join the after school reading program at his elementary school. Great learning center, my daughter's grades improved slightly. She loved coming here. The only bad thing is they don't accommodate learning disabilities, I think if they had specialist that worked with children that have learning disabilities I would definitely re-enroll her. I never received a final eval after she finished the program so for me that was a negative as well. read more

I always wanted my son to try Sylvan and finally did when they had a Groupon offer available. I was able to schedule a placement test for my son right away and was able to get his score at the same visit. My son has been coming to Sylvan for a month now and we already see improvement at school. I really like how the staff are knowledgeable and how this location is kept. Walking in you can see everything organized and clean which is a plus for me. My son hasn't complained yet about going to Sylvan after school, another plus!
